The Heritage Hotel Golf, Spa, and Conference Center is celebrated for its old-world charm and tranquil setting, with many guests appreciating the spotless common areas and the diligent housekeeping. While the rooms are generally found to be comfortable and spacious, some guests have suggested they could benefit from updates and better soundproofing. The hotel's wide array of amenities, including the beautiful pool, gym, and dining options, are well-received, although a few travelers see room for enhancement. Service is typically commendable for its friendliness, though occasional lapses in speed are noted. The central location of the hotel is a highlight, offering a peaceful retreat with convenient access to Southbury's offerings. Opinions on value are mixed, with some guests praising the affordability, while others point out maintenance and pricing issues.

Absolutely outstanding hotel. Old school charm with amazing amenities. Even with all the bells and whistles the best part was the staff. Thank you to Chris for his hard work and kindness. Also thank you to Keith and Margo’s murder mystery weekend. Unforgettable weekend. Thank you. Everyone check out murdermystery.com for a great experience. You will not be disappointed.

Toilet paper holder ripped off the wall when I got to
Room and hole in the wall! Toilet paper just sitting on toilet..for over $200 the room should not have been booked, housekeeping should have let managers know. I was concerned about a hole in the bathroom wall, but too tired to move so I just plugged TP in it and slept!

Must have been a fabulous hotel 20 years ago. Seems to be undergoing staff/management changes. The steam room was dirty and pretty useless. The sauna door did not close sufficiently.
I must say the hot tub was forcefull and hot. The premises are lovely and it is a shame that the hotel did not seem to meet up to Southbury standards.
The cleaning crew was super noisy in the morning. I had to open my door to tell them to be quiet!
I was most annoyed when I received my bill and there was a daily resort fee ($8.00) added to my room. Mind you I had 2 adjoining rooms. One for myself and the other for my daughter with a newborn baby.
She did not use any amenities whatsoever. Never left the room!
The vending machines were void of water the first day we got there so we proceeded to buy 2 bottles at the front desk. The women said they would be the same price as the vending machine which was $2.00. When I received my bill I saw $5.58 and $.41 tax for a bottle billed to my room, then $3.72 and $.27 tax billed to the second room. What the heck was that about? I will be speaking with a manager who will be working on Sat 8/21 about this debacle! NOT happy. Regret staying there.

This hotel is nothing like the Best Western hotel experience I expected. I’ve actually stayed at this property twice before, several years ago, but I was not prepared for the hotel that I found this time for my Thanksgiving visit with my family.

The room was old, dated, and so dark inside that we couldn’t see. Three lamps, each with a single low-wattage bulb. The front desk supplied a fourth single bulb lamp, which made the room minimally passable for our stay.

Housekeeping services were minimal, and, frankly, cheap. The bathmat was removed after our first night, and not replaced. The extra bath towels we requested on the first day were also removed after the first night, and not replaced. The tissue box was left with about four tissues remaining, with no replacement.

The breakfast buffet was, to put it simply, a bad joke. They charge $17.95 for a “buffet“ that included a pile of something resembling scrambled eggs in a serving tray, some greasy bacon, and almost nothing else – no fruit, no pastries, no yogurt, no nothing. Even the cheapest of hotel chains provide a free breakfast buffet that is far better than anything this hotel had the nerve to charge for. We left and went to breakfast in a diner a mile away, and had an outstanding breakfast for 1/3 of the price

Overall, this place looks good on the surface, sounds good in its name and promotional materials, but when it comes right down to it, this hotel is a dump.

Hey 709barrys! I hope you wrote a wonderful review about the Breakfast place because they actually deserve it. We get it, we all come to work so that our guests provide terrible reviews. It's what makes us want to get out of bed in the morning actually. We purposely remove lamps and bathmats. Seriously, thanks for calling us a dump. It only makes us want to work harder to level up to be a level 2 dump. We know we're old and rustic and are working on enhancing our guests experience. Breakfast is $16.95 on the weekends and absolutely should have had fruit, yogurt and pastries of which like every other guest you had a choice to eat or not eat. Again, thanks for the positivity in travel. Happy New Year! Christopher

My family loves to come here for holidays/family reunions. The staff are so friendly and accommodating. We love using the conference room/s for meals, since they are nice, spacious, and clean, but the best part is that the layout of the hotel is that the conference rooms are all located on the bottom floor, with no guest rooms nearby. This allows for the kids to play in the area without disturbing other guests. The other amenities, like the large gym, beautiful pool, ping pong table, pool table, and bar are great as well!

