Don't come here if you are colorblind. You will not be able to appreciate the kalaidescopian use of color throughout the House from the entrance to the eclectic, Key-Westian rooms. Don't come here if you don't like funky and kitschy. You won't be able to appreciate the wondrous spectrum of objects that Rick has managed to amass for his guests' delight and, no, the brass elephant off the entrance doesn't have any political significance. Don't come here if you're a totally stressed executive on a schedule who can't get his/her face out of a smartphone or laptop. You will not be able to appreciate the wonderfully laid-back atmosphere of Lewes, DE and all that surrounds it. Don't come here if you're not an animal lover. You will not be able to appreciate the fellowship of Rick's two canines who keep you always under loving watch, so loving in fact that I think Remy fell in love with my girl, Natasha. DO come here if you want to spend a few days in an atmosphere which will truly rejuvenate, reanimate, refresh, and remake you.

My daughter and I stayed at this quaint B&B last weekend. Everything about the house was funky and welcoming, and we felt at home immediately. The oil spill in the Delaware Bay prevented us from getting onto the beach just a couple of blocks from the house, but we walked into town, did some shopping, enjoyed a nice dinner at the 2nd Street Tavern, and were able to see the beach the next day on our bike ride to Cape Henlopen, which is easy to get to. The bikes provided are a very nice perk, and it was great being so close to the bike trail. We enjoyed the cold water and snacks that were out daily, as well as breakfast every morning. Our room was adorable, and the outdoor space and porch swing were a bonus. The only thing I should mention is that mask-wearing wasn't enforced here. This didn't bother us since we aren't in a high risk population for COVID and the house was exceptionally clean, but anyone being really careful during the pandemic would want to be aware of this. We didn't have a chance to meet Rick since he was traveling, but Tony and his son were very accommodating, and the dogs very cute. (Don't touch Lola, but Remington is super friendly.) All in all, this was a wonderful stay. We look forward to returning on a future trip to Lewes.

The Blue Water House was a total treat - fun and relaxing and practically all ours in weekday October - lucky us! Colorful art pieces start in the parking lot and populate the entire B&B with an eclectic Key West sort of vibe. Our room was spacious and comfortable with a flat screen TV, wifi, and a mini-fridge included. We also happened to get one of the rooms with a balcony and a porch swing. The beach is only a short walk away. Things are likely much more crowded in the summer months, but even then, The Blue Water House is in a quieter residential area, perfect for those who want to be near lots of interesting things to see and do, without being right on top of them. And thanks to our hosts for an excellent breakfast. Many, many choices, all of them delicious! Our hosts could not have been kinder or more agreeable. They are also animal lovers and are strong supporters of Faithful Friends Animal Society, a no-kill shelter and animal advocacy group. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Blue Water House and look forward to our next visit.

We stayed in one of the corner rooms with a balcony with a nice view of the neighborhood. Rick and Tony were readily available anytime of the day that we were at the inn. Laid back atmosphere and great facilities. Short walk to beach and restaurants.

I loved it! Each of the 11 rooms are different, but seem to keep the same "tropical vibe" theme. My room was quite large and had a refrigerator, good for keeping cold drinks. The shower head lights up blue when the water is flowing. They have beach cruiser bikes available for no charge, I found an old Fuji hybrid also available. 10 minute walk to Second Street. Rick, the owner, and Tony,, the manager,, are helpful and gregarious. If you prefer bland, it might not be your place, if you, like me, prefer something different that is also a nice place to relax, you will love it.
