The Hilton Clearwater Beach Resort & Spa is celebrated for its excellent location, offering easy access to the beach and local attractions, and creating a safe, family-friendly environment. Guests have commended the service, citing the friendly staff, although there have been occasional mentions of service delays. While the resort's atmosphere is generally appreciated, thanks to tasteful renovations and features like live music, the rooms often disappoint, being described as outdated and sometimes not well-cleaned. Additionally, travelers are critical of the value, pointing out high fees for amenities and parking that do not seem justified.

The location is great and aside from the hidden fees, the amenities are nice. I will say however, I’m the General Manager at a Hampton Inn and the service quality at my hotel is 10x better than this resort. I have waited 5 hours for a microwave to be sent up to my room after being told by 4 different employees that it’s on the way up. I’m fully aware it’s not the front desks fault but someone needs to do something about the houseman/housekeeping departments service quality. It is truly unacceptable for the price that is charged for staying at this resort (whom advertises room service). Mind you, there is no other way to heat up food as there are no microwaves in the lobby or in the rooms. So if you don’t mind eating a cold soggy sandwich because housekeeping can’t get it together then this resort is perfect for you!

The room was dark and depressing and my view was of the roof. The full-size hair conditioner and body lotion bottles were empty. I was in the shower, when I found out, so it was pointless to tell management at that point. There are no grab bars to hold on to in the shower. The room was expensive and on top of that charged an additional $35 a day resort fee and $29 a day (valet only) parking. The resort fee gives you unlimited high speed internet, 10% discount at the spa, 2 bottles of water daily, beach yoga from 8 to 9 am, complimentary non-motorized water sports from 10 am to 12 pm (noon), 1 beach photo shoot with 1 free digital print, free bicycle usage in 1 hour increments (ages 12+). I didn't use any of those things and wasn't interested in those. There's a Starbucks nearby (you have walk through the garage to get to). It's walking distance to shops and restaurants and Pier 60. Expensive for what I got out of it.

The best part about this property is the people. The hotel overall is ok but not worth the price. The differentiator is the staff across all aspects of the resort. If it wasn’t for that I would have been disappointed in the value offered by this hotel.
The Hilton is located in the best possible spot in this area. They have walk out to the beach and the pool is oriented to get full sun all day. It’s also kept at 80 degrees so even on cold days you can swim if you want.
The rooms are small but it was fine for two people. The beds are wonderful and although it’s tired looking, it was decently clean and had everything we needed including a mini fridge and coffee maker.
The spa is very relaxing, clean, and has several extras like a steam shower, snacks, robes/slippers, and is a quiet oasis for relaxation. I had an excellent massage from Justin and would have tried other services if the prices were a bit better. With the exchange on the Canadian dollar it was pricey.
The restaurant, pool, valet maintenance, and housekeeping staff were all incredibly friendly and focused on the guest experience. Two employees really stood out, Bintang at the front desk and one of the valets (he drives a Harley but I forgot his name), were fantastic. The valets were especially friendly and helpful and are the perfect employees to be the first impression for guests. I would like to go again if the cost was more reasonable for the rooms. For the time of year(January) and the fact that no real amenities were available to justify the $35 resort fee daily (before exchange), it just doesn’t make financial sense to go back.

I booked a 4 day conference there. The banquet and AV staff were the best I have encountered in years. I see people in these reviews talking about the condition of the rooms, but I don't think they realize that is just what happens when people track in sand and what the salt water air does. I saw maintenance working on those minor repairs every day I was there. Housekeeping was so nice to me as I was leaving, even tho I had a late checkout.
My group is used to high end resorts, and NO ONE had a negative thing to say. They loved the rooms the food and the event space. I only heard wonderful things.
The location is certainly prime.
The desk, valet, banquet, and restaurant staff made me feel more appreciated and taken care of than any other resort I have been to since preCovid. And apparently many of the staff has been there since preCovid, which means management is obviously doing something right.

This is a not inexpensive hotel BUT

Housekeeping was practically non-existent, in part:
• Room was not serviced until after 4 PM each day.
• Had to request washcloths and bath mat from the attendant since none were provided
• Room was not vacuumed at all during our 3-day stay.
• Elevators were filthy.

