NUMBER OF ROOMS
This fortified farmhouse is in a great location on the outskirts of Meo Vac. Very handy for the market. Courtyard / foyer/ bar area is very welcoming. Rooms are fine but walls are 2m tall bamboo screens and offer little privacy. Bathroom is downstairs so best to get a ground floor room if you're not good with steep steps, with no hand rail,in the dark. Evening meal was fine without being outstanding. Breakfast included but not taken as we were up very early for the market. By homestay standards this was good but if you think you're coming to an hotel you'll be disappointed.
I love the style of this homestay. It offers you local experience but good accommodation. Private room and dorm are available. Food is delicious and more than enough. I stayed here 1 night but I would recommend to stay 2 or more if you have time. Highly recommend.
Addit - previous review commented on noise level - apparently there was a wedding being celebrated in the village that continued for couple of days during our stay .. the last night spent there was very quiet .. was cooler during our stay .. no heating in main areas and bedrooms cold .. ate meals with coats on .. probably ok in warmer months
If you are doing the loop through Meo Vac, this is a really good option. A nice family run place for the night. The rooms are clean and comfortable, with traditional bare walls. The bathrooms are shared, but plenty of hot water and clean and well maintained. The food was very good and the family who run the place were very friendly, but with limited English. The place has the feel of a homestay. The only downside of our stay were the other guests. Unfortunately, there were just the 2 of us and then a large group of around 14, who were very noisy and inconsiderate. We cannot blame the hotel for this. Without that group, the place would have been perfect.
We stayed here for one night as a part of a prearranged tour so we didn‘t choose this place by our own. The house looks charming and cute from the outside. The patio and eating area are cute too at night with the lights, the whole atmosphere feels familial. Our room was on the upper floor (steep stairs!) on the right and looked quite nice at first sight but the wall behind the bed was quite ugly and when we went to bed we found a very big (5cm long!) cockroach crawling on the wall!! We tried to catch it but it was too fast. A little bit later it appeared again (or another one?) on the top of the wall where we couldn’t reach it so there was no sleep for us the whole night as you could also hear small animals walking around :( It got even more horrible when a grain of maize fell onto our bed from the balk of the ceiling. Don‘t even want to know what animals were up there... We told everything to our guide who talked to the staff and they said they would have had mosquito nets but didn‘t think about giving them to us. They also say they clean the house from beetles and everything 2 or 3 times a week but we don‘t really know how this works as the whole house is kind of open and there are gaps between the walls and balks... The other thing that wasn‘t really cool was the fact that our room was above the kitchen so our room was very smoky when they were cooking and you could smell the smoke in the room. The staff was really nice and friendly though but they didn‘t really apologize for anything even though they knew :( We would not stay here again!! …
