Detailed Reviews
This hotel was close to the action. It is an older property and not fancy, but seemed well-maintained and the staff was great. The parking lot had decent sized parking spaces compared to others we have stayed at in the past. The bathroom had shampoo and body wash dispensers mounted on the wall, which was a nice touch. There was enough storage for all our "stuff" in the room, and a little space out in the hallway/balcony with 2 chairs and a little table to sit outside. We used that area to dry swim suits mostly. There were hoses in the parking garage and in the pool area to rinse sand off of items, or ourselves. The pool was indoors and always had enough towels. There was a good size rooftop balcony/deck area next to the pool enclosure where people could hang out. I thought our bed was comfortable. The sofa bed was perfect for our six year-old, but I don't think I'd find it comfortable as an adult.

The Admiral is a clean, well-maintained and recently renovated hotel located just behind the Rehoboth Beach boardwalk, right on Baltimore Avenue in the middle of the town. We were on the 5th floor with a nice view of the boardwalk & ocean. Our 2 queen bed room was nicely renovated (we've stayed here many times before) with big, comfy beds, nice TV, bigger "mini" refrigerator, and an ample-sized vanity area outside of the bathroom. Front desk staff were very welcoming and helpful. There is free coffee available in their bright, clean lobby.
The elevator is small and a bit worn, but the hotel overall is clean and neat.
The Admiral is great for families and/or beach lovers, because of its immediate proximity to beach. a quick 2 minute walk puts you right in the middle of the boardwalk, near the Rehoboth Beach Patrol HQ & public bathrooms, and two walkways to the beach. Also nearby is the Sands Hotel Tiki Bar, situated right on the boardwalk.
The Admiral also has a nice indoor pool and outdoor private deck off of pool area. It's close to some wonderful restaurants on Baltimore (JAM Bistro, Cafe Azafran, Blue Moon, The Pines) but also to family friendly places like Grotto Pizza and Nicola Pizza.
As I said, we've stayed here multiple times over the years and we love the location and the price.

Located near the beach made it easy to tote all the chairs, mats, towels, etc. The Admiral was close to many restaurants that offered take out options that we could bring back to our room and enjoy and then relax up on the patio after a family swim in the inviting pool on the fourth floor. The view from there encompassed the main Rehoboth strip and music could be heard from the gazebo where a band was playing the night that we arrived. There were plenty of tv channels to choose from and the mini fridge kept our snacks and drinks cold. Even a coffee pot was in my room but with very good dispensed coffee in the lobby there was no need to make a pot. We chose not to have daily housekeeping that was offered and requested fresh towels to be delivered outside our door where we placed our used ones and trash outside our door or in the bins located in each stairwell. We could ask for housekeeping if we had needed it. Very well run establishment that I hope to return to again and again.

+1
Rooms renovated ( quickly ) the outside was my biggest issue the ice room had no lights on the second floor very creepy at 9pm the walkways were filthy with spills and dirt. Hole above the shower weirded me out there was moldy caulking around the toilet and the restroom grout was dark from dirk stains. The housekeeper cleaning the room next to us was using a filthy dust mop to clean the floors. The main office and location were great, parking was available for free but very tight for large vehicles . The location was great and price was reasonable.

Response from Chad Moore, Owner at Admiral on Baltimore
Responded Nov 7, 2020
Lizzy, thank you for taking the time to leave a review of The Admiral on Baltimore. I appreciate you taking the time to thoughtfully compliment and critique our family-owned hotel. I agree with your comments about the ice room; we could certainly use some better lighting in there. I will communicate this concern with our maintenance team so that future guests have a more positive experience. As it relates to your comments about the room's cleanliness, I can assure you that our housekeeping staff follows top-notch cleaning protocols. In fact, we just recently overhauled our cleaning process to more effectively deep-clean all guest rooms. Additionally, we plan on retraining all of our staff at the start of each season so that they don't forget some of the important steps of the cleaning process. I would be surprised if there was mold in your room and black dirt in the tile grout. More likely than not, that is some alternate type of residue. We regularly check our guest rooms to make sure there is no mold present. Nonetheless, I will have of our staff do a once over of all guest rooms this week. As I have hopefully indicated in my response, I take all reviews personally and will do my best to fix the issues you highlighted here. Hopefully next time you stay with us, we have addressed the concerns you raised in this review. In the meantime, please stay healthy and enjoy the last month or so of Fall.

