Clean hotel with friendly service. I have stayed here twice and both times had a good experience. Close to restaurants, shopping, and short drive to Cape Henlopen. Due to COVID they no longer have a full breakfast but they do have breakfast items available. Linens are replenished each day outside your room, along with trash removal, and any toiletries needed. Will definitely return.

When I write a review, I take it seriously. I understand people are depending on my thoughts as their hard-earned money is at stake. I travel all over the world and I am not saying that to be arrogant. I know what is important regarding a hotel stay. The hotel needs to clean, in a safe environment, and have a hot water. Everything else is secondary. After a long drive, or flight, we want a quick check in so we may go about our business. A hotel has all our information prior to check-in so the process should be quick and painless. It was not the case when we checked in to the Sleep Inn. I greatly dislike “signing this and initialing that” upon check in. It is as though I need my lawyer present. I signed some kind of a “mask form” followed by some kind of “smoking form”. Aren’t masks required by law in public areas? About the only thing I hate, and I mean really hate, at check-in is when the Desk Rep wastes my time telling me about a “safe charge”. Let me make this clear, I am not paying for using the safe. I am also not paying for using the toilet. Anyone who allows this hotel, or any hotel, to get away with such a ridiculous charge deserves to be charged to use the toilet in the future. This is a tremendous waste of my time. There needs to be a safe in the room, period. Now I had to waste even more time stopping at the Desk in the morning to remove the ridiculous charge. Okay now that I got that out of my system, let’s move on. To my surprise the hotel is showing its age. The lobby is relatively inviting. The room, on the other hand, had office “carpet squares”. Since this is the first thing a guest sees when they open the door it should be the first thing this hotel should replace. Wood-type flooring in hotels is the norm. It looks cleaner, feels cleaner, and is cleaner. I am not a TV watcher, especially with all the great things to do in this town. However, the TV was a generous size with a very easy to navigate guide. However, a note by the TV informing the guest which station the guide can be found on would be greatly appreciated. The room has a nice little work area with a comfortable chair for anyone who needs to spend some time on their computer. Wi-Fi worked well for the entire stay which was appreciated. The room needs a second chair and second luggage stand. The shower is another story in itself. It’s sort of a cross between a cruise and space station shower, lol. It was clean with plenty of room. Another shelf of sorts inside the shower is needed for sundries. Figuring out how to turn on the water was cool game. Speaking of cool, one of the reasons I gave this property such a low score was on the morning we checked out there was no hot water. Since this is one of my three most important features, I certainly cannot recommend this facility to you based on that alone. Not getting a shower put a damper on my day to say the least. Looking back, I should have asked for at least a 50%, if not total, refund as running out of hot water is simply inexcusable. Some of the towels need to be replaced as they are looking rough. The ice machine was not working and again, there was no sign as to where I might find another one. After searching I did find it on the next floor up. However again, let’s get it fixed. The bed seemed comfortable to me with lots of different pillows. No problems there. Before I forget, I want to mention the staff was extremely friendly. Every interaction with the co-workers at this property was stellar. Thank you for being so kind! Exterior walls must be thin as we had a group of people talking for hours outside in the parking area. We were on the second floor, but the noise kept us up. Hopefully this will not happen to you. I just can’t believe how some people think they are the only ones in the world. Who stands outside hotel windows later at night and talks loudly for hours without thinking it may disturb someone? The in-room mini fridge and microwave are always a nice touch. A fair and normal cancellation policy usually is by a certain time on the day of arrival. This cancellation policy is the day before. Another big negative in my book. We work too hard for our money to take this risk. The exterior parking was a little rough with cans, paper, and debris. But in all fairness that could have been caused by one careless person. The hotel has a “grab and go breakfast” however people were helping themselves and eating in the sitting area which is fine by me. Hopefully anyone traveling has had their “second shot”. There was one microwave, and it was not cooking at full strength. Two commercial microwaves, at the minimum, are needed. There was yogurt, bananas, an egg style taco, and breakfast sandwiches. There were 1,000 blueberry muffins because let’s face it, who likes blueberry muffins? All and all, the breakfast was okay. In conclusion we paid well over $100 for this room. Based on on experience, the fact there was no hot water, and the building showing its age, we paid twice what it was worth. I am sorry to convey, with the abundance of properties in the area, I would look elsewhere for accommodations.

I have had positive experiences staying at the Sleep Inn, Lewes, Delaware--nothing special but adequate. Unfortunately, I cannot count my stay there for two nights February 11-13, 2021, among those positive experiences. Instead, I found common sense consistently missing in action. The morning of Friday, February 12, brought to Lewes subzero temperatures and icy conditions. Endeavoring nevertheless to get my essential morning workout, I visited the hotel's fitness center only to find its lights dark and door locked without explanation. An employee who happened by explained that the fitness center was being renovated with "no idea" when it might reopen. Why in the middle of winter does it make any sense to close an indoor fitness center indefinitely? Anyone using common sense would decide to renovate during summer months, when guests can exercise outdoors. And why was the fitness center closed indefinitely? Lack of common sense again manifested itself as I prepared to check out of the hotel. The property imposes a check out time of 11:00 AM, which also makes no sense on a holiday weekend with only a handful of guests occupying the property. To add insult to injury, in the middle of my trying to vacate my room by 11:00 AM, its door lock stopped responding to my key card. I had to visit the hotel's front desk and beg it to reactivate my key card solely so I could enter the room one final time to finish removing my belongings. The front desk explained that the computer automatically cuts off key cards at 11:00 AM. However, my key card was disabled many minutes before 11:00 AM. Failing to trust guests to check out by the mandated time also lacks common sense. Upon eventually checking out, I intended to share my concerns with the hotel’s staff, two of whom were then working the front desk. Unfortunately, neither of them bothered to ask me whether I had enjoyed my stay or had any comments. Once again, common sense was nowhere evident.

We stayed here for a quick one night getaway. I wasn’t sure about the 2 star rating and honestly would not give it only two stars. Check in was easy. Had to sign a COVID 19 paper no biggy. Room was on 3rd floor. We booked the king room and actually got a king room with a sofa so it was considered a suite which was a nice surprise. The room was clean, bed comfy, nice spacious walk-in shower. Only issue the shower door looked like it had a stopper on it but was broke off so the door would not latch had to use a towel to make it stick. Reported this to front desk. Breakfast was grab and go because of COVID. Overall I would stay here again and would give it 3.5 stars.

Front desk gentleman that checked us in was super friendly. I am very picky about cleanliness and this hotel was definitely clean. It's apparent they took extra safety precautions against COVID-19. The housekeeper Nancy was so outgoing and always said hello when we saw her in the hallway. Shout out to her!!