Perhaps a corporation with enough funds will purchase this hotel and start major renovations. This hotel has nerve charging a resort fee when it is not a resort. Window air conditioners date back 25 years ago. That air conditioner in my room was so nosy, I may have gotten 3 hours sleep. Also, the rugs need to be removed, the bathroom had, what looked like black mold. The remote on the tv did not work properly and only network channels were free. As this was a business trip, I did not use any of the so called amenities. Charge a separate fee for amenities ! Who would vacation in Southbury? Weary traveler beware of the 4 pm check in.

Thank you for your review. I've taken note of your observations and comments. We would have been happy to move you to another room in an effort to make your stay more enjoyable. Several of these items we could have handled immediately with a room move. I'm hoping that you'll allow us another opportunity to showcase our hotel as we continue to listen to our guests and focus on their input. Thank you again for the comments.

Warning: ask for a receipt upon check-out or they will charge things to your card without your consent or knowledge.
I was charged a $250 pet fee and a $8 resort fee, and they double charged my room $171 even though I prepaid in advance.
Management is extremely unresponsive to my calls and I attempted to call multiple times and was told that management is not available and that I will be receiving a call back which I never did. I would stay as far away from this hotel as possible. IF you're going there for a wedding like I was, stay somewhere else. IF you're having your wedding there, don't.

Thanks for choosing to express your concerns via TripAdvisor Jannetk997. If you intend on bringing your 2 dogs, leaving them in the middle of the hotel room without informing us allowing them to bark all night unattended then yes, please do not stay here. We're not a dog kennel. I had to be yelled at by several other guests one who has just had a cancer surgery who was less than happy to hear your barking dogs all night and refund him because you also could not be reached. So, pet owners, if you choose to bring your pets, we do have a $55 non refundable pet fee. We are not a doggy day care, do not leave your pets unattended out of the mere courtesy and respect for fellow guests. My Wife and I are splitting up vendor reviews and I was excited to write the review for Heritage Hotel! From the months leading up to the wedding until the day of Heritage was nothing but wonderful! As we approached our wedding state guidelines for COVID continued to change. Heritage did a great job keeping us updated with what that meant for us, as well as being flexible as we made adjustments to headcount, locations of cocktail hour/DJ etc. always coaching us through the experience. Next on the night before the wedding there was a large storm and the power went out throughout the hotel as we were all hanging out the Heritage Hotel Bar (the Tavern). The Heritage Staff was wonderful and actually moved us from the bar into the cocktail hour room (which still had some emergency lighting), setting us up with candles and allowing us to have almost an impromptu pre party! Finally on the day of the wedding we had to transition from being mostly outside to inside due to rain, and everything went off without a hitch! Overall we would highly recommend Heritage and we were happy to go through this experience with them!

I did my reservation online. When I looked at the confirmation, it indicated that I was all set for tonight - May 16th!!! I intended to arrive in October. With a non-refundable booking paid in advance, Kaitlyn identified the problem and fixed it in a minute. She's the best...at Best Western.

no, no dogs - but lots of kids who live in the area and sign up for the pool and gym package!!! if you like to stay in a very nice hotel and keep company with people from the area who do not stay in the hotel. this is the place for you - we never dreamed we would have to share the space with non-hotel guests - just the neighborhood folk

Answer from Barbara S

We were at a wedding and I understood from some friends that their part of the building was nicer. I dint know about adjoining rooms. Also, the hotel had just been or was in the process of being sold. I found out when I looked at my credit card bill they had refunded half the cost of the room. They never sent a notice and I had to call to ask what the charge was. Realistically, they should have refunded 100%.
