However, some travelers feel the resort falls short on value, criticizing the high costs for amenities, service shortcomings, and unexpected fees. Jacob and Ricky at the tiki are the best bartenders! Great view and great drinks. Dream vacation 🌴 Tuna was the freshest in key west. Good times with friends and family will be coming back asap. Lemon drop shots were on point. View is the best in the keys.

Since upon arrival, our experience has been phenomenally outstanding from checkin to the tiki bar by the pool area, the bartender Jacob has been absolutely amazing he has gone above and beyond to make our experience here next level and he makes a great cocktail lol.

We chose this resort last minute when our other plans fell through. Overall my kids enjoyed it which was the point of the trip being spring break, but wow it was disappointing at every turn. -Staff is either indifferent/bored or extremely rude. Not one employee smiled or engaged in conversation with us the entire time. They seem annoyed by anyone’s presence. -LINES and waiting. Everything takes forever. Line to check in, line at the marketplace every day, line to order lunch or dinner. Waited over an hour every day for food. -the kids pools close at 6 (why?!) and the other pools and hot tubs at sunset and there is literally nothing else to do at this resort after that. My kids go to bed early but if they were older or I was with just my husband we would have been bored out of our minds. -Food is at best mediocre. Angler and ale was decent but everywhere else on site was not good and way overpriced. Everything tasted off, even the bacon. And pancakes. And pizza. How can you mess up bacon?! -Way too expensive. They charge like they are a luxury resort but it is not. The lobby is nice and the rooms have had a facelift recently but our hallway had stained carpet and smelled musty. The bathrooms are outdated, pillows/linens terrible quality, the kids pirate ship area was pretty shabby and way more impressive in pictures. $20 per drink. The location is beautiful but there has to be better quality resorts in the keys. My advice is keep looking! I won’t stay here again or recommend to anyone else either.

We have been to the Keys for many years but this was our first trip to Hawk’s Cay. Tons of fun for the kids from crafts to kid’s club and trivia. Everyone was very friendly but our kids favorite person was Mr. Don. He greeted us in the mornings and when the pools closed in the evenings. Y’all are lucky to have such a great man on your team! Until next time…thank you!

Beautiful Resort. Exceptionally poor management. Was very disappointed. Would not recommend. Could never get both our room keys to work at the same time, despite taking them back to the front desk at least twice a day. Room had multiple issues: missing sheet for pull out bed that took an hour to deliver when requested, TV wouldn't work on check in because someone had connected the cable box wrong. I reported and fixed it myself, but was left with cable box dangling loose behind TV for duration of the stay, and a TV that only mostly worked. One of the patio doors to our room was missing the deadbolt and had a broken door handle. Reported to management 3 different times, maintenance finally showed on the 4th day of our stay. He was very kind and professional and said that he was not given the new hardware to fix this issue which was known by hotel management and so he couldn't do anything else about it except take another picture to send to his manager. The soap and shampoo/conditioner dispenser in the shower had fallen off the wall, and was simply left on the floor. Air conditioner went out for the entire hotel for one of the nights and part of one day. Communication regarding this was poor and there was no gesture from the hotel on compensation or options to offset this experience. The hotel wifi was subpar at best despite the daily resort fee charge. The shops and market were understaffed, understocked, and not replenished. Food at the restaurants was mediocre and overpriced. After a couple days we chose to eat all our meals off property. We asked several times to speak to a manager about these issues and were repeatedly promised that a manager would follow up with us. This never happened. Clearly, the property has a manager issue. As in, they don't care at all about their guests. Upon checking out, their recourse for all these issues were to offer to credit the resort fees for the duration of our stay. ($50 a day) Stay somewhere else.

We visited during spring break. The townhouse was outdated. There were stains all over the carpet and couch. We didn’t even want to sit on it. The courtyard had a “hot tub” with no button to start it and the tiles were chipped everywhere. These accusations were no cheap. It felt like one of the worst hotel rooms we have ever stayed in for the most money. We will not be going back.

