I wrote a review about the Low-Key Hideaway in 2014 and titled it "Paradise Found". Up to this date, it remains my most popular review. I returned in the summer of 2019 and even though the property was under new management (the lovely Pat Bonish sold it and opened a bar in downtown Cedar Key), it still looked as lovely as it did back in 2014. As far as I could tell, no major changes had been made (and that's definitely a good thing), but the the new owners told us they did a paint job after storm surges damaged the rooms. We were in room 1, an efficiency suite, but the only one without a backdoor leading to the bay and the tiki bar, which happened to be closed one of our two nights becaue of low season. The room is somewhat on the small side for two people, but would be perfect for a solo traveler. The four other rooms are pretty big though, just keep that in mind. The new owners are great people too, they even cut some aloe from their garden to alleviate our sunburn after kayaking and happily leant us mosquito repellent. Also, we accidentaly took our room key with us and only found out after check-out and a 100 miles farther. We mailed it back to Cedar Key, without the owners fussing over it. Cedar Key is laid back, sleepy, calm and off the tourist grid and so is the LKH. One can only hope it remains that way for a long time to come.

Wonderful laid back, funky hotel on the water. The owners were great and attentive to every need or question. Room was very clean and quiet. Full kitchen, den area w/split love seat & tv, large bedroom w/king bed and tv. Bathroom was shower only and small, but very functional. Tiki bar is hard to describe effectively with words. It's a must see! Bartender Remy was awesome! We'll be back.

One of my favorite stops in Florida . Has 7 ( I think ) RV spots right on the water . Small hotel and Tiki Bar are part of the operation . Very informal atmosphere , with plenty of outdoor lounging space with comfortable seating . The Tiki is a popular gathering place in the afternoon for locals and guests . Remi is the bartender and does an outstanding job with specialty drinks such as a Mojito and the " Bloody Mary Expierence " . Highly Recommended . The owners take pride in this little tropical Paradise and are wonderful hosts . Be advised , the resort is not child friendly ! Nothing risque but intended to be a fun get away for adults . The town of Cedar Key is a great place to visit .

If you have a family, this is NOT the vacation spot for you. Our experience with the staff for 20 minutes was horrible. VERY rude and NOT friendly. Much better places on Cedar Key than this dump! Complained about the fact that we had two children with us that were quietly laying in a hammock together. We were told by the bartender at the Tiki hut, more of a crappy shed, that we needed to "Wrap it up." Definitely NOT a kid friendly campground or hotel.

Joshua, We have plenty of signage stating that we are an ADULTS ONLY resort. You had to pass every one of them just to even be on the property. You then were informed personally that we were adults only by the bartender ,who was overly generous by allowing you ONE round of drinks, and stated your children needed to be supervised. Unfortunately, you clearly chose to disregard the bartender, as he had to remind you to supervise the children when they began running around the property. You were then asked to leave when a guest in the hotel was woken up by the noise of the children out by the hammock and called the front desk (the hammock you say they were "quietly" laying on). Our guests pay good money to "get away from it all" ,and you blatantly ignored our policy and disrespected our paying guests. Our staff went out of the way and above our rules to be accommodating, and you abused the privilege and then come on here and spout half truths. But we do have to thank you, from here on out there will be NO EXCEPTIONS to our ADULTS ONLY rule. I am certain all our 5 star reviewers will appreciate it greatly!!
