We had a great time in this hotel. It is the accommodation we were provided for our as stay as a G League team. Very nice restaurant in the hotel. Rooms and amenities were great. Very close to Philadelphia. Will stay here for sure if I'm ever in the area again. Thanks.
I always really appreciate the professionalism at this hotel. They employ really great folks at this hotel. I enjoyed my stay this past time. Jen at the front desk, especially, was incredibly helpful and bastion of solutions, when we had problems. She is incredible. But really across the board, excellent employees here. In the restaurant also, Tay and Amber were really great, as always. This is my hotel whenever I stay in Wilmington, and recommend it. My critique and what made me wanted to give this review a lesser star initially, is that for the first time my room on the 8th floor, really began to look like it needed a bit of a touch up. I hate to say. Some fraying wallpaper in the bathroom and the hotel bathroom door needed a serious paint job. But I got to imagine it has been hard to get some of these items done during this pandemic. Either way, what truly elevates this place are its people. Very representative of Wilmington. Also, it has a small but really effective gym. Also the restaurant here is truly pretty good, TBH. Try the Brussel sprouts.…
Stayed at the #Westin Wilmington a #Marriott Hotel for the Delaware State University's President's Scholarship Ball December 11 to 12. The Ball was wonderful, but not the Westin. I reserved a King Bed Suite on August 2, 2021 because friends were attending and I wanted to be able to hang in the room afterwards without invading our personal space. It was my best friends birthday on Sunday. We even brought snacks for the suite. The reservation was accepted, but when we got to the hotel at 5pm on the 11th we were given a regular room with a king bed.🤬 We went back to the front desk to show our reservation and they explained that they had oversold the suites and said something about the sales team arbitrarily moving guests to regular rooms and I was only charged us for the regular room rate. It was like I should be happy we were given a room with a king bed at the regular rate. I was not going to argue with the front desk staff. We were already late for the cocktail reception and the Ball started at 6. We had just driven up from Dover and still had to get dressed, so we had to accept the room provided, but I am beyond livid.🤬 I had to calm myself down so as not to let this impact my enjoyment of the Ball. My husband and I kept getting in each other's way as we got dressed for the event. The Ball ended at 11 and I had to cancel my entertainment plans for afterwards. Thank goodness I did not offer for anyone to stay in our "suite" because there was no space in our room to even invite people in. I am beyond disappointed at the #westinhotel wilmington and the #Marriott chain for this SNAFU! This should not have happened and a simple "I'm sorry" by the front desk staff doesn't cut it.🤬 If I had ordered a regular room, this would not have been a problem, but I specifically reserved a suite and had my plans set on having a suite. This was our first adult event since the pandemic. The only good thing was that I did not have to go outside to get to the Ball. I am totally disappointed at how the #Westin Wilmington Riverfront botched my weekend plans.…
Given the recent reviews I opted for the West in primarily because i liked the location and it was less expensive than the nearby Hyatt. Had a nice room on the 4th floor, comfortable bed, quite, and a great shower. Staff were nice and everything in the room worked. The web site incorrectly indicated the restaurant did not serve breakfast on the weekend which was not the case - breakfast is served every day. Only ate in the restaurant in the morning but service was prompt and the price was reasonable. Gym on the second floor was well equipped and never busy during my three day stay. Nice trail along the river a short distance away and four restaurants within a 5 or 6 minute walk.
