I was worried about staying here after reading some of the reviews. I even brought my own sheets and blankets in case I felt grossed out. I don’t regret that decision but only because the bedding was not all white and I prefer white. But I didn’t feel grossed out at all. I was pleasantly surprised when we walked into the room. It was very clean and comfortable. There were sugar ants in the kitchen so be sure to put all food in refrigerator. The location was great! Walking distance to all shops and the beach. The lady who checked us in at the boca resort was so friendly and helpful! I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

Definitely not as bad as the previous reviewers experience. Palmetto Inn is as advertised: 3 star accommodation in an amazing location for the more budget minded travelers . Honestly we almost turned around approaching the door as our entry way looked so run down (We stayed in the Snook suite at the rear of the house) . Opened up to a very strong smell of bleach in hallway. Through the little hallway is a decent galley kitchen and tiny living area which is where the TV is . Tiny bedroom that just squeezed in a queen bed and one dresser. Tiny bathroom with shower. It was all squeaky clean -other than a few sugar ants. Looked recently repainted. Weird lack of decor - here is where it gets a bit sketchy : no pictures on the walls and instead some very bossy signs posted ( guessing the result of some less than ideal guests?) Coffee provided, toiletries provided , towels ( but only one large towel? ) clean linen , mattress firm, shower fine ( just very small!) . Perfect location for walking to the restaurants and lighthouse tower.

Stayed here for the weekend. It was in the center of the Island, in the town with everything walking distance. Alot of things were closed and not running at 100% due to the Covid. BE AWARE that everything closes early (8pm).
As Far as the Inn goes our room had everything you need for a getaway. We got Bikes and a grill. I'll be back !

Limited options in Boca Grande so I decided to try the Palmetto Inn. Stayed in the sister property(Boca Grande Hotel) last year. Rooms at the Palmetto are larger and accommodate larger groups. Unfortunately, this was a mistake. I have stayed at many 3 star properties in the past but this is not one of them. There is a tremendous lack of attention to making these properties clean and comfortable. Part of the problem could be that the hotel management is located at the sister property and no one is onsite. I will not stay here again. Here is a list of my issues:
1. Bedding is some of the oldest and dirtiest that I have ever experienced. Plan to bring your own sheets and comforters. I am surprised that we do not show signs of bedbug bites.
2. Furniture is as random as anything I have ever seen. They obviously outfitted the apartment with the cheapest things they could find with no rhyme or reason to the layout.
3. Window dressings are literally falling apart. I tried to open up the blinds that separate the apartment from the screened in porch and the entire window treatment fell apart.
4. Floors have not been properly cleaned in years. Additionally, they are not level. There is a difference in flooring height between rooms that is perfect for stubbing your toe.

What has the potential to be a nice property is dark, dingy and ugly. I travel a lot for work and pleasure and have been disappointed before but never left a negative review as I did not want to hurt business. However, in this case, I want to give a strong warning not to stay here. Hopefully, management will get the point and make some improvements.

This place is a crap hole hiding as an bed and breakfast. The bed was rough, but doable. The bathrooms ... taking a shower is an experiment in hot/cold fusion.

The toilet is not usable to sit down for anyone over 5 foot 6.

There are literal holes in the walls.

Internet is terrible.

The room had a general moldy smell upon entering.

Avoid this place at all costs.

It smelled really damp and a little moldy. I had to Lysol the couch before sitting on it. Location location location the location was great. The place was clean even though it smelled. The girl in the office was super. You can walk everywhere and the beach was beautiful. Will probably stay elsewhere if I come back. The locals were mostly rude.

I had heard about Boca Grande 32 years ago and finally made it there to check it out. When we walked into the Redfish Suite at the Palmetto Inn our immediate reaction was a pleasant surprise how nice, clean, and accommodating it was and to wish our reservations had extended more nights. A fantastic bargain at $150 per night too for this time of year in southwest Florida.

The Florida travel guides all leave out one important fact about the traffic being an unrelenting nightmare among roads, lights, and freeways designed to handle nowhere near the volume they get but that mess is left behind right at the bridge onto Gasparilla Island and if you can be blessed with staying on this island or in Boca Grande for a few days by all means do so. Everything in the village is an easy walk and there are plenty of places to eat and shop.

Bev, the owner, treats everyone as a good innkeeper would and that sets the Palmetto apart from other places we noticed. Our suite, the Redfish, had a full kitchen with small living room and the bedroom and bathroom were separated by a door. It was amazingly quiet both nights. The rooms and public places in the house are squeaky clean.

Some things you need to know:
A toll is collected every time you cross the bridge onto the island, $6
Rent a bicycle or a golf cart, there is a well marked, paved, non motorized pathway running north to south down the spine in the center of the island and gets you anywhere you may want to go.
Our favorite place to eat breakfast was the 3rd Street Cafe and it is just around the corner from the Palmetto Inn. They have a charming outdoor patio and many healthy items on the menu.
The beach can be accessed at the dead end of nearly every street near the downtown or a short walk down the pathway to the Range Light beach parking lot.
Keep in mind nearly all business close and they roll up the sidewalks by 9:00 PM, including most restaurants.
The one block Banyan Street (2nd Street) is truly an unusual sight to see so don't miss it.
The Palmetto Inn is currently listed for sale. While we don't know how long it has been listed or an asking price, the days of its cozy, quaint, and comfortable atmosphere the way it exists now may be numbered so don't delay if you have a notion to come here.

What a darling couple that owns this cute old florida style inn! Upon arrival we were greeted with friendly smiles and fresh gardenias that they had picked for us from their garden. Stayed in the Snook Suite, incredibly clean and quaint. Enjoyed our stay. If it is your first trip to Boca Grande, make sure to walk around and check out the banyan trees.

I traveled to Boca Grande without hotel reservations. When I got there, I called the numbers listed in one of the tourist guides and The Palmetto had the best rates I could find (Gasparilla Island is an expensive place to stay). The owners are gracious and hospitable and my apartment was spotlessly clean and well-appointed. I had the Snook suite, private entrance in the back of the property where I could keep my bicycle without locking it. I had a fully equipped kitchen, dining area, living room and bedroom. The hotel is right in the middle of town, walking distance to all the shops and restaurants and just a couple of blocks from the bicycle/golf car trail that runs the length of the island. The island is quiet and peaceful, especially at night. This will be my choice for future visits, for certain.
