We had lived in Barkhamsted, where the Inn is located, for 37 years. While we've seen it many times over those years, we've not stayed there. We came back to Connecticut to close on the sale our house, so it was a unique opportunity to try it out. What at great experience! The Inn is an authentic taste of old New England. Our stay coincided with the peak of the fall leaves and also our 42nd wedding anniversary. We had a nice conversation with Adam and Danamarie about buying the Inn and updating it. Danamarie grew up in the area, as our daughters did. She knows the history and appreciates the beauty of the area. The Inn is across the Farmington river from the old Hitchcock Chair Company, where we'd purchased fine furniture over the decades. It's also a very short walk to the site of the Riverton Fair, the final country fair in Connecticut each autumn. We hope to stay again in the future when we return to visit our many old friends still in the area. We wish Danamarie and Adam the best as they update the Inn, expand the dining and reopen the tavern. I half expect the Inn to become a stagecoach stop once again! Ted

I stayed there recently just when the ownership was just changing hands. I can't comment on the previous owners, although i made my reservations through them, and at the time the woman seemed a bit confused. The new owners are wonderful! So accommodating, friendly and helpful. My room was quaint and comfortable. The flat screen TV had a full variety of options and the room had fast WIFI. I usually don't sleep well when not in my own bed, but i slept wonderfully! I was there for 2 nights and had the best sleep both nights. The breakfast was plentiful and a full-on breakfast, starting with a seasonal fruit dish, coffee/tea, OJ , and waffle/pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon, etc. between the two breakfast mornings. The food is cooked to order, delicious and plentiful. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and highly recommend it to anyone traveling in the area.

We stayed at the Inn one night following a wedding. Our reservation got lost in the owner-transition period, but Adam and Danamarie were so gracious to accommodate us even though they were officially not taking guests that weekend due to the amount of work being done at the Inn - for this we were truly grateful. The kitchen was being totally renovated, but one of the neighbors had been commissioned to make muffins,(fabulous) and with fresh fruit and coffee all was well. Adam and Danamarie have a wonderful vision for the Inn - we cannot wait to see the end result and will definitely return.

We have stayed at the inn several times over many years. It is a historic gem, but needed some updating. Danamarie and Adam, the new owners, are lovingly restoring the inn. They are welcoming and enthusiastic. We booked the entire inn for a recent wedding and all of our guests were very pleased. Breakfast was a welcome and delicious addition! The village of Riverton is adorable with lovely hiking nearby. Highly recommend!

Spent a Saturday night here for a nearby wedding. The new owners are so nice and responsive. They are renovating the facility but keeping the historic feel. Nice, big room, very clean. An excellent, large breakfast was provided.