The best thing about this property was the location. I also really enjoyed having a microwave and a refrigerator in the room. That is something that was very useful, especially since it was much easier to buy food from either The Fresh Market or Giant or any of the other stores around there.
Unfortunately, the room was not cleaned very well. The toilet was not cleaned, and the bathtub was not draining very slowly. I had discovered this a few hours after we had checked in and unpacked. After a long drive and day, I did not want to deal with having to pack everything back in and wait for another room.
These shortcomings would not be so glaring if the cost of the room was not so high. It was disappointing that the bathroom was in such poor and sub-par condition. No matter what someone pays for a hotel, they should at least expect the toilet to be clean and for the bathtub to be draining well.
The staff were all professional and polite and I have no complaints about anyone who I interacted with.
Unfortunately, due to the high price of the hotel along with the condition of the room, I would not give a strong endorsement to ths hotel.

The Admiral has a fantastic location and is ultimately why we chose to stay there. I had considered another hotel that included breakfast but was several blocks from the beach. I don’t regret my decision because location was of utmost importance. At first the room appeared clean, but after walking around without shoes for just a minute or two our feet were BLACK. It was very clear that only a vacuum or broom was used to get rid of the sand, but they really should steam mop or something between guests or at least occasionally?! It was terrible! We had a 2.5 and 1 year old with us and I never let the 1 year old touch the floor because it was so nasty.
Also worth noting is the awful parking situation. Obviously real estate is tight and they’re trying to maximize space, but the spots were so tiny for anything larger than a compact car. I was grateful for the free parking (also a big draw) but I ran to the store one night and when I got back there were only two spots that were impossible to park in because they are so small and there was bad parking by other guests and poorly placed columns. If another car is even on the line there is no space for a car to park next to it. You’ve been warned - don’t bring your nice car that you don’t want to get dinged!

Already looking forward to staying here again! The location is perfect and our room was clean and had an updated, fresh feel to it. We really liked that the room had wood floors instead of carpeting, it is much cleaner and is ideal for the beach. We enjoyed the pool and being able to use the hose to rinse off after a day at the beach before going back to the room.

We had a weekend getaway as a family, but I had a wedding to photograph at the hotel next door. We chose this hotel for our family since it has an indoor pool. It was super convenient to everything you could want to see and visit on the boardwalk! Great views and easy parking. The rooms have a laminate flooring, which we loved for cleanliness and sandy toes. The beds were super comfortable and clean. Check in and out was also easy. The parking lot is on the 2nd floor, which I liked being off sea level. Great food an attractions seconds from the main door— and the beach! Super convenient access to it all. My one and only complaint is that there wasn’t an upper safety lock on our main door. We only had a deadbolt style lock that attached to the handle, which was easy for my toddler to open the main door and open. We had to move our table in our room behind the door at nighttime in fear of her being able to open the door in the middle of the night and elope.

This is a great hotel to stay at for location alone. It is right on the boardwalk, not even a 5 minute walk from our hotel room to the sand! We had a 4 yr old and 2 yr old with us and they could handle the walk to the beach. Room was clean when we arrived. Our kids loved the indoor pool. While there was no daily housekeeping due to COVID-19, the housekeeping staff were always attentive and asked if we needed anything any time we passed them by. We would definitely stay here again!

This was our first stay with the Admiral and it was so great! The front desk staff were friendly and got us checked in quickly and we found our room to be clean with fresh smelling linens and a personalized welcome note from the Head of Housekeeping, Tammy. The location is great and since the hotel has parking we were able to walk to all the places we wanted and never had to move the car. We could see the ocean from the balcony and there was a Belky’s arcade right around the corner that was tons of fun for kids and adults! I will definitely be staying at this location again! Tammy seemed very passionate about her guests having a nice safe time and I felt if I needed anything she would help make it happen.