Let’s start with being told at 11 that cannot check in until 3. Maybe I missed something but ok. Then at 3 told room not ready and would be a few minutes. One hour, and 50 guests later, I had to show and state that I was dissatisfied and asked he concierge to get the manager. Rather than coming out the manager told the concierge to ask me what “I wanted”. I had to clearly state that I will tell the manager what the problem was. 15 minutes later Martin comes out. Upon explaining, all he could say was “I am sorry”. I asked when checkout was and they said 12. I noticed in the room it says 3pm. Then to further add to that day, the room next door had a dog that would not stop barking. I like dogs. Had dogs for decades but never did we impose our dogs on someone. When finally reaching the concierge at the desk, he could care less but to say it is a dog friendly hotel. Now let’s get to breakfast. They mad a point to state that was breakfast etc etc. What they do not tell you is that on the weekends the restaurant is closed and what you have are ridiculous “heated up” options and ridiculous price ($8 per biscuit). It doesn’t take long to realize that the Westin is not much more than a glorified and overpriced kennel, and that the guests are truly treated like dogs. Sorry Marriott, from here on you can be assured that this is one place that I will never stay again or recommend and advise those that are accustomed to getting actual service to look elsewhere.…
Do not stay here. The bathroom was dirty, breakfast not up to par and the room never got below 76 degrees. This hotel falls FAR below Marriott standards. We will not be back. We stay in Marriott brand hotels because they generally have standards. This one does not come close to hitting the mark.
This is a nice hotel that is very close to the highway if you are traveling any where in the area. It's on the river and in about 5 years, there will be plenty of restaurants and shops around it but for now, the food options are limited. That is really the only slight negative I have about the property. The staff is very friendly, our room was very clean and the small breakfast menu and coffee is good. Two huge parking lots for parking so that is never na issue. We stayed here for a trip to the University of Delaware and found the hotel to be great. I would stay again!!
This is my favorite hotel in Wilmington, DE. I have spent many nights here, over a month all together. The hotel sits alongside the Christina river and the fantastic running, biking-- or walking -path along the river. Beautiful views and great restaurant options. For my fellow runners, there is one big appeal" I have spent many runs on this path that leads you to one of the best trail runs in Delaware. It is located near a nature preserve on one end and the multiple restaurants, cafes and bars in the other direction. It also has a good gym that is still open during the pandemic, and usually only 2 or 3 people max. The front desk staff has been truly, truly excellent. During my stays the overwhelming majority of the front desk staff have gone above, and way beyond, in helping my colleagues and I when we stay there. So many great folks including James, and so many others, who exemplify how great the service can be here. Nicole, who is the head front desk agent, is also phenomenal. She has been incredibly helpful--not just one time, or a handful of times, but ALL the time. She is a solutions person who always has an answer or recommendation. I have bumped up my rating from a 4 to a 5 based solely on the great work she does! Cant say or write enough. There are some areas where they need to upgrade. I had an issue w/ the cleaning of my room--but it was resolved (bc of the front desk folks!) Did I mention the great location to so many hot spots along the river and downtown like Market street? And right off 95. Great spot for a weekend in Wilmington or for business trip. Also, it has great food in the restaurant--try the Biden Burger, salads, soups and the roasted Brussel sprouts.…
I cannot say enough good things about Nicole, the front desk supervisor. After a miss understanding , she went above and beyond to ensure that everything was to my satisfaction . Room was very clean and prompt room service.
I have stayed at this hotel for several weeks in the past few months and can report that it is not a good experience. first the good: I enjoy the food at the restaurant on site. it's convenient to the waterfront, which is nice. now the not so good: there are always lines at the front desk and the people working are not very friendly or helpful. any time I had an issue they were unable to help. I had several accounting issues that I could never get resolved on more than one stay. it amazed me that each employee seems so burdened when you ask for help. my room had loud banging in the walls (I believe this was from the elevator) and couldn't switch rooms, nor were they able to fix it. I had to turn my laptop into a white noise machine to fall sleep. my room was dirty when I checked in. dirty carpets, shower, and an actual blood stain (!) on the bed skirt. that's disgusting and inexcusable. the hotel feels like it's 30 years old and tired. it opened in 2014. I don't understand how it feels so dated and worn. I left belongings behind in the chair. they ask you use a website to file a claim - I did and immediately got an email back saying they didn't have the items. I know exactly where I left them in the room, so the fact of the matter is the items were either tossed or taken by housekeeping. overall I would not recommend this hotel, nor would I stay here again. I would recommend the adjacent Homewood Suites by Hilton. it's a much better run property.…
