We had a wonderful experience at the Biltmore and in particular the outdoor staff. We stayed in a Cabana by the pool and were taken care of so well. The Biltmore's Fontana restaurant used to be one of our favorite restaurants in Miami. Because of COVID, we had not been there in over a year. We reserved a table for 6 PM, when it opens for dinner and dined outside -- to avoid contact with other diners. We were not seated until 6 PM. To our dismay, for about 15 minutes, staff were dragging tables and chairs -- positioning them for dining. Why could this not been accomplished before the restaurant opened? One favorite dish, the spinach salad, was no longer on the menu. We ordered chicken Parmesan and seafood risotto -- two dishes we loved in the past. We found both mediocre. It is unfortunate because this used to be our go to restaurant in Coral Gables.

As before, we spent some very nice days in the Biltmore hotel. While the hotel, its facilities and grounds are a great pleasure to enjoy and relax in, the real asset is its staff of which many have worked there for many years if not decennia. They make you feel truly welcome and comfortable. The avoidance of constant and rapid turnover of staff is much appreciated from the guest side. We are grateful to all the staff, in particular Patricia overseeing so well the pool area and Hilda serving so attentively the delightful brunch. If there was any downside then it was the considerable noise level in two consecutive nights stemming from major evening parties on the hotel premises. One had to turn up the TV to be able to listen to the program. Overall a very pleasant hotel with friendly and professional staff which sets this historic landmark hotel well aside and above from other hotels in its league.

From the moment we walk in we were greeted immediately by two bellmen and directed to the front desk, Sandra was very kind and answered all our questions. Amauri who escorted us to the room was very pleasant and informative about this beautiful hotel, made sure we had ice before leaving us. He greeted us like old friends the next morning when we were in the lobby. Our room was 903 and the view from the balcony was beautiful at night, Miami on the skyline to the east. Room was spacious as well as spotless, the sink/counter could have been bigger, but very very nice. We had dinner for four at the Fontana, the service was excellent, food presentation was eye appealing as well as delicious. We had four very different orders and everyone loved their selection. At night my daughter wanted an extra blanket and it was brought up immediately. The next morning at the pool the staff was friendly and very helpful and moved chairs from other spots around the pool so the three of us could sit together, could not be more pleased. I felt like I was at home, other hotel experiences were cold and in personable in comparison.

We have stayed at The Biltmore a few times over the years, first as business conference guests and now as Miami parents. The building is old school Florida grand in style with lovely architecture and beautiful grounds. There are some aging areas that need attention, but overall those are worth tolerating because the property has great character and history. The rooms are lovely and the bathrooms can be hit or miss. Sometimes you get a tiny bathroom in a suite and other times a massive walk in shower and even a terrace. The food options have evolved recently and not in a good way. Then new pool menu is limited and greasy. Even the fish skewers were covered in mayo sauces and grease. The ceviche came in greasy tostone cups with sauces and there is no salad at all offered on the pool menu. The pork bao buns were good but you can't order a side of fruit at the pool without ordering a huge yogurt lunch item...ugh. The pool staff was amazing and worked very hard and seemed to totally understand why the new menu is just not accommodative. The cascade bar was ok with more options and service good. We enjoy Fontana and ate there a few times and the food was good and service slow but that is pandemic related. They really tried and the atmosphere there is lovely. The gym is very large and well equipped and we had good experiences in the spa. The weaknesses overall are some needed updating (like some paint around the pool area) and the pool menu and varied service times in the eating options can be annoying.
