Hotel's Favorite
This was our 2nd time staying at the Avenue Inn. After the first time, there was no question we would return. Even with the pandemic, we are so glad we decided to stay again. The overall service, amenities, cleanliness, professionalism, and quality continued to surpass our expectations. The hotel stepped up to the plate to provide clean, safe, and socially distanced accommodations while maintaining a positive climate. THE STAFF: Professional and personable, as always. They bend over backwards to make each guest feel like family. It's not fake...it's genuine. From the front desk to the breakfast area to the cleaning and maintenance staff, they all exhibit professionalism and genuine kindness. The day we arrived, Dallas made our check-in process seamless. Even with all the changes due to COVID, he explained everything thoroughly and made things easy to understand. That first evening, we discovered our room refrigerator was not working properly. Within 10 minutes of reporting it to the front desk, someone was at our door (wearing a mask and maintaining proper social distancing) to check it out. He said he would be back in 45 minutes with a brand new refrigerator. Sure enough, we had a new refrigerator installed within 45 minutes. When I pushed the wrong button on the TV remote and messed up our TV, Cheyanne came within 5 minutes and reprogrammed it for us. Graham was extremely helpful in explaining the rewards program to me and resolved an issue that prevented me from accessing my account. Lew transported us to and from the beach with a smile and always said, "If you need anything at all, just call me" each time he dropped us off. The breakfast crew was super-pleasant and followed all the new rules for safety. THE AMENITIES: The pool and hot tub were clean and not crowded at all. The gym was also well-sanitized and not busy. The morning coffee was ready to go early and served in a safe way. The wine & cheese time (my favorite!) was still available and served quickly and safely. The free breakfast was still served, but it was different this year due to COVID. Upon check-in, we selected our preferred time slot, as well as if we wanted a cold continental or a hot breakfast. The choices were basically the same each day, but they were still delicious and filling. We could eat in the breakfast room (distanced) or take it elsewhere. On a side note, I was pleased to learn that all the extra paper and plastic serving containers are recycled there, even if they were tossed in the regular trash. Lew still provided free trips to and from the beach, so that was nice not having to carry the chairs (provided by hotel) and other belongings. CLEANLINESS: This is always an important thing for me. I was not disappointed. All the rules were followed regarding the current situation. Lots of cleaning and disinfecting going on. All staff and guests wore masks in the building. Disposable food and drink containers were used. Cleaning staff does NOT enter your room while you are there. To get clean towels and linens, just call the front desk and leave your dirty items in a large sealed bag (provided) outside your door. Ours were replaced within a half hour. Same with garbage. Super easy system. Toiletries were replaced whenever requested. Upon our arrival, our room met my strict expectations. Everything was very clean and orderly. There was a little sand on the shelf under the microwave, but hey...it's the beach. That stuff can get anywhere. ;) LOCATION: This hotel is just over a block from the beach. One side is facing Wilmington Avenue, and the other is on Rehoboth Avenue. We have stayed on the Wilmington side both years, and it's been very quiet. It's a short walk to the beach (transportation is provided by hotel). It's also super close to all the stores and restaurants. There is an entrance/exit on both streets. There is a spa with many services within the building. The location is very quiet, but it's also within easy walking distance to the beach, boardwalk, and other attractions. Perfect, in my opinion. From what I understand, there is a separate building owned by the Avenue Inn. The rooms are less expensive, but it's next to a noisy establishment. I can only speak from our experience in the main building. Sooo...if you are looking for the best of the best, The Avenue Inn is your place.

I only go to name brand hotels and I wanted to stay close to the beach in Rehoboth, so I chose this place purely on location and reviews. My husband and I are early 50s and we came with our high school graduate. We were lucky enough to grab a week in June. All dates were booked by April. We didn’t get the main building. We got the Avenue II just down a few stores. The parking is free but the spots are tight. At first glance I turned my nose up at the motel looking building. I’m handicapped and was not thrilled with getting the top floor with no elevator. It’s 2 flights. I’ve been fine the whole trip. Good exercise. We opened the door and the room was huge! Wow! Two Queen beds, a breakfast table, a sofa, a fridge and microwave. The bathroom was also a good size. The room was clean, cool and smelled fresh. Even though there is a restaurant/ beer garden next door, it’s quiet. We got the back overlooking the parking area which has a huge porch with lounge chairs and rocking chairs. The hotel provides a stretch golf cart to shuttle you and your complimentary beach chairs and towels. Score! Lew, the driver is super friendly. The staff here is super friendly and helpful! I’ve gotten so much help and advice from Shannon at the front desk. Jessica, Michael and Margaret have also been super helpful and always available for a chat with guests. How often do you stay some place where you know the hotel staff? Nightly, Liz makes the most delicious chocolate chip cookies. The also offer wine at other times. All complimentary, as is the breakfast in the morning. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in Rehoboth Beach.

From the hotel staff to the amenities, it was fantastic. The cleanliness of this facility was far beyond what I could have ever expected. My wife and I celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary and decided to go to somewhere we've never been...Rehoboth. Not being from the area, I started my search. From the reviews, the first place to show up was The Avenue Inn. I called Margaret in reservations. She was a wealth of knowledge about the area and very assuring that this was the place to be, She was spot on. When we checked in, we met Shannon at the front desk. Another incredibly nice and professional member of their staff who couldn't do enough to ensure our overnight stay was memorable. This was our first time there, but we'll definitely be back. Great place great staff !!!
