We stay here every year and it's a family favorite! The campground has secluded spots so you feel like you've got your own space. The bath house is always very clean! The walk to the beach is very convenient and once you get to the...More
My daughter and I recently visited Henderson Beach State Park. We usually visit about 2 times a year as we're frequent visitors to the Destin area.
The park is currently undergoing some renovations to improve the experience for future visitors. For example, the outdoor showers...More

I can't help you with your weather concerns - we've only been in Florida in winter or spring, never in the middle of summer. I will say the spaces in Henderson have a lot of lush greenery surrounding them. No real shade trees, but you won't be completely exposed to sun.
As for things to do, Henderson parallels a very busy commercial strip, with all the restaurants, bars, and shopping you could want just a few minutes away. In fact, the one downside to the park is that you do get some of the traffic noise, depending on how the wind is blowing.
