The place was average, dated, and needed some repairs here and there, but was a good price for a nights stay. We need to go to funeral. And we wanted to bring our dog. The place had some cobwebs, but I quickly got rid of those. Didn't see any spiders, but did see spider nest. Got rid of those too. Bed... More

The Amsterdam as noted by others is dated but it is clean. Our room was simple but comfortable - queen bed, table and chairs TV, wi-fi, coffee maker, fridge and microwave. All of the staff that we encountered were both friendly and helpful. A little background. We were going to Stamford for a long weekend (4 days/3 nights) and needed a... More

We found this hotel very convenient for our trips into NYC on the commuter train. It was clean, quiet, and reasonably priced. It included a basic breakfast which was all we needed. Yes, the decor is a bit dated but we didn't mind. I would highly recommend this hotel if you need to take day trips into NYC.

This old hotel has everything required for a day or week visit Good wifi, clean, good breakfast; old but spacious rooms; good bathrooms with all amenities required. Very competitive priced. No restaurant, but there is enough possibilities in the area. Over all, highly recommended

The lobby looked nice, but all public areas (Lobby, Hallways, Breakfast area) did not have any air conditioning; all areas were hot in temperature. Our room had OLD furniture in it; plus the bed had two regular sheets on it..no fitted sheet. So, the sheet on the bottom would come off, and then I was laying directly on the mattress.... More

We stayed here as a base for NYC and it was pretty good for that - the hotel rates are much better that in Manhattan - we took the train in which worked out well - less hassle than driving and the station was just 15-20min walk away. The rooms were a decent size and pretty good - I would... More

We use the Amsterdam whenever we have to be in Stamford for business reasons. It's a hotel that's seen better days but decent enough for a night's stay. Apparently the folks at this hotel don't have an allegiance to customers that stay there on a regular basis. We got charged a higher rate just a few days ago even though... More

Dear Barbara We do apologize that you were given a different rate on the phone to the one given when you walked in. Due to general market forces our rates can actually change 2-3 times in one day. So our front desk staff will always quote the rate set at that particular moment. Again I am sorry that this happens... More

First thing I noticed as walked down the hall was the dank smell of marijuana.. also the room across the hall had different men coming and going throughout the day and well into the night. The room smelled like cigarette smoke. The bed seemed clean and comfortable and the water pressure was good.

Don't let the chandeliers in the lobby fool you; there's nothing fancy about the rest of this place. It is dated, with an odd odor in the hallways upstairs.
