Detailed Reviews
Maggie and Bob are excellent host and the property is very quiet and secluded. We stayed for four nights and felt very comfortable. The entire home was updated and the bedrooms and bathrooms were very clean. You can tell that the owners take great pride in maintaining their home and property. They make you feel as if you are family and are very gracious host. They have great stories to tell and are very kind. We will definitely return back to stay. Thank you Maggie and Bob!

We needed a place to stay for a wedding nearby.
Maggie and Bob were wonderful. Maggie reached out to me to make early arrival arrangements and was incredibly accommodating. My friend and I only wish that we could’ve stayed longer. The house was incredible and the property was beautiful. Excellent experience and highly recommend.
Thank you, Maggie!

I found this property mainly advertised for a great wedding venue. While its true, they surely deserve to be recognize for the excellent Bed&Breakfast that we decided to stay in for 1 night while exploring local. The property is a hidden gem in a very quiet and peaceful property. Maggie and Bob were excellent hosts to our entire family. My kids definitely want to come back and they mentioned it was like visiting relatives. As soon as we arrive, we got a tour of the farm, Bob played basketball with my son and later got a firepit ready to enjoy. Maggie accompany us for a little at night while encouraging the kids to find star constellations in a starry night. Our room very comfortable and clean. The owners are just such pleasant people and make you feel as if you are visiting family. We will definitely return!.

Beautiful historic B&B with some of the best views we've ever seen. Well kept, very clean and relaxing rooms, some with a view of the entire property. The owners are extremely hospitable, you feel at home the moment you walk in. The venue space is also beautiful, it's obvious why this place is one of the top wedding locations in the area. Definitely recommend and we will be back to stay soon.

This place was fabulous! Maggie and Bob were so welcoming and warm! Our room was the John Brown room. Very comfy bed, pleasant nights sleep. We had a continental breakfast in the morning which was great and just enough. We had lovely conversation with Bob while Maggie had to go out. He even gave us his book he wrote about the process of renovating this antique home, which he signed. We had gone to a concert at the Warner Theatre so booked this place as it looked great and there aren't many hotels in the area. We are very happy we did and would revisit them again when we go to the theatre. We toured their Barn and viewed their beautiful property. Very quiet. Next time I think I would book the larger room even!!
Thank you again Maggie and Bob!

What a gem this is. The setting is absolutely beautiful, peaceful and quiet. Maggie and Bob are the best hosts. The rooms are comfortable, clean and nicely appointed. Wi-Fi and tv in all rooms. Breakfast on the porch overlooking acres of countryside is a highlight. Great property for a family get-together. While in the country, it is an easy and short drive to both Litchfield and Torrington.

The innkeepers are very friendly and the location is lovely. The rather expensive room I stayed in was comfortable but not attractive. Breakfast was a real disappointment, similar to what you'd get at Comfort Inn and with no homemade items. This was much less than I expected since the Inn has such glowing reviews.

I have had 2 previous experiences at Bed & Breadfasts which were both pleasant. I am learning that each B & B has its own unique atmosphere and can be suited to various individuals according to specific needs and preferences.
This Inn was exactly what my daughter and I needed at this point in time. Our second floor room overlooked two beautiful green rolling fields. We walked through these to the entrance of a clearly marked trail which led to a lovely creek in an old untouched forest. I felt transported back to another era.
Bob and Maggie's B & B is located on a quiet side road off a busy road not more than ten minutes from bustling downtown Torrington. They are both gracious hosts who take genuine interest in their guests. I was inspired by Bob's descriptions of his transformation of this previous old farm house to its current use and am grateful for his and Maggie's respect for this property.
It was very freeing to have use of the modern and spacious combined dining and kitchen area at any time, to enjoy a quiet diner with my daughter on the porch facing those two fields and watch the changing hues in the early sunset sky.
Our stay was only two days but has special memories to sustain us.

A friend and I were planning to stay for 3 nights. The room was fine. When we went down for breakfast, the host was holding forth in front of the coffee pot and did not offer to have us sit down or offer us anything. He was very impressed with himself, the inn and the location. Two other guests were listening to him talk about his contribution to the Torrington community. Because "breakfast" consisted of boxed cereal, we decided to skip this meal.
The most disturbing thing about our stay was that the innkeeper had agreed to lower the room rate for a 3 day stay. When we asked for confirmation, he said that he was very casual and that we could give him cash or a check when we checked in. He was not there when we arrived so we planned to give him a check for the negotiated rate at "breakfast". He gave my friend his bill which was $90 over the negotiated rate. We gave him another check and then later checked our notes that confirmed the lower amount. When we questioned the difference he said that he made a mistake and showed us his ledger with the original amount on the right side and the negotiated amount on the left. We would have thought that this was an honest mistake if he had checked when we questioned the amount in the first place, but this was not the case. Another guest was also upset because he was charged more than expected. He was told his rate was higher because he was in a better room than originally planned. From now on we will insist on written confirmation of the rate in advance.

Response from rabomber, Owner at The Inn At Mount Pleasant Farm
Responded Nov 20, 2012
UNDERSTAND THE RAVE REVIEWS! I was very surprised to see the last review “Don’t understand the rave reviews” which was dated November 5, 2012. The number one goal at The Inn at Mount Pleasant is to provide a relaxed, comfortable, exclusive environment for all travelers from around the world. You will see in past reviews that I expect the guests to treat this beautiful farmhouse and property as their own home while they are here. Conversations with guests occur quite frequently about the history of the farm and the farmhouse and it is my pleasures to share information with them. New friendships are created in this process. Although the comments in her review were personally insulting to me, I realized that this guest was probably unaware of what to expect from a bed and breakfast experience. To clarify, the continental breakfast that day consisted of juices, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, English muffins, toast, yogurt, seasonal fruit, and various cereals. These items are put out in the morning so the guests can help themselves on their own schedule. It is not “served” as in a restaurant. Also, there was no “mistake” in the room rate. This guest was just unhappy that she was expected to pay the room tax. The first two nights were $180 per night and the third night was discounted to $90. Upon their arrival I upgraded them to a more expensive suite at no extra charge. The next morning they gave me a check for $450. I told them that there is an additional amount which was the 15% CT room tax. A second check was written for that tax, A short time later they said that wanted to leave (no reason was given) and I returned the two checks. They paid for the one night with a new check for $150 without the 15% room tax. Aside from giving them the room at a great rate, I did not keep any of their money as a forfeited deposit even though they cancelled the other two weekend nights at the last minute. I do not know of any other B&B that would do that. This guest did not understand that it is not my decision to charge room tax-I have to pay it.

We stayed for 2 nights in September & were a bit concerned that there was no one home when we arrived ... but there was a note on door telling us to go right in & make ourselves comfortable until they returned. From then on it was just like home. Nothing was spared to make our visit memorable, lovely room, superb views, breakfast & hospitality was relaxed & perfect. Loved sitting out near the fire pit with Maggie & hearing all about them. Left my iPad in a Torrington bar & didn't miss it until back at the Inn, not to worry Maggie knows everybody, one phone call & it was retrieved! Bob & Maggie are delightful hosts with plenty of advice on places to visit. Its a very long way from Western Australia but if I could I would be back.