The pools areas, lagoon, location and dolphin experience were great! Tiki bar food and drinks at pools were good as was service. Our experience at the two onsite restaurants however was not good…food was fair at best and prices were very expensive for “poor to fair” meals. Staff was not particularly friendly or knowledgeable around the resort or when contacted with questions. When we made our reservation directly with Hawks Cay Resort for a 2 bedroom villa, there was no mention that villas are privately owned and furnished. We found Villa rooms to be small and the decor was worn & tired…especially for the high nightly price of villa. We were surprised to find out that there was no housekeeping service; which was disappointing for price. We were to receive housekeeping services on the 4th day of our stay; however this never occurred. We had to call housekeeping each and every day to obtain clean towels and the clean towels were left in a bag on our porch. When we inquired about trash pick up we were told there were dumpsters around the property we could take our trash to; after further Inquiry we were able to arrange trash pick up if we bagged trash and placed on porch. Location of villa in resort and view were very nice. The overall resort grounds were very spacious & nice as well. Aside from above noted issues, Overall we had a very nice stay. Resort is pretty but very pricey for level of service received.

Dear Kastapola, Thank you for sharing your feedback. We're thrilled to hear you enjoyed the pools, lagoon, and our Tiki bar. We acknowledge your concerns about your restaurant experiences and are actively looking into it. While our villas offer unique decor reflecting their ownership, we understand your expectations for upkeep and service. Your insights will help us get better. It's great to know the location and resort grounds met your expectations. We're committed to enhancing our service and villa presentation. We are sorry your experience was not ideal, but we would certainly love an opportunity to invite you back. Warm regards, Hawks Cay Resort Management

Although the resort is top notch, their advertising presented a different picture, therefore my expectations were not met. The Sunset Villas are individually owned, therefore their condition varies by unit. Our unit had very little stock in the kitchen, standard items like salt & pepper, trash bags, dish soap, dish towels, etc. were not available even though I called prior to our visit to make sure we had everything we needed. The views from the sunset villas are of the highway, bridge and numerous power poles/lines, therefore those pristine sunset pictures advertised are unrealistic. The pillows on all of the beds were horrendous, everyone in our party left with sore necks and backs. The thermostat was being controlled by the owner of the unti, therefore we all woke up sweating every night to 79 degrees in our unit. The daytime temperature was set to 73 (far too cold when coming in wet from the pool) and night time was set far too warm. No matter how many times we reset the thermostat, it defaulted to the owners preference. As this price, the visitors should definitely have control of the thermostat. The community pools were nice, clean and well stocked with towels. The rented golf cart was convenient but very pricey. The kids were very dissapointed that the Coral Cay area closed at 5 pm each day. Additionally the Coral Cay Grill only served Pizza, not the advertised burgers, chicken, fries, etc. The Marketplace only sold souvenirs, not the standard "market" fare you would assume would be there. The marina did not sell bait and was out of ice. So our intention of arriving and never leaving the resort was not reasonable, we found ourselves leaving the resort often to pick up beer, ice, bait, salt & pepper, tin foil, etc. Overall the resort was overpriced for the experience.

It was good for kids but the rooms were very outdated. The bathtub didn’t work and not ideal for little ones, the safe didn’t work so we couldn’t lock up our passports etc, the picket on our balcony was broken so a little child could fall through, the sliding door was also broken to get out onto the balcony. The cleaners didn’t come to our room the first day we had to call and they still didn’t come. The pool is very packed with people. The beach is small and rocky not as advertised. The food is very expensive and not great.

Very try. Overpriced Howard Johnson’s. No activities. If it’s cold there is nothing else to do. Events only included kids. Nothing fun if the weather is bad. This was my 2nd & last trip. Restaurants closed. Our floor smelled like sewer for several days during our stay. Fool me once…
