Mamboz Beach Cabanas are in a perfect location on the beach which enabled us to relax and blissfully unwind after a two week tour of Sri Lanka. Matthew and team were very welcoming and made our stay really enjoyable. Matthew is a convivial host and great company. Locally caught fish from the day's catch was superbly cooked. Appu and Nuann made a great culinary team producing a wide variety of delicious meals. Mamboz is beautifully laid out and extremely well appointed with wonderful artistic touches. We enjoyed the beach walks and helping the locals haul in their daily fish catch was great fun. We would love to return and would have no hesitation in recommending Mamboz Cabanas as a place to unwind.

This place is so special that I am almost reluctant to post a review in case we can’t get in ourselves next time. Right on the beach with beautiful views, the cabanas are simple but very comfortable. The food served at a communal table is delicious - mainly Sri Lankan and we rarely had the same dish twice. One night there was even homemade pizza with fresh basil. But best of all is the owner Matthew Gale whose warm, funny and charming personality sets the tone for Mamboz. Do try his Thai massage.

Beautiful, wide and long, the beach was all for us, with coconut trees and pandanus in the adjoining sand dunes. The ocean was welcoming, calm and clear. Mamboz is made of a house with few cottages in a sandy garden, placed between the ocean and the lagoon. Is basic and well appointed at the same time. Is very natural, with shade and breeze, and no sound or light pollution. In the night the light of the fisherman’s boats are visible all along the horizon. The staff is friendly and discreet, the cuisine is Srilankan, Japanese and Italian. Natural ingredients and tasty dishes. The wood fire oven pizza is delicious. The host is very attentive and will do everything to make you fill comfortable. Definitely a good place to relax and enjoy the nature.
