We had a lovely time at the Inn at Mt Pleasant. It is a charming restored farmhouse close to the lovely Litchfield and set in picturesque fields. Our trip was in late fall so the trees were exploding with colour. Our hosts Maggie and Bob were friendly and welcoming and appeared genuinely happy to have us in their home. The accommodation was very clean, comfortable and homely. We travelled with a small boy who loved running around in the paddock and playing in the leaves and the barn. I thoroughly recommend The Inn at Mt Pleasant. It was a wonderful way to start our New England driving holiday.
When you do something with love, it affects all who come in contact with it. Bob and Maggie love, and are proud of, their little bnb in the bucolic hills above Torrington. I have stayed there at least three times--to attend a high school reunion and then a family wedding, and most recently, to visit friends in nearby Cornwall, and now it feels as if it is my home away from home. You look out from your comfortable room at rolling green fields dotted with bluebird boxes, their colorful occupants darting in and out. There's a big red barn, once the home of diary cows, that has been restored and outfitted to host private events such as weddings. Guest rooms are comfortable and quiet, with spacious bathrooms. There are muffins, coffee cake, toast, coffee, juice, and fruit for breakfast in the big open kitchen. Bob and Maggie are friendly and welcoming, but not intrusive. Bob loves to tell guests about the origins of the farm and barn and the work he has done to it to make it an appealing inn and wedding destination. The Inn at Mt. Pleasant is a treasure.…
The night I spent at The Mount Pleasant Inn was quite enjoyable. The hosts Bob and Maggie were great people to be around. The view was spectacular along with the rolling hills and the light snow it was a breathtaking sight. I woukd recommend this stay to anyone looking for a quaint countryside inn with all the modern amenities you could think of.
This was my second stay at the inn, to attend a nearby wedding; it was so nice to be back. Maggie and Bob are ideal hosts, the rooms are comfortable, with spacious private bathrooms, the continental breakfast is just right, and the setting is beautiful, with rolling fields, bird houses, and a historic red barn that is a great spot for a country wedding. In an area where there are few lodging options, this is a real find.
If you have no reason to go to Torrington now you do. And if you have a reason to be in the area or are looking for a venue for a celebration look here. The expansive vistas across meadows and hills revive tired eyes and souls. The interior is beautifully appointed, with good design; super clean and clutter free. And the hosts are lovely, non obtrusive but very available. We loved this place!
