It shows how bad management is there. They still are listed here but the hotel was sold to the county and is a homeless shelter now. They did a renovation to get it up to Sheraton standard and to remove mold. Now they sold it. Makes no sense. Very sad!
I booked this room last August 2020 via Hotels.com for May 2021 weekend. It was by chance that I had checked the hotel by google it today and found that it was permanent closed. I didn't get any notification and it was good thing i checked now because had I showed up with my confirmation, I would find that it's now a homeless shelter. They should have informed customers who've made future reservation.
We had a King suite for a little mini vacation. Rooms very spacious and clean, Amenities and kitchen facilities were great. We just did not like the fact that while we were charged for two days, on the second day the room was not made up at all. We had to ask just to get fresh towels, soap and coffee etc. They blamed Covid... They have a pretty nice gym which we used. The hotel was not too full and we got an upper floor. The reception said that the top floor was full. All in all it's a great hotel with a very elegant lobby. Will recommend.
I had a brief stay at this property but it was good. There were good controls in place for COVID but I wish the lounge was open to pick up a water or soda as it looked very nice. Due to the closed road, it’s a little challenging to get to the hotel depending on where you’re coming from, so follow google maps directions.
No is the word of choice here at the Sheraton. No restaurant, no fitness center, no maid services, no fresh towels, no problem solving and the big surprise - No hot water. We’re here four days you may want to mention that at check in. It’s a difficult time for all of us but a business should try to soften things for their clients. I do for mine and I’m not even in the service industry. After 22 years as a Marriott member I can assure you having an elite status “ain’t what it used to be” and staying at the Sheraton Downtown Wilmington is a cold experience indeed.
I attended a conference / training over the weekend and I don't live far. I didn't stay at the Sheraton so I can coment on the rooms. However, the common area of the hotel (that wasn't being renovated was beautiful. Also, the staff was outstanding. They were so accommodating and helpful. We needed to load and unload boxes for the conference and the front desk tracked down a luggage cart for us and helped us take our training material to the meeting room. Anytime we needed anything, they were on it. Well done Sheraton Wilimington - South.
the hotel has awesome staff...and that makes up for the issues with the remodel. the room i was in was a remodeled room and was good...but some disappointment was to be found...the water to the wet bar is not connected so it does not work. the bathroom sink handles are incorrectly installed and hard to turn and hard to get to stop. the shower control is u see the shower head and only reachable while standing in the shower... the breakfast is good and as i said everything with all staff members was outstanding
Hubby and I stayed at this hotel while visiting Delaware. He came to DE a few times on business trips but never stayed at this hotel. The hotel was going under construction, so the looks of the interior building was different than usual and it was kind of empty on the day we arrived. I came in first after dropping Hubby at his business deals. I got hungry so I went straight to the restaurant after checking in. I was assisted by Terron, the waiter, who placed the order for me. I had a chicken quesadilla. It was good but it took too lo long to prepare. Terron was a very good waiter. Later that evening I wanted to use the printer but unfortunately, the hotel's printer wasn't working. Terron, who happened to be at the lobby helped me out. Although unsuccessful, he did a great job using all the options. He knew the technology and system they use for the hotel. He could have fixed the problem if I was willing to wait but I just couldn't wait because I was so tired due to the trip we made that early AM. We tried to get someone at the front desk to print but the person already left. At this time I started to think that the hotel should do better. The next day I used the gym to work out and then I met the General Manager of the hotel, Danielle. She's a lovely lady. How often do you get to see the GM of a hotel? Not often. I was lucky to be able to interact with her face-to-face. I mentioned to her about the printer and she offered me a USB, so I could use and have them printed for me. It made my day! I picked up the USB from Carolyn at the front desk and was able to save some files and have them printed by John. On our last day there when we left for breakfast and came back to the room, we noticed the ceiling duct fell down on the floor and quickly called the front desk to send a maintenance guy to fix it. He fixed it! I didn’t mention this to the GM but that ceiling duct could have hurt me or Hubby. I think the first experience at this hotel left a great impression because they would go the extra mile for me. We talked about coming back to stay here when our trip brings us back to Delaware. We got a nice suite room for a good price. The bed was comfortable, the room had a good fridge and a nice size of safety deposit box. Btw, the buffet breakfast was a must-have! They got bagels and lox! Woohoo! Thanks to Danielle and her team for making our stay a nice one! Hope to see the new looks of the hotel one day.…
Hotel is under construction and the construction is around the clock. Dinner meal portions are for children. This hotel is also in the middle of nowhere. Much better options around. I recommend courtyard or holiday inn.
Twice, I stayed in December with temperature issues. Couldn’t control the heat. Too hot both times without resolution when I called the overnight front desk. They said there was nothing they could do. They are currently in renovations but why does this affect the temperature control? So miserable sweating all night.