The hotel is in poor repair, in part:
• The coffee maker in our room did not work. We reported it the first morning of our stay and were assured that a replacement would be provided. That never happened.
• Room and carpets were dingy and dim.
• Towel hooks spontaneously fell off the wall in our bathroom

Parking situation is completely inadequate:
• Valet parking at $29 per night is the ONLY option.
• There was never a valet at the desk to get the car when it was needed.

My credit card was charged $195 upon arrival and $75.65 on the morning of departure. I went to the front desk twice to get an explanation of these charges since we did not spend ANY money at the hotel other than the parking (for which I requested and received a printed invoice). I was told that the $195 charge was to cover any incidentals and that the $75.65 was to confirm my card was still valid (I particularly resent this as a charge of $1 would achieve the same thing). I was told that these charges would be refunded within 72 hours - not holding my breath.

My husband (while waiting in line at the front desk to try to resolve some of these issues) overheard a couple with a young child complain that they had smelled smoke and marijuana in their room the previous night. They asked for a different room and were told no rooms were available. When I was at the front desk about at hour later a gentleman walked in without a reservation and was given a room. So clearly there was some lying going on by the front desk staff. This is a safety issue for every hotel guest and it was completely ignored.

The beach itself was beautiful and the hotel is right on the main strip of restaurants. This is NOT a 4 star hotel by any means and is not worth the EXORBITANT price.
The chairs at the pool were included. The chairs on the beach were charged by a separate vendor for upwards of $25 per day per person.
Housekeeping was lacking-a few days and had to ask for towel replacements after the maids had left the room.
Breakfast buffet was poorly attended and the food was therefore soggy and stale-$30 per head.
Hilton Honors Service Desk usually had one employee and there usually was a line. Ocean/Gulf view room (which we paid extra) was overlooking the roof of the parking lot and the conference center as well as all the HVAC roof gear- Gulf was far in the distance and NOT worth the extra money.
" Optional" Valet parking at $29 per day really wasn't very optional and should have explained on the web site.
Fitness center had very limited weights, TVs, and bicycle equipment. One day Fitness Center had NO clorox wipes.
The Hotel and the Rooms were very dated and under repair.
The area near the beach bathrooms( Men's room was closedfor2 days for repairs) and pool table, fussball table, and pool smelled horribly like mildew or feces.
As a long time Hilton Honors Member, it was the worst Hilton Hotel have stayed in.

I have never been so disappointed in a Hilton property. I am an avid customer of the Hilton Hotels. For work and leisure, I always find a Hilton property to stay. I recently planned a Girls trip to the beach and was excited to stay at the Hilton Clearwater Beach Resort & Spa. It was expensive, I got two rooms, but it boasted of the large beach and the pictures all showed a beautiful beach, chairs and umbrellas. I called when booking to make sure the resort fee included beach chairs and umbrellas and was assured it did, WRONG! The resort fee did not include any chairs and umbrellas on the beach; it included chairs and umbrellas at the pool. So, for $150 a day in addition to a resort fee, I got to enjoy Hilton’s beach. On the beach, you are not allowed to take your own alcohol beverages; you have to purchase from their Tiki bar. In the pool area, you are not allowed to take drinks of any king, not even coffee in the morning, you have to purchase from their Tiki bar. In addition, all parking is valet at $29 a day so anytime you wanted to go out or wanted to get something from the vehicle it was at least a 15 minute wait.
Putting aside the exorbitant fees, I was still pleased when we walked into the beautiful lobby. My joy ended there. The air conditioning in the rooms would not go below 77 degrees; it was hot and muggy. It was 100 degrees outside so a cool room was a must. The refrigerator in one of the rooms didn’t work, it also was hot inside. The sink in one of the bathrooms leaked. I reported all of this to the desk 2x, was assured maintenance would be right up however they never came (we stayed in the room one evening waiting.)
I write all of this to say, I would not recommend staying here, especially in the summer. If you do, be prepared to spend a lot more money than for the room and resort fee and don’t expect a 4 star hotel. Buyer beware!!

