Dolphin Key Resort is a a retro Motel style Hotel originally built in 1968. I bought it in 2011 and started renovating it right away. The outside of the hotel looks just like it did in 1968 again, but the in side is done in in a Scandinavian Boutique style. Our beautiful pool is 85"F year round, we have bicycles for rent, and Florida is flat, so it's great to bike here. On site we also have the biggest Tiki Bar under one roof in the world. Fun tropical drinks and live entertainment every night. Mostly known for the best Bands in Town on weekends. We are located one block from Down Town Cape Coral, with 35 bars and restaurants to enjoy. You can also go visit the Wicked Dolphin Rum distillery and see how rum is made or go fishing of the pier at the yacht club beach, or enjoy the beach. If you want to shop visit Miramar outlets 45 min from the resort or walk around town and visit the local stores. A drive to Pine Island is strongly recommended if you want to see the genuine real Florida Gulf Coast life. For more serene nature visit Sanibel and Captiva Island. Accommodations are expensive there, so it might be smart to visit, but not to stay there. And of course, I want to welcome you here!

The room was clean, but the beds were really hard and uncomfortable. We had a tiny tv for the room. The Tiki bar on the other side of the pool was FABULOUS ! There was live music and wonderful cocktails. The food is pretty basic. A really fun stop, but you don't need to stay at the hotel to enjoy it. The pool area is kind of small. The pictures of the pool area on the website is accurate, but when you are there, I think 2 or 3 families will make it seem full. There are some areas along the edges to sit and enjoy a cocktail, coffee or tea.

Thank you for the review Theresa. I am glad to see you enjoyed your stay. Many guests do though stay for weeks. I think that is because for the price you have a great location to see the fun of cape Coral's entertainment without driving and the beaty if our ocean and islands without paying an arm and a leg. Hope you stop by again.

Our room was disgusting. Bugs in the shower, bathroom, and coming out of our sink. I really wish I took pictures because they hotel is denying these issues. Room service came in to clean TWICE while we were sleeping two hours before checkout. They also don't let you bring anything along with you to the pool unless its purchased from them or their own tap water. The tiki bar was fun and the band was great but the hotel attached to it will not be seeing our business again. Their management team has also begun responding reviews claiming that disgruntled customers are leaving fake reviews.

Sorry Brianna for your bad experience. I know you were upset when we informed you that you can't bring glass bottles and your own alcoholic beverages to the bar and pool area. If you are reading this review, it is good for you to know that we do not allow you to bring glass bottles or your own alcoholic beverages to the pool area or bar. (you actually sign it upon check-in). If you don't want your room cleaned during the day please put up the "Do not disturb -sign", so house keeping knows. They do clean the rooms daily between 9.30 am and 3 pm.

This is not in the same category as a Ritz Carlton or Maui resort. It’s a reminder of old Florida very well done. We live in the Fort Myers area and this was just a night away for us. Room spotless and well furnished, looks much better inside than the unassuming exterior. Fridge, ice machine, flatscreen tv etc. Friendly staff, free towels for the pool, parking, bars and restaurants nearby. Would visit again, very competitively priced.

I thought I'd already written my review, but it appears I didn't. You need to know this place is seriously quirky. We paid a decent cost for two nights. A Sunday & Monday for $555 CDN. Do read the negative reviews. The pool area was nice. The tiki bar is popular, but there are many of them around. The communication here is poor. The mattresses we had in the two rooms over two nights were terrible. I booked the second night first. Decided I wanted to spend two nights. We were required to move out of our room, got our second room late in the day for the second night. This place has potential. It is loud. Confusing as it could possibly be, but we met people that return each year.

I am so sorry for your bad experience. It is very hard for us to take care of short notice bookings the way we would like to often as our hotel typically is fully booked. And I do agree with you that this year due to lack of staff in the tourism industry there often is not the communication we are used to. Sadly I don't see this changing any time soon, so we are looking for better solutions. The bad mattress is the most upsetting though, what room were you in? This needs to be seen to.

This place is amazing! Staff very friendly, room was clean, comfortable bed with MANY pillows. Pool clean with lots of options for seating or just chilling by the pool. Attached Tiki bar was super fun. My bartender Jen was the freaking bomb!! Lucky to have her the 3 mornings i was there. Makes an awesome mango margarita. Will definitely be back!

From the moment you walk in, you feel welcome. The front desk is accommodating and friendly. There is a water station to fill water bottles and a commercial ice machine to fill coolers. The hotel is centrally located and there are lots of restaurants within walking distance. However, if you want to go nowhere, you can sit at the pool or tiki bar and order food and drinks. The tiki bar is loud at night so if you don’t want noise, get a room that is not near the pool. Or just stay up a little later and go listen to a wonderful band. That’s what I did and I was pleasantly surprised. Also, they were done by around 9:30 or 10 so whoever wrote the review about the loud music is just plain crabby The best thing about the hotel was the room. I am super picky about hotels and I would definitely stay here again. The room was super clean and one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept on. Plus it had tons of super squishy delightful pillows! On top of that, the room was the perfect temperature, something I feel is never right when you go to a hotel. In conclusion, don’t let the bad reviews scare you. The dolphin is a hidden gem.

The live entertainment from the Tiki Bar and Grill across from our room was so loud!! The room was clean and shower had two heads but only one worked. We were told that our room was poolside but all that meant was that it was on the same side of the motel as the pool. Our room was well beyond the pool. No body lotion. No iron but there is a mini fridge with a freezer. I would have rated it much higher were it not for the noise. Really loud!!!

I am so sorry you did not like the live entertainment. We have a solo artist Monday and Tuesday and smaller bands Wednesday and Thursday from 6-9 pm on Fridays it's full bands from 7-11 pm and Sunday from 3.30-7.30 pm. And you are right a room pool side does only mean that your room is located on the pool side of the hotel versus street side. Good for people to know. All 50 pool side rooms are not right in front of the pool.

Hotel staff unfriendly. I only had three hangers and asked if I could have a couple more. They told me to go to the Dollar store and get some. Bed sheets were never changed and had stains on them. Floors were not cleaned or mopped which also had food or something on them. Bathroom not cleaned. Hair in tub and pee on toilet seat. I took pictures of everything. How disgusting!!! Bugs on the side table by the broken lamp. I had to go a couple times to get clean towels, cups and toilet paper. My husband and I were watching TV and a cleaning lady opened the door and just walked right in. Didn’t bother to even knock. We told her to leave what she had but she kept on walking the rest of the way through our room. I highly would not recommend this place, which is not a resort at to anyone!! Their pictures are extremely deceiving. I really would like a refund. The cleaning people didn’t do anything. Disgusting, rude, and highly unclean. Who would want to stay here. We will never be back and spread the word. Worst experience ever!

I am so sorry for your bad experience. As you might have read in Google reviews, the hotel is normally known for the opposite. The mentioned cleaning lady (i.e. house keeper), was let go today. Sadly you were not the only guests affected by her bad performance.

I just stayed at dolphin key resort had a great time Pool and bar is great, every one was extremely nice The tiki bar at night is really busy, but the servers and Bartenders where incredible, you can start a tab at the pool and have drinks and lunch at the pool The rooms are clean, large and pretty basic But if you are going to Cape Coral in March and are overly concerned about the rooms then I feel sorry for you I only crashed there There are hundreds of restaurants in walking distance I will go back
