We met my parents there to spend some time together after not being able to see them for 9 + months. They had been there in September and assured us that the hotel was safe and everyone wore masks. We were all upset to see that mask wearing was not happening or being enforced. I have so many photos of guests walking freely through the hotel, congregating in the lobby area, walking around crowded areas outside, all without masks. I simply do not understand why the hotel doe not have security enforcing mask wearing. There was a wedding party present, and not one single person was wearing a mask for two days, inside or out. All employees wore masks with a few notable exceptions, i.e one of the hostesses at Sea Guini, who seemed to think she only could speak if she pulled her mask down, and the two male bartenders by the pool, who just wore theirs on their chins for all three days we were there. It was disappointing, and I honestly will be surprised if we or my elderly parents do not get sick. I understand that the hotel may not want to lose revenue, but I am guessing they also do not want to lose employees when they get sick. I would hope they'd put a little more thought into protecting their guests who believe in masks. The hotel itself is outstanding. The rooms were great. The food at Sea Guini was amazing every time we ate there. The beach was very nice, and had great shelling. We might come back if there is no pandemic, although I cannot guarantee it. The lack of caring about whether my elderly parents or us get sick, spoke volumes about hotel management.

We went here for sunset dining, overlooks Gulf, live entertainment, was great. Loved the singer, food & staff. Our great waitress was Samantha, we had tempura shrimp & huge bacon burger w/onion rings. Both very tasty but omigosh, the dessert!! It was BEST banana foster cheesecake I've ever had, & I've had plenty, lol. We asked the manager to light the lanterns too, & it added to the great ambiance. Watch the ships go by & chill out, neat! :D

Looking out across our glass balcony to the pool and the surf below, I felt like I had woken up inside out beautifully shot travel brochure. The pool area is gorgeous, as is the pool. The pool has quite a bit of shallow area like beach sand. Plenty of chairs, towels, and chair covers available in different sections of the pool area. We started out near the hot tub with an expansive view of the beach below and the beach restaurant. We migrated to mid section which has less people and more sounds of the surf and is closer to the bar. We got instant service at the bar with good cocktails. Then migrated even further to the astro turf area which has games for kids and adults and rocking chairs and cabanas and a view around the corner to the Sand Key Bridge and overlooking Sand Key. Fast lunch service enjoyed on the deck. All you can hear is the sound of splashing waterfall and ambiant, spa type music. The standard room we booked was gorgeous and just as pictured. There are no bad rooms here which is why we chose this hotel. The lobby and rooms are furnished in ocean and sand colors, with a very hip Miami mirrored surface vibe. The whole experience is very Miami chic, not Clearwater daytripper. We had dinner in Sea-quini (not sure about that name) which is elegant but has a great bubble wall which fascinated me. Food and service, very good. Bed was comfortable with a large screen TV in view, bedside lights easy to operate. Huge shower, plenty of a spa quality soap, towels and hair products. Safe in room, fridge in room, iron and board, 2 terry cloth robes. A comfy couch seating area. Room felt spacious and you there is not much between you, the open skies and the surf. Everyone is masked in the interior spaces. I like that they have a "pantry" on each floor, which provides fruit, free water and ice and a microwave station. Great idea. Coffee in the rooms.

We came here for our wedding in late September and had a great experience! Everyone here at Opal Sands makes this resort top notch in Clearwater Beach. We arrived late upon checking in and the front desk lady was super nice in telling us all about the resort. The resort looked very nice at night and the smell inside the resort was awesome...they must pipe something through the vents! We had a premium gulf front king room and it was very nice! We were on the 14th floor and we saw many dolphins and manatees as we sat on the balcony with cold beverages 🍺. The room was very spacious for two people and the walk in shower was a nice touch. We spent much of our time at the pool and you couldn’t ask for a better view of the Gulf from our lounge chairs. The staff at the pool were top notch and kudos to Megan and Jake for making our stay very enjoyable. The tiki bar was also very nice and the food is heavenly! They have a place to play bags (cornhole) which we did almost everyday. The beach is steps from the resort and very nice to relax at or take a walk along. There are many restaurants close to the resort and within walking distance. I would highly recommend the Opal Sands to anyone visiting Clearwater Beach and we are actually heading back in December for my wife’s birthday because we loved it so much! Thanks to all the staff at Opal Sands for making our wedding and honeymoon so memorable! See you in December!
