Yes the views from the balcony were incredible and out of the weather parking was a plus. From there on it was all downhill. If you do not like climbing steps, it is a long way up and no elevator was available. We stayed for 3 nights and each morning woke up with back problems because of the mattress which seemingly had been there since 1900. The TV in the smaller bedroom was without batteries in the remote which didn't matter since the TV was inoperable. There is no fan on the balcony making it almost impossible to sit there in hot weather, (10 of 12 months in FL). Taking a shower? Well don't expect sufficient towels or wash cloths, there were enough for one night and that included the wash cloth that was so threadbare that you could look through it and read the morning newspaper. We wondered about the AC operation and found the filter in the wall to have been so completely clogged with dirt as the make it useless. I mean it looked like it hadn't been changed in years. DO NOT drink the water from the refrigerator, since like the ac, the filter needed changing and the water was undrinkable. The floor in the smaller bathroom was so filthy that the tile was permanently stained. AS IF ALL THIS WASN'T ENOUGH, ROACHES ON THE CEILING AND WALLS, THE REALLY BIG ONES (Palmetto bugs) In our extensive travels this was the most poorly maintained property we have ever encountered.

First, let me state that my family has been coming to these condos since the late 90s and have never had any issues before. This time, however, it was awful. We booked for 3 nights, but after our first night, we left. Upon arriving, we immediately noticed the blinds were all askew. Not a big deal since we open them all anyway. Next, upon sitting down on the toilet in the hall bathroom, the toilet shifted. Not happy about that, but oh well. In the kitchen is where the real problems began. In the kitchen utensil drawer, I noticed what looked like roach droppings. A lot. And they were big. My sister suggested it was maybe spices that had spilled. We took everything out and washed it in the dishwasher. There was also a bad moldy smell in the cabinet underneath the drawer. A quick look and everything was disheveled. Best not to disturb whatever mess was there. We could not change into a different unit because when we arrived at 4:15, the office was already closed for the day. Fast forward to dinner. It took 45 minutes for the oven to preheat. 45 minutes! That was not the only appliance that had issues. The fridge had major cracks on the bottom shelf and drawers so had to dodge that everytime putting something in fridge. Another biggie was that as soon as I turned on the water, we immediately smelled that it was sulfer water. Not a problem if there is a functioning water softening system which apparently didn't work either. We decided to call it a night and went to bed. Five minutes after going to bed, my sister went into the kitchen as she had forgotten her glass of water and there were 2 big fat palmetto bugs in the middle of the kitchen floor! Disgusting! We then turned on every light in the house so maybe more bugs wouldn't come out. Wrong! And when I say every light, I mean the ones that worked. There were many lamps that either had burned out bulbs or they didn't work. Needless to say, none of us slept very well. I am a native Floridian and I know there are many bugs in Florida, however, I have always managed to keep them out of my home with regular pest control. Its that simple. No excuses for bugs inside any home, much less a vacation rental. The only thing good I can say about the unit is that the beds were comfortable and the view from the deck is spectacular, but I will never stay here again. I cannot speak to other units, but bugs travel through the walls. No one was staying in the entire #8 building and it was a summer weekend. The place should have been packed. I could not get a reservation in the nearby Nature's Landing as they were full. Not wanting to take a chance of possibly having to fight off the roaches for a second night in a different unit, we made the group decision to leave Old Fenimore Mill. I do have to say that upon checking out the next morning, the lady in the office was very apologetic and did not charge us even for the one night we stayed, so for that they are to be commended. The owners of 8D, however, should be ashamed that they have let the unit fall into such a state of disrepair and bug infestation. Their bug problem affects all the units in that building and reflects badly on the community as a whole. I feel bad for other owners that have taken care of their units.

4 day stay for Memorial Weekend. Our condo was nicely decorated, spacious and had beautiful Gulf views. The condo came furnished with dishes, pots and pans, coffee maker, etc. There is also a washer and dryer in the room. The view from our balcony was gorgeous - especially the sunrise. It's just a short walk to the beach/ park/ town. (we used our golf cart to get around but others had trouble finding a rental - * note: If you need to rent one -get it early) Overall, we had a good stay - However, there were some issues. Laundry Room: The first use of the washer- I found towels and washcloths inside that had been ‘soured’ from sitting. They had to be re-washed, dried and put away. The provided towels were very stained and worn. -just happy we brought our own. Bedrooms: These were decent - mattress was okay. The linens for the bed were in good shape but had oil stains on them (I assumed suntan or baby oil?). Also, the television did not work in our room. Not a deal breaker but it would have been nice to have. Kitchen: Good at best. It was clean, the appliances were decent -everything we needed was furnished, The pots and pans were barely usable because they were very worn and scratched. The coffee pot worked but did not appear to be clean on first use - it also felt like it took years to brew a pot. If you’re close enough - I’d suggest bringing your own coffee maker. Loading the dishwasher after dinner on the first night - there were dishes left inside and they had to be re-washed. Outside space was beautiful and clean. We loved having the private beach area. With that - there was an outside grill but no tables. If your visiting from far away - keep this in mind. You'll need to provide your own seating and table(s). The pool area is nice but small and stayed packed. The last day of our visit the pump broke and we couldn't use it at all. --- WiFi. We were supposed to have it. It never worked. Not once. The town itself is fun for adults. Fantastic food, drink, and live music - but not much to do with kids. There's the playground at Little Shark Park- but that is about it.

Our family stayed over Thanksgiving weekend to enjoy the best old Florida destination of Cedar key. We booked a really nice 3rd floor 2 bedroom condo with great waterfront views of Waaccassa bay and the Gulf of Mexico. Being 2 blocks from town, you can walk to all the cool shops and restaurants or rent a golf cart (best to reserve in advance). The staff at Fenimore is very prompt and friendly. We definitely recommend staying here and will stay here again.

Old Fenimore Mill Condos,11 Old Mill Dr, Cedar Key, FL 32625-0805 We have been here every year since 2014 & this is our 4th time staying at Old Fenimore Mills Condos. The apartments are spacious with great views onto the Gulf. This is the ideal place to getaway from it all whilst sitting on the balcony with the beautiful view of the Gulf, watching the wildlife & sipping a martini. So peaceful. We always take any English friends who come to visit us. This is the only place we stay when travelling to Cedar Key.

Views are beautiful, comfortable, roomy, and price is very reasonable! The master bedroom is large with a nice master bath. The second bedroom does not have an ensuite bathroom. You can walk to all the restaurants or rent a golf cart to explore the island.

This was our second trip here, and we simply love it. Nestled in the corner of the island, right next to "all the action" Cedar Key delivers, and away from it all. Osprey, owls, bats, bobcats (bobcat tracks, that is), raccoons, armadillo and dolphin all visited us. The pool was heated, the hot tub did it's job and we simply were able to get away and deeply enjoy Cedar Key. Our unit was beautiful, clean and had everything we needed. It was on the third floor, which we really enjoyed as we were on the second floor last year, which was perfectly fine as well, but obviously the views from another level are, well, at another level. (We also always rent our golf carts from Milt, who's house it right at the entrance, we like him a lot)

Clean apartments, ready for check in on time, quiet and with great views. You can take your bikes and kayaks off the car and not have to reload for the duration of the trip. It can be pretty "buggy" in August - bring mosquito repellent.