We visited Clearwater on a day trip whilst staying in St Petes, and absolutely loved the town vibe so decided to stay for a couple of nights! We popped into a few hotels to see what was available, cost etc. When we walked into the Hilton, we were immediately hit by a lovely citrus fragrance and an extremely welcoming front desk attendant called Dylan. He was so friendly and helpful and showed us a couple of the rooms. He even picked up on my husband's Welsh accent and introduced us to a long term employee from Wales who was in the back office! Just so friendly and welcoming. We decided to book there and then, to return the following night for 2 nights stay.
We did not regret it. The hotel was lovely and our room overlooked the pool and the long white sandy beach which stretched for miles.
The room was spacious, location was excellent, close to shops, restaurants etc. Beach access was brilliant, and the beach was always nice and quiet. The pool was perfect for our 3 year old daughter to splash around in, and it was never busy. The staff, including Denzil, were very helpful and friendly. Philip was particularly helpful when it came to serving ice cream to our daughter by splitting into two tubs, and then came round poolside with ice cool towels - these were most welcome.
As an independent travel agent, I will be highly recommending this hotel to my clients, so much so, we are returning ourselves as a family in August 2025 , just waiting for the rooms to become available!
Thank you for making our stay a comfortable one.

Initially we were put in a room that had a lot wrong with it.
-The room smelled like someone had smoked a marijuana joint in it recently,
-the bathroom door is a sliding door with smoked glass. It was difficult to open and close, squeaked a lot. We couldn't leave the bathroom light on at night because of the glass that let all the light through so it was pitch black. We had to stumble our way to and from the bathroom in the night.
- There was supposed to be a hook high up on the bathroom wall but it was missing and there was just a hole in the wall.
- The bathroom sink didn't drain properly and the plug/stopper wouldn't really go up and down.
- The phone didn't work. Maintenance came and said the whole phone line was dead.
- There was little to no wifi in the room that came and went.

After speaking with the front desk, we were later moved to another room with a MUCH nicer view of the beach. The room smelled good, the bathroom door opened and closed easily, there was no missing hook. The wi fi was better in this room but kept dropping. There was a ringing sound whenever the bathroom light was on but it wasn't too terrible. The phone in this room also did not work so any time we needed to ask the front desk for something we had to use our own phones.
We very much appreciated being moved to this room.
The rooms overall were small and a bit cramped for a family of 4 but the beds and pillows were comfortable.

The staff that we interacted with were friendly, polite, and very helpful. In valet parking Lena, Mike, and a Welsh lady (didn't catch her name) were all super friendly with us.
Philip was AMAZING in the recreation department. Extremely patient with all the kids, he put together an incredibly fun scavenger hunt for families to do, every day there 2 craft activities to do, he was professional and organized. I was very impressed.
Another thing worth mentioning - there is a separate pool for kids, a max of 3.5 feet deep. It was absolutely perfect for my kids who are not great swimmers and it was heated to perfection.
The hotel is on the beach so there is no need to cross a busy, two-directional traffic street to get to it and my kids played in the sand for hours!

Honestly surprised at some of these negative reviews. The hotel was beautiful, clean and in the perfect location. We had no issues whatsoever in either of our 2 rooms booked.

Our 2 rooms were on separate floors and both were very nicely decorated with a beach vibe with all the necessities we would need for our 4 night stay. The room was very clean and modern and housekeeping came daily. (that doesn’t happen at all hotels lately) I’ve seen reviews saying the hotel was very outdated but It was not outdated at all. We had a gorgeous view of the pool/beach/pier from the 8th floor. (Room 810 and 724)

The location of the hotel is unmatched. This is our 2nd time here in 3 years and you just can’t beat the beautiful pool and the beach is less crowded than other areas. Yes, beach chairs are pricy but bring a beach blanket from home and you’ll be fine. Or buy a chair at Walgreens across the street if you really need one and want to save some $. The shops and restaurants are steps away from the entrance and absolutely no need for a car.

We ate at the pool daily and the food was quickly delivered and good every time. The service from the staff was excellent. Not just at the pool but everyone we encountered. Very friendly staff.

I highly recommend the Hilton. It’s really beautiful.

Tip:
1) the sand is VERY hot so being flip flops to get to the water once after 11am.
2)Get to the pool before 11am to get a chair
3) ask for a room facing the pier and closest to beach for best view.
4) bring a refillable water bottle and fill with ice. It’s HOT!
