Perfect weekend getaway! Beautifully restored home with all the right touches. Jim & Ruth have been running the B & B for 20 years and guests benefit from their experience. They were extremely kind and accommodating when we had to adjust our travel plans which we really appreciated. Wine & cheese at happy hour, port and chocolates before bed and an amazing breakfast- mimosas, pears, plums with a port reduction, blueberry and açaí sorbet and grand mariner French toast with bacon. They even notate your breakfast so if you return, they make sure to give you something different. Super comfortable bedroom and bed linens, robes, mini fridge and good location right in town.

We spent another wonderful weekend at the John Penrose Virden House this Fall. Just as it was during our previous Fall visit, we were pampered with sumptuous, multi-course breakfast meals in an intimate setting, unexpected treats upon arrival and in the evenings, and with the cozy, quiet comfort of the York Cottage. York Cottage is spacious, yet cozy, and has everything you need for a comfortable, relaxing weekend away from it all. Owners, Jim and Ruth, are quick to share their knowledge of Lewes and the surrounding area - including insider tips for many of the fabulous local eateries, they are superbly friendly and the perfect hosts! We are already looking forward to our next visit!

We stayed in the Harborview Room in the Virden House, a beautifully decorated room with a wonderful view on the third floor of this quiet, peaceful B&B. Our breakfasts were superb, and innkeepers Ruth and Jim Edwards made us feel so welcome once again! We would recommend, without hesitation, a stay at the Virden House any time of year!
