Hotel's Favorite
Super-friendly and accommodating staff! Convenient location and easy access to downtown, I-95, train station, plus many restaurants are walking distance and there is a large walgreens across the street. Plenty of parking.
The room was very clean and large - included a small fridge, microwave, coffee maker and extra towels. The TV and microwave were new and internet worked great -- but the rest of the room was quite dated/worn -- feels like a 1990's roadside motel (I got a laugh at the vase of fake flowers sitting in fake-water that looked 20+ years old). However, it's very clean, everything worked fine.
Note there is some road and train noise all night -- it's very close to train station and I-95, many large trucks passing and occasional loud train horns. I was in room 501 which faces the highway and MetroNorth tracks -- I would ask for a room facing the other direction next time.
Given the price was a lot less than other properties nearby, I would stay here again for a quick night or two.

The Amsterdam Hotel is a great place to stay for the price and the location. Being that it was a 45-minute trip to NYC, it was perfect for us as we had tickets to the Mets game at Citi Field. Check-in was very easy, and kudos to the desk clerk who allowed us to check in a little early. The room was very spacious and clean. The air conditioning worked very well. However, the king-sized bed very hard, and there were only three thin pillows on the bed. The room could do with a bit of upgrading as the paint was chipping off the walls, and the rug was a bit threadbare. Also, one of the two elevators was out of service, and the one that worked was slow and old. There was a nice continental breakfast which we took advantage of. Coffee and food were very good. All in all, I would recommend the Amsterdam for a quick stay but not for a long stay.

Our handicap room was totally accessible, fairly clean, carpet was well worn. Good bathroom, full access. Bed was hard, A/C barely kept room cool. Breakfast was juice, bananas, apples, cereal, muffins, toast. Good value. Very nice friendly front desk.

The Amsterdam hotel proved to be even better than hoped for. The staff were always courteous and helpful. Douglas, the manager, is a very fine Engish gentleman, who in spite of being a long time resident of our great country, has somehow managed to retain his very charming "English" accent. The Amsterdam also offers many amenities included in the price and I must say that the corn muffin that I enjoyed at the free breakfat buffet is the best I have tasted since leaving Southern Alabama. Located in the heart of downtown Stamford, The Amsterdam can"t be beat for the price.
I travel frequently; but it is always gratifying to know that my next stay at this lovely hotel is only a laptop click away,....... and they do not even request an upfront depost or pre-payment.!!! I definately reccomend this hotel and give it a five star rating.

This hotel is very dated but pretty clean. The bed is hard as a rock. The neighborhood is sketchy and the train station is noisy. Continental breakfast was limited and Indian Male at checkout was rude. The only good was the location to what we were in town for (Mainly the Elm Street Diner)!

My husband and I stayed here 3 years ago and the manager actually remembered us (recalled an interesting conversation we shared from Jan. '19)!! We were given a very large room which had all the amenities we needed. It would've been good if the heat had been activated prior to our checking in as it took quite a long time to warm up. The room was clean and the beds comfortable. The front desk people (both at night and in the morning) were friendly, pleasant and helpful. We would be happy to return any time we need to be in Stamford!

Very simple hotel but has everything!
Starting from the friendly and helpful staff for any information or doubt up to the comfortable and spacious room.
Clean and with everything available from towels to toiletries.
The mattress was perhaps not the best a little old man but for one night is more than fine.
Breakfast in the morning included has only sweet but quite stocked. The plus was to find cereals packaged in single portions with hot milk and coffee, a simple breakfast to not get heavy which in America is not obvious!
Highly recommended!

Hotel was nicer than expected given the price. Ac worked. Beds ok. Carpets were pretty dirty. Fridge worked. Actually some good places to eat in walking distance. Not a huge walking area but plenty of parking. Breakfast was muffins, bagels, cereal but nothing cooked. Bit coffee was good! All in all I’d say doable for what it is. Staff was extremely friendly.

Last minute trip to Stamford, CT and while many colleagues stayed downtown, I saw this deal and grabbed it. And I would do it again... Rooms are clean, service is very professional; and breakfast included

Not deserving of the rating. Run down in many aspects and a horrific unhygienic find in the bathroom: used soap with hairs on it. Besides that, the resolve was far from pleasant. We needed to contact Mr. Gray who is director of Sls & Mktg and he started a cat & mouse game with us. Finally committed to provide full reimbursement. He never answered our emails and after 9 days and a few calls, a credit of 50% was received. Not according of what he said or committed. Highly disappointing and a place to avoid.

I regret that I cannot answer either question.
The Hotel was in the city, not on the water. I'm not sure how far it was from the beach. We didn't have a pet w/us but I'm sure if one gives a call to the front desk they will be very helpful.
