My husband and I stayed here for a few nights during our anniversary weekend (there was even complimentary champagne in our room.. Not sure if that is standard of if it's because my husband told them it was our anniversary) . The hotel was very well decorated and and comfortable. The hotel was within short walking distance to everything . Front desk staff were very nice and helpful.
Let me start off by saying… I made a mistake booking this hotel in that I did not realize children were not permitted. I actually called the day before arrival (about 30 hrs prior to arrival) with questions about the room because I was going to have my son with me. That’s when I found out. The website calls it an adult getaway on the main page but doesn’t say children aren’t permitted (I have never heard of this before). I think my exact comment to the manager was “oh s*it, what do I do?”. The manager told me that booking through Expedia isn’t the best and if I would have called it would have been made clear. I did not read my confirmation where it is clearly stated (as I found out later). I would have even paid a penalty of hundreds of dollars if I needed to cancel our trip. The manager told me it would cost $200 extra for my son to stay. So, I decided to pay the extra money and stay. However, I was nervous about how we would be treated. Upon arrival, nothing was said about my son in the lobby and I said to the women working, “I must not be the only one who makes this mistake”… and she said “oh no, not at all” so that made me feel a little at ease. Our third day (after the second night) at about 1:30 pm, my son cried loudly (he’s 2 by the way). It took us about 5 minutes to calm him down. We started getting ready for the night when we heard a knock at the door around 2:30 pm. The woman working told us she had a complaint about “the baby”. We said we were sorry, but what can we do? She then said “you are going to have to leave”. This was the first time anyone had said anything to us about my son. It was definitely the first time he had cried in the room. I also wasn’t told that if he cried we would be asked to leave. We were angry and nervous. We drove 3.5 hours to have this mom/daughter/grandson trip. I said I wanted to talk with the manager. Then, the woman at the desk came up and said “Well, we don’t want to leave you stranded, so we can put you in a studio room downstairs”. Our room was the reason why I booked the place because it had a closed off room so my boy could nap and sleep while we were up. So, we had to move midday and to a lesser room for no money back, even though I paid an extra $200 and was given no warning that this is how our stay would be. Also the air conditioning didn’t work in the room and it was in the 90’s. I asked them both if he cried again would we be kicked out, and Donna (manager) said yes if there is a complaint. I said I would gladly leave the hotel if I could get reimbursed the two nights we had left because we felt extremely uncomfortable at this point and were incredibly disappointed in how this was handled. I was told I would be given no money back if I left. So we were stuck. The rest of the trip I was paranoid for my son to cry, laugh, be silly, be seen…. What a place this is. They completely ruined our $1500 4 night vacation. This hotel management made us feel so uncomfortable and unwelcome. Also, I know they claim cleanliness but both bathrooms had pubic hairs on the floors, carpets were stained, balconies need repair, and both refrigerators were broken (in both rooms). After our stay, I’ve read other reviews that say management only cares about money and not customer satisfaction and that seems 100% true. I hope In the future the hotel team can treat all of their guests with respect.…
I booked this place based on the reviews and it did not disappoint. The lobby is cute, quaint and well decorated. The check-in process was seamless. Our room, believed to be one of the smaller rooms, was still very large. The room smelled good and was very clean. Much cleaner than many of the chain hotels I've stayed at in the past. During our stay, I had a few requests which staff easily and quickly accommodated. The best part of this hotel is it's location to town. Just a short, scenic walk across the drawbridge and you're right in the heart of town and have access to many shops and restaurants. My first visit to Lewes was a memorable one. Thanks again Hotel Blue :)
Our first stay at Hotel Blue. We loved everything about the hotel. Its location is terrific for walking into town or walking to the beach. Our room, 303 was one of the best we've ever stayed in. Large space, high ceilings, nicely decorated. The lobby has a high-end coffee maker. The staff is all friendly and helpful.
This is by far one of the best places we have stayed in. First impression was great and it just got better as we settled into our suite. The rooms were beautifully decorated, spacious, and most important to me was how clean everything was. We had an issue with the AC, my husband reported to Diane at the front desk and she came immediately to check it, she called a repairman and it was taken care of promptly, Diane even came to check and make sure the room was cool before she went home for the day. We tried to extend our time there but they were completely booked. Everything is within walking distance and it was fun to watch the boats come and go in the canal. Our new favorite place to stay! Outstanding staff!!
If you're looking for a place to stay in Lewes I would look no further! Staying here was such a great, tranquil place for me and my boyfriend to soak up the sun. It has the upscale hotel touches you'd want but with a family-owned charm-- best of both worlds! Room was gorgeous and everyone could not have been more friendly and accomodating! Highly recommend as I have no negatives from our stay here. They even went above and beyond to provide champagne and glasses for us upon our arrival!
Great location... just a few minutes' walk from tons of great little shops and restaurants. The rooms are large and *beautiful* and perfectly clean; the fantastic staff knows each room individually and will recommend the best one for your needs. The bathrooms are large, with unique lighting under the translucent sinks that made perfect "nightlights". We appreciated the separate "water closet". Sadly, the bed was the hardest piece of furniture in the room... the wife ended up on the couch. The wifi was slow when I could connect at all... my phone seems ok with it, but it refused to talk to my notebook at all. The few electrical outlets are mostly already in use; I unplugged the clock so I could charge my phone.
Such a cute hotel, super clean, great location, friendly staff, large suites, amazing views, close to beach and some amazing restaurants. While we booked through a third party next time we will contact the hotel directly and plan with the hotel directly. Highly recommend especially for a couples getaway. We will be back soon
The A/C was broken, and staff was rude and uncaring. The staff seemed upset they they had to address our problem. They never said they were sorry we got a bad room. They wanted us to just accept it and leave them alone. The coffee area was also not clean, so we had to avoid it. Total disappointment all around. All the good restaurants are on the other side of the bridge. Will not be back here. We will stay across the river next time.
Love the area, and my husband I go to Lewes several times a year. However, we have stayed on several occasions, but the mattresses need to be replaced. They do not have any support. This is a disappointment. Otherwise, the facility and the people working here are pleasant. The price is fair but not reasonable when you do not get a good night sleep. We attended in 2019 and in 2020. Apologize for the March 2021 but, the date wanted was not allowed.
