The Hotel Rodney is a boutique style hotel fashioned after classic New York style hotels. The hotel has its home in the heart of historic Lewes, Delaware, which is known for being the first town in the first state. The hotel is located in a building built in 1926, on the Historical Registry, on property originally owned by members of the historically famous Rodney family. At the Hotel Rodney the staff and management strive to meet all of our guests needs and offer a gym and business center as well as 24 hour front desk service.

The tiny beach town of Louis has now become a huge retirement community and pretty vacation beach resort oriented without vacation beach resort facilities. The Hotel Rodney is in a historic building, across the street from the historic Episcopal church, and pretty much right in the center of town for anything you want to eat or drink or see. Free parking and only a short drive to the beach. The rooms, at least ours which was 207, are quite cozy for the price. You could just walk around the queen size bed and the bathroom had a nice shower but was equally snug. The staff is very sweet but it is pretty much the only game in the center of town. There is a pub on the ground floor

Great location in center of town. Very nice up-to-date room. Has a small elevator that only holds 3 adults and is slow but it works fine. Staff was all very friendly and helpful. Has only 6 designated parking spaces on adjoining bank lot. The wall mounted HVAC unit is very quiet and works well but the remote control for it is very complicated so get instructions from desk.

The hotel and the room we stayed in was a 8 out of 10. Very cute, perfect mix of old and modern, ac was wonderful, awesome HUGE couples tub and shower, very comfortable bed. The PARKING is a 1 out of 10. After a long drive to get the hotel, my gf and I had to spend an extra 30min looking for parking. the hotel provides at most 8-9 parking spots total. TOTAL. that’s ridiculous and unacceptable for the price of the room and quite frankly for ANY hotel. Yes there was an art show in town the weekend of our stay but that is irrelevant. there should be dedicated spots for everyone in the hotel. Its an issue of public safety just as much as convenience. After about 30min of driving around annoyed and exhausted, you’ll probably find a metered spot to park, but do not be a minute late paying the meter because the meter dick will be there waiting to give you a ticket. Def will not let it ruin the overall experience, but you do not want to have to deal with this stress on a relaxing vacation.

Thank you for your review. I am glad to hear that overall, you liked the Hotel Rodney. You found it cute, comfortable and well appointed. Our staff takes great pride! I am sorry to hear that the parking caused such frustration! Many streets were closed to traffic and the parking lot that we share with M&T Bank was partially closed for the St. Peters Art Festival. This truly was a hardship for all Lewes visitors over July 4th weekend. I will pass on your concerns to the city of Lewes and the St. Peters church for there consideration. I am so glad that you did not let this ruin your overall experience!! Have a wonderful summer:)

Hotel Rodney has an ideal location if you want to be in town, next to it all, and near the beach. To me, that was its best feature. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room(s) are quite small as I was staying with others who, also, all had small rooms. Worse, they lacked a desk (though there was room for a small one in my room) so if you plan on using your laptop, etc., you'll have to figure that out. My room had an odor that reminded me of new shellac, but stronger. After staying in the room you don't notice it though. The hotel has a policy that precludes bringing your bicycle into the room. Important for cyclists who prefer otherwise, like me for instance. The elevator is a "lift" which means that it can only hold the weight of 3 people (or so the sign in the lift stated). It's so slow to move that I used the stairs most of the time. Good for us people in reasonable shape, not good for the very old and infirm. Along that line, even using the lift was a pain in that you first have to open the outer door and then have to forcefully slid open the secondary door, making sure to close the secondary or else the lift does not respond to button presses to go to a different floor. If someone doesn't close the inner door (and that happened) you wouldn't realize this until you've spent awhile wondering what happened. No microwave but the refrigerator was amply sized. The window shades do not completely block the outdoor light. So, light sleepers beware. For our experience, the maid forgot to renew the toilet paper and we had to call up for it (!). There is parking in the rear but I'd consider that area a security risk during the night (I had to keep my $3,500 bicycle inside my van and, though locked very well there, decided to move the van to the lit street during the night, in front of the hotel. I also had to move it back to the rear parking after 9am since it's only allowed to park there for 3 hours. Next time, I'm going elsewhere.

This hotel is a gem and well worth the money. It is located in the heart of town so you can park your car in their free lot and walk to everything. The staff is very friendly and extremely accommodating. They will go out of their way to make you feel special. The room was immaculate. A great place for fun and pampering.
