Stayed 3 days last week in room 309. Check in was seamless thanks to Megan at front desk. Big room with great side view of beach. As stated in previous reviews parking was tight/stairs were no joke. If you had to retrieve anything from car. Fuhgettabout it. Did not use very small pool due to rampaging screaming children every day. Families hung their towels blankets etc on railings despite signage on room door. Tacky. Not the fault of SCO but wish I had known a few things abt Dewey: firstly dogs are allowed on the beach in the morning and evening and they used it as their toilet. One morning I looked out the window and saw a huge rottweiler drop a giant deuce right on my regular path to the beach. Disgusting and unhealthy. Later that night heard on local news that beach at Dagsworthy, only 2blocks from Read Ave, was closed due to bacteria. One of the likely culprits? Dog waste runoff. No warning from anyone, including DBP. Anything I guess to keep the tourist $ coming. Shoreline was rocky with shells;tore up my feet.Water quality average with STEEP dropoff steps in. Lots of jellyfish. Using the parking app was a pain in the arse. Got in town early and had to pay $8.25 for 3 hours! Can't wait for my yearly week in OCMD in 3 weeks where the beach is perfect at 24th st with plenty of FREE parking! One and done with Dewey.…
We stayed here for a few days at the end of May. The location is perfect. Sure there is no elevator but you know that prior to booking. The king room with Oceanview was perfect. It had a fridge, microwave, coffee maker and cook top. We stopped at the grocery store to pick up a few things. We had breakfast with a beautiful view and could hear the ocean. We were steps away from the beach; which we enjoyed even though it was a little cool. We drove into town to have dinner at Cilantro's. (Amazing!) We would definitely stay here again!
Just got done staying here and highly recommend! One of the few ocean front properties, nice sized rooms, perfect location and super clean! Wasn’t an overly crowded spot and the pool was perfect for our kids. If your are looking for a family friendly place with great staff look no further! (Only warning, no elevator but it’s only 3 floors and they have a dumbwaiter to use) WE WILL BE BACK!
the reception desk is about the size of a phone booth. there is no elevator. had to walk three flights of stairs. i think the furniture was purchased at a thrift store. no balcony to sit and enjoy the ocean view. the water in the pool was green and the bottom had not been painted in way too long. I would not stay there if they offered me a free room.
Great location. Room was nicely furnished and had great view of ocean. Everything you needed was included . Handy dumbwaiter was big help taking luggage up to our floor. Easy walking to restaurants. Will be back .
I don't write reviews unless somebody deserves one. It is SO rare. My wife and I have been coming to the Surf Club for years. We've been working with Corinne there every time, and we have ALWAYS had a wonderful stay. We always get the same type room. I'm not telling you which because I don't need the competition lol. Tracy is the new front desk manager. I had never met her until this weekend. It turns out, the A/C unit in the room we requested and secured a month in advance had gone kaput. This was easily verifiable by the HVAC guys working on that specific heat/air unit in the parking lot. Anyway...my wife and I were highly disappointed. We only get 2 trips to the beach without the kids every year. I can be a miserable SOB...strike that...I AM a miserable SOB...when somebody throws a monkey wrench into plans I've been dreaming about for a month. Tracy read the situation like a true professional, and got us a fine room and made us feel like the repeat guests we are. Our stay was wonderful. I'll always miss Corinne, but I understand she is moving up in the company. Deservedly so. But Surf Club has made another fine decision in making Tracy a front desk manager and problem solver. I solve people problems as my career. For the last 25 years. I have to say, Tracy has got customer service game. I could have gone full Karen. But I didn't have to. If you don't know what it's like to give people bad news that you can't control, then kudos to you. But for those of us who live that experience, we know customer service. Tracy is a pro's pro. And Surf Club is gonna stay our place for years to come. Also, it's an awesome hotel and you'll be hard pressed to find a place on the BEACH nicer than this one. But you do you.…
The room was great. Awesome view of the ocean. Can't beat the location & the price very reasonable. Within easy walking distance of town & restaurants. Of course being oceanfront allowed us to sleep with window open & relax & to the sound of the ocean, AWESOME!! One negative; very narrow staircases, but they do have a dumbwaiter for luggage
The location and ease of no contact checking in make this a great place to stay. The price is also very reasonable and you can just roll out of bed and roll to the beach. The oceanfront rooms have a fantastic view and so do the other rooms. It's not fancy but its clean and very comfortable. Love this place!
So I flew in from Vegas for my birthday at this place. IT was all just amazing. I got the ocean front room I loved every second of it. From watching the stars at night to opening the window and hearing the waves it was just all so fantastic. Check in was easy.. The luggage elevator made that a snap. I enjoyed my trip to Delaware. It made me wish my birthday was not in November but I loved it all. The front desk staff was amazing. And happy birthday to the girl who has the same birthday as me. LOL
The beach facing corner room had a spectacular panoramic view overlooking the sea grass covered dunes to the beach and breaking waves of the ocean. Staying over a late October weekend we had wonderful weather with one sunny day in the low 70F and a day of cloudy mid 60F. Fun on the beach enhanced by the free your dog policy of Dewey Beach. So many friendly hounds and respectful owners to share the beach. Just a short stroll with coffee in hand to enjoy the sunrise. Most establishments still in operation to optimize enjoyment. Clean, comfortable room provided with well equipped kitchenette. Helpful, friendly staff to enhance the stay and provide support to any available entertainments.
