Let me start by saying they have 41 rooms and 39 parking spaces. You do the math. Mold everywhere (see photos). Melted, broken oven (see photo). PAINT over RUST in the MICROWAVE (see photo). Rust everywhere, actually. The only explanation could be an old building mixed with doors being open which leads to sea salt blowing in… but why would you allow people to pay to stay in such conditions? Poor ownership who doesn’t care about the state of the property (perhaps only money?) has led to a hotel of horrors. They advertise pullout sofas to sleep two extra guests. A member of housekeeping told us we cannot use it because they have too many broken or dirty ones, so they provide air mattresses instead. Which, whatever, but don’t wait until we are horrified by the state of the hotel to have a member of housekeeping tell us? Speaking of housekeeping, they are severely understaffed apparently, so you can only get services by asking someone to come, and even then supplies are extremely limited. The property is absolutely LITTERED with debris, and good luck using that pool. Yuck. We are calling around to other hotels nearby to get out of here. My advice: do not stay here.…
My family and I have vacationed at Seashells for over twenty years. Once upon a time, the staff was friendly and attentive and the property was in good shape. I have witnessed the property, rooms and pool go downhill the last three years. I’m done! I am breaking the tradition of staying here every July and I will be looking for a new place to stay. Pat, the property manager is very rude and hateful. I’m appalled at how she treated us and other guests. She was rarely in the office and didn’t answer the buzzer. We had to track her down and most of the time she was somewhere smoking. When we made requests, she huffed and was rude. We stayed eight nights and our room was not serviced at any time. We had to chase employees down to get clean towels, coffee or dishwasher soap. It wasn’t a relaxing experience. The outdoor area was dirty. The pool was murky the first two days and it went untreated until the third day. It happened again midweek. The pool chairs were broken and dirty. The area around the pool was dirty because only the walkway was hosed off. The little box they called a grill was disgusting. There is no way I would cook on it. There was no lights in the pool area so it was very dark out there. The gate code didn’t work so anyone could walk up from the beach. The hibiscus trees and greenery used to lush and beautiful and now it is dying out. The room was unclean. The carpet and furniture was filthy. The tub stopped up and my husband had to fix it. The outlets were loose and it was hard to get anything to stay plugged in. The bedspread was picked and rough looking. The sliding door didn’t open or shut easily. It was really hard for me to use it. The balcony hasn’t been swept or mopped in a long time. This was the first time I have ever seen that pets are welcome on the property. I’m a big pet lover so I honestly didn’t care but there is only one little patch of grass for the dogs to potty on. They don’t have adequate areas for these sweet animals. As you can imagine, that little area was poopy and smelly. There was splotches of paint all over the property. Whoever painted made a mess and it was very unattractive. Maybe that’s petty but for the price we paid, I have expectations. The price of our room went up over six hundred dollars from last year. Apparently being a loyal customer for all of these years means nothing to the owners and management. I won’t go back. It’s sad that we have to move on after so many years of making memories at Seashells.…
The only positive thing about this "resort" was the location steps from the beach. We and our Son had one bedroom condos next to each other the sliding glass door needed new "rollers" you needed to be a body builder to open the door. The condos were filthy the carpet was disgusting the furniture was also dirty. The plastic chairs on the balcony were a joke never enough it would seem the resort could afford at least 2 cheap plastic chairs per condo. We had mold in our condo which was cleaned of with a sponge and CLR. The sleeper couch is non functioning air mattress provided the one in our Son's leaked the Grandchildren choose to sleep on the coach.
I picked ocean front with pets. We got beautiful ocean front but chaotic deck. We were given tiny plastic stool I paid on a booking site for a 3 star pet friendly hotel. It was not pet friendly. My dogs are quiet and well traveled. The area we ised to let out was filled with burrs that hurt my dogs. I spent 210 for a dog deposit and close to 900 for a bed that was beyond used, a coffee pot that did not work, and a room where people were loud . The ocean was amazing as was the pool area. The front office person named Candi was professional and kind. The rest is a hard no. I checked out around 7:00 am. I will never return. I normally do not spend this much. I will stick with well know hotels in my future travels.
We come to Daytona a few times a year First time staying here I was skeptical because of the reviews but my boyfriend booked the stay Best decision ever this place is clean and the staff are terrific and welcoming.we met nice people. and really had a terrific weekend.Im a person who wants the hotel to be clean like my home and that's exactly what we got.We will definitely be back
Overall the place is dated, had to lysol the bathroom due to dirt and mold. Sat on a balcony chair that promptly collapsed, The neighbor said that the broken chair was reported by last tenants but nothing was done. I reported to the front desk and all I got back was a grunt and shrug. This property has a great view but the on site management sucks Definitely over priced for what you get. Let this be a warning to anyone looking to stay here, Be on guard this place is rapidly becoming a dump.
If it weren't for the location, I would give it a two - the place is tired and needs some updating - the stove only had two of the four burners working, lacked some essentials in the kitchen if you are planning on cooking, the drain in the shower was severally clogged with sand, the furniture is worn, the on site laundry room was nasty, the pool had the pool light dangling with its wire out (I wouldn't go in a pool with exposed wires out!) but....the location was amazing! You literally walk down stairs (or take the elevator) and you are on the beach! If you aren't looking for a luxurious place, this is the spot - close to Publix grocery, great restaurants and out of the downtown Daytona craziness. AND, the views from our condo were amazing!
This place is old. There is supposed to have a sofabed for a third person and it was broken. So my mom slept on the sofa. Do not waste your money on this property. The cleaners and front desk person were really friendly.
We booked a room with an ocean view but when we got there our view was anything but ocean. All we could see was cars and the stairs. Then on the second day we came from the beach to shower for dinner and the shower was full of sewage. Not just our room
Never in a million years spend your money staying at this hotel. The property manager Pat Steele is the worst I've ever met. Not a good human being. Anger issues. She treated us rudely at every moment. The door locking mechanism (key card) to go in and out of the room broke, Pat decided that instead of sending a handyman to fix our room door lock she would have us "find her around" so she could let us into the room. This was Daytona 500 weekend and the room charge was over $200 a night. Best part was going out to dinner and and four phone call Pat finally responded of course angrily because she was already in her room. Again, we asked for a handyman and angrily she responded if we were not content "you can happily leave". I am appalled that Pat Steele is gainfully employed in a customer-facing role. I can assure you that I will never consider coming back to this hotel. I sincerely hope that anyone considering renting here decides to spend their money literally anywhere else. STAY AWAY!…
