We stayed at Silver Dunes with our family on Fall break. It is a great property with a private beach and not overcrowded. The unit we stayed in was wonderful with a gorgeous ocean view. However, the master bath was small with a door from the hall and bedroom that both opened inward to the bathroom, under sink cabinet was the only bathroom storage space (no shelving and small counter top). The second bath was nice and roomy but only a closet with no extra shelving near the mirror/tub area to hold extra bath stuff such as makeup, hair care items, etc. The bathrooms are the only complaint I would have, but will stay again because everything thing else outweighs this. The kitchen was well laid out, stocked with everything we needed. The location was perfect, in the middle of almost everything in Destin, and a few steps to the beach. They do have a nice pool area but we didn’t use it as we stayed at the beach most of the day. Love this property.…
I've been staying at Silver Dunes for over 40 years, and Unit 26 was PERFECT! It has been recently updated - looks amazing, has a great balcony with a gorgeous view, it is spacious, and the beds were comfortable! Huge plus! I would stay in this condo again and again!
We have been coming to Silver Dunes for 20 years, but since new management took over, it has not been the same. Check is late at 4 PM and the room was still not ready. The room was dirty and did not have our welcome packet. The bathroom had mold all over the ceiling. The grounds were not picked up...debris was everywhere for the whole stay. The beach service has also gone down hill. The pool had mold all around the edge and is very out dated. We have been coming with a large family every year, usually 4 to 5 rooms and we will not be returning as the rest of our family had similar experiences.
Booked reservations begging of June for 6/26- 7/4 a week before our arrival we got an email our reservation would be cancelled due to change in management. After 3 days of calling trying to get a refund we finally talked to someone and we were able to get our money back and rebook our stay for $200 more (through new management) which was fine. A week later we finally get here and check in. We were in unit 22, the place was absolutely disgusting. We had to go out to buy cleaning supplies to clean the bathtub because it was black (some obvious wear and tear) but the water from the bathtub was dirty from it not being cleaned. The master was not vacuumed, there was chunks of mud, behind the nightstand were old water bottles, with inches of dust. The floor all over the place was dirty and hadn’t been swept nor mopped. My 10 month old found nails in the living room while crawling. We never got a welcome packet in our room so we had to be let in the gate by the security guards (they all were extremely friendly and welcoming) we called someone to at the office to get a code, she said she’ll call back and never did. The next morning we were given a code that was invalid so we go to the office and finally got a new code that worked. While we were in the office we mentioned that the unit we were in was dirty when we checked in and were told that they hadn’t cleaned nor gone into that unit that only the old management had cleaned and gone into it and not the new one. Impressive how the new management hired new housekeeping in a week. Our trip was nice except the unit we got it definitely was not worth the $1,2900…
My family has been staying at Silver Dunes for the past 30 years. It is a lovely place with nice amenities and courteous staff. We have always had a great time and look forward to coming back each year. It holds many fond memories for all of my family and we have had 4 generations of family down there at once.
I absolutely loved the unit I rented last summer! It was gorgeous, very clean and newly renovated. The pool is clean and well maintained, as are the bathrooms. The common ground is also well manicured and it's a great place for kids to run around and play. You will not find a cleaner section of beach on the gulf! George and his crew do an amazing job setting up all the chairs and umbrellas each morning, cleaning up anything that washes up on shore, and they are a wealth of information on the best places to eat out, shop, or rent boats/jet skis/para sails/or any place to visit! The only thing I wish my unit had was a drying rack for hanging up beach towels. I have already booked my unit for this summer! I cannot wait for my daughters to get down there and play and swim. Another great thing about this place is that it's not crowded like you will notice at other places, it's the perfect place! My family has gone to this location for years and we will continue to go with our new growing family.…
We have been coming to Silver Dunes every winter for nearly 40 years. Each year gets worse and worse. I see a lot of positive reviews but noticed most are during peak season. Totally different in the winter months and it starts with management. The head of housekeeping retired within the last couple years. She took pride in what she did and went the extra mile to help you. Now you have to pay $30 if you want extra towels. We got 4 garbage bags for the week (big family), 2 rolls of toilet paper for the week for 6 people. We didn’t have a skillet to cook dinner in (we did have 8 sauce pans). Went to front desk and asked for one, was told they would ask housekeeping which came back and said no. Even though there are about 75 units in the complex and only 10 rented right now, they couldn’t accommodate me by going into another unit? Too much trouble. First night, the shower rod broke. Took it to the front desk. No offer to replace it so I had to go buy one myself. There are about 8 cabanas on the beach. They have always provided cushions. Not this year because apparently George took them for the winter. The pool and tennis courts are under construction (no communication prior to our arrival). The list can go on and on. Beach is great but don’t expect much more.…
We have been staying here for going on 8 years now. Always love it! Staff is nice and friendly. The units are well kept. There are condo sizes for any family studio to 3 bedrooms. This past year we rented 2 close to each other. The entire complex is small which is very nice, there is not a lot of activities for kid's because it is so small. There are pro's and con's with that. They have a kiddie pool and a regular pool. The beach chair service is wonderful and you can book month's in advance for the perfect spot on the beach. The chairs are 2 rows deep during the peak season, which is a HUGE benefit if you have ever been 6 rows back in a major complex.
So beautiful and quiet. We've been to several condos along the beach and this was the best! Beach service was great. Beautifully decorated with a great kitchen with windows looking out over the gulf. Just spectacular!
Just spent all of last week in unit C1403 and it was great. The office personnel were very friendly and helpful, the beaches were clean and not crowded, and George who runs the beach service there is outstanding. We loved it so much we booked the same unit for our trip next year before we left to go home. I will recommend Silver Dunes to anyone and everyone wanting a beach vacation!!!
