This review is waaaaaay overdue. Actual stay was Sept of 2020. Since then, fighting cancer and winning took priority….but thanks to great docs/meds/friends/prayer/never say no wife/ I have time to properly thank Traci and the crew at Northern Lights. Because of crazy winds and dangerously high seas legit (6-8 footers….and higher, my pal and I got stuck in their sheltered bay, after our boat taxi back to our campsite wisely turned back, and my bro and I needed a place to stay. Traci bent over backwards to accommodate us. The only lodging available was the top of the line 12 person luxury home….and with no safe way to get back she went overboard to take care of us. If you want to stay in a beautiful, well maintained and well kept resort…..with clearly “the right kind of people”, this is it. You’ve found it. Look no further.…
Northern Lights Resort is a fantastic Northwoods destination! It's got it all... beautiful setting, clean, comfortable, modern cabins, cheerful staff. Tracy and Steve ( owners) will do their very best to make sure your stay is a memorable one!
We stayed in the Eagles Nest. Our accommodations were clean, cute and cozy. We did not fish, but rather spent 3 days hiking in Voyageurs National Park. Tracy is an excellent hostess. Warm and friendly.
Our group is a fishing group we have been staying in the caribou for fishing opener six years in a row very nice accommodations (2022 already booked). World class fishing Tracy and Steve treat us like family very nice people. You can enjoy the excellent service from staff members or you can do your own thing very flexible. The resort in my opinion, is one of the best on kab, we plan to make it our long standing tradition. I would recommend to anyone. Thank you Tracy and Steve for the memories !
We have had a very stressful year and wanted to get away and relax! NLRO definitely made that possible! They went above and beyond to make are trip fabulous! We are definitely going to be back next year and we are hoping to bring friends with to share the beauty of this resort and amazing lake. WE are LAKE KAB HOOKED! A BIG Thank you to the entire NLRO staff, especially Tracy and Taylor! Karri Creamer, Jim Greiner and Creasy (dog)! Miss you guys! 😍
Rented the Bennie II yesterday for a day cruise. Beautiful resort and setting. On target, friendly, helpful and efficient guest service. Thank you to Taylor, Tracey & Mike for all your help! I will definitely be utilizing this outfitter in the future.
We caught a very nice northern pike and unfortunately their “trained “ fish cleaning and fillet personnel totally butchered the fish!! They even admitted they had no clue on how to clean fish........ I have photos, secondly it was in violation of MN fishing regs... the boat we had reserved was booked to another customer and we got a”upgrade” we were concerned that we would have to switch boats!! I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THEM FOR SEVERAL REASONS!! Contact me for more info..
Had a great time fishing, fantastic cabins and the help there really did a great job. Availability of renting boats and going out fishing every day is great. Sure made my nine hour travel worthwhile. Stayed at the Caribou cottage great screened in front porch. I highly recommend.
It's location is excellent if you want to visit Voyageurs National Park. Also, just down the road is a trail head for a very nice hike. The location on the lake is also excellent as well. Beautiful location. Here though is what you need to know if you plan a visit (especially if you are not local, meaning that you flew into another location and rented a vehicle). There is a charge of $25 for towels (the towels we were given were certainly not hotel quality and given the number of days we were staying were insufficient). The following was not found in the kitchen: vegetable peeler, sharp knives, no broom, no dish drainer, no sugar, salt or pepper. There were no coffee filters (wrong size), no coffee, no garbage bags (wrong size)and the beer mugs were dirty The bath/shower plug was broken as well as the kitchen sink plug. There was no shampoo. Additionally, they charged an extra fee for using your credit card. The details as outlined for the cabin were quite lacking, and that there is the sense of nickel and dining the guest. When we have traveled to cabins in many states, we never had the myriad of issues that I have outlined above. Note, as each issue came up we had some of them addressed, but we were here to hike and visit the Park, not spend time with the staff trying to address what was lacking. Also, the WiFi was intermittent at best. The TV/DVD player hookup also had to be fixed. …
