I have stayed at the Whitson for 30 years and never had to cancel. We recently got a puppy and had to cancel since The Whitson does not allow pets. I called 5 days prior to our reservation and I was told a two week cancellation is required but I cannot find that policy anywhere. I lost an entire night... More

This Guest House has been a favorite of ours for more that 17 years. We have raised our children here for the summer and we absolutely love the place! It's our opportunity to "unplug" the family with no TV/Phone/ipads/etc. We read, walk the boardwalk together, walk the shops on the Boulevard, eat at all of the local places and go... More

Not sure what theBfamily2014 is talking about. We stayed there twice last summer and our stay was just what we expected for an older beach house. It was clean but bare bones. The beds were decent, small refrigerator in each room, ceiling fan, and air conditioner. It's the beach - we don't spend time in our rooms except to sleep... More

You think the lady is a little cranky? Wait to speak with the new "owner". The deposit for reservations for next year's summer used to be one night's fee. Around February, a card was sent to request the deposit. What was our surprise when this winter we got a card 8 times higher than expected. Usually I just write the... More

I've stayed here numerous times and it is a good location. That being said this time turned me off completely. The old woman yelling" Your not getting your money back" even though she rented our "room" which I use slightly because it was on the porch, minutes after I told her we had a minor emergency . we just booked... We stay here every summer. It's clean, it's within walking distance of beach. Like Mareya1 mentioned, barebones amenities. The woman owner can be a bit cranky, though all the reviews on here say they were very friendly. Maybe I came at the wrong time. :) Overall, a great place to go to sleep in between walking around the beach and... More

Location is superb, rooms are clean and the folks are very friendly and welcoming. I stayed with my mom who's in her 80s, so it was perfect as its' so close to the beach and the town center. No TV or wifi, but our room had a mini fridge. There is a coffee pot downstairs for those of us who... More

We stay at The Whitson for a few days nearly every summer. This year marks the thirty-fifth year. It's a homey, unpretentious guest house. In our younger days we'd get a room without bath and share facilities down the hall. This year we have three generations staying. Everything is within walking distance.

We stay at the Whitson every summer and think its a great value. A block from the beach and two blocks from the center of town. The rooms on the top foor all have their own bath and a mini fridge as well as individual air conditioning units. The rooms are clean, just dated. The kids love waking up and... More
