We have just returned from 3 nights at Cannua and all I can say is wow. The lodge is beautiful and the service is impeccable. We especially enjoyed time with Santi and his explanation of permaculture and the philosophy of the hotel. We could feel his passion for the stories that bind together the building, the land and the people. We also loved the restaurant with some great and unique flavor profiles to try at every meal.

My girlfriend and I stayed for two days and one night at Cannua. On the first day, Brian organized an amazing day trip to Coconde Coffee plantation, where we explored the only fully organic coffee plantation in Colombia. The full day tour took us to a region that felt untouched by tourism. After getting back late, we stayed in the room which had a beautiful view of the nearby countryside. The next day we explored the amenities on site. We partook in the mountain hike, the chocolate tasting and the permaculture tour. All of which were led by very knowledgeable guides who spoke excellent English. The food was the true highlight of Cannua. The kitchen team brings farm-to-table cuisine to a whole new level. Each meal was delicious and embraced the local ingredients. We were fortunate enough to stay for Christmas Eve, where there was a huge family style meal with live music. Cannua was a magical place to stay. 5/5, you should add Cannua to your Medellin and Colombia itineraries!…

The location can’t be beat and the service is top notch. The rum tasting and the hike organized by the hotel were highlights of our entire Colombia trip. The staff were knowledgeable and friendly and made a huge difference in the joy from our vacation. The restaurant is incredibly high quality - it’s easily a top restaurant on the country. The entire experience was enjoyable and I highly recommend to anyone visiting the Medellin area!

Best place ever! The food, incredible. The view, stunning. An awesome space to connect with nature, relax and focus. The staff is friendly and courteous, the hotel is sustainability focused and it provides permaculture sessions to outline how the gardens in the property work to provide for their own ingredients but also to serve as food for insects eliminating the need for pesticides or hatful chemicals. We really enjoyed our time at Cannua!

Cannua is a place we’re going to be able to say we knew when. Every ingredient is there: proximity to an international airport, incomparable mountaintop views, impeccable bilingual service, a slew of activities (hiking, day trips, yoga, massages, food and drink tastings), and a kitchen that rivals those in New York City (where I’m from). This place is about 5 seconds away from being booked months in advance and I am so glad we got to spend 3 nights there. And have 9 meals! Co-founders Brian and Santi put a ton of thought into the design, the architecture, the menu, all of it. Read about it on the website and it feels like good advertising. Meet these guys and you’ll see it’s genuine. They really care about building something different in Colombia. Brian spent a lot of time with our family - beyond his generosity, enthusiasm, and amazing recommendations for traveling throughout Colombia, what stuck with us most was when he said, “This is your home.” The way we were treated by him and the entire staff made us believe it. Get yourself to Cannua while you can - we stayed in a 2 level junior suite with unbelievable views. Not ashamed to say we spent most of the weekend reading books in our comfy Cannua-provided robes, staring out the floor-to-ceiling windows, listening to the birds. This is a gorgeous lodge, and is an amazing experience. So much thought and care has gone into every detail. It is based on permaculture and is sustainable. I cannot recommend Cannúa more highly!! The staff and proprietors are wonderful !!!

Initially I thought it was a cool glamping and we were only going to stay one night on our way to Guatape. I was not even close! After we looked into all of the activities we extended an additional night (we changed Guatape to a different day even thou they do offer a tour but we wanted to enjoy the hotel more.) We were so glad we did an additional night and we will definitely need to come back. The permaculture talk was extremely educational and inspiring we loved learning the process of the hotel and the principles they are guided by. We did the prehispanic hike the guides, the others guests and the views were incredible. We also enjoyed the chocolate tasting which was very interesting. On our last day we decided to go paragliding, another amazing experience! Everyone in the hotel was very hospitable, thank you for an amazing experience! We look forward to coming back and enjoying the activities we did not have time for and congratulations on a beautiful project.…

We stayed in the Junior Suite at Cannua, for 3 nights. First of all, the rooms are absolutely STUNNING - simple yet warm, with every detail thought through. The beds are SO comfortable - I travel a lot for work and rarely experience this type of bed + bedding. The floor-to-ceiling windows are gorgeous and make you feel like you're sleeping in the jungle. To wake up to the sound of the birds is absolutely a dream for someone who comes from the city. The staff at Cannua made our experience so much more amazing because of their warm hospitality, and true and genuine care for the environment and the ambience of the lodge. They made sure we felt comfortable asking for anything we needed and truly went above and beyond. Fabian who did our coffee and chocolate tasting was an expert in his craft - he kept us engaged for 2 hours with his storytelling and you could tell he just loved telling us about his part of the world. The activities at Cannua are varied - hiking, yoga, massages, chocolate/coffee/rum tastings, etc. - you can really fill your time here. I was also blown away by the permaculture talk/tour which was inspiring as well as educational. We learned that the co-founders of Cannua had waited to 2 years after the buying the land to build anything on it so they could watch and wait and see how nature unfolds naturally there, which helped them execute a flawless permaculture experience and build the whole hotel according to permaculture principles. The co-founders are so passionate about their property and never tire of answering your questions! The FOOD - where to begin!? The food is one of the best parts of the experience at Cannua. Every plate was so carefully presented, the flavours were amazing, and you could tell that the chef and kitchen team were experts. They carefully curated each dish, with ingredients from the garden or surrounding areas, and the dishes were inventive and inspiring. Definitely recommend the house salad, and the chocolate dessert, as well as the chicken main course. Overall - this was the perfect 3-night vacation and we can't wait to come back and explore nearby Guatape as well (most people go to Guatape from Medellin which is 2 hours and much harder to handle as a day trip, whereas it's less than an hour from Cannua). Cannua is one of those hidden gems that are such a treat to discover. It’s so special to sit in that balcony, with the amazing mountain air, the beautiful view of the valley, and, most importantly, the some of the best food and drink you’ll have in Colombia… and beyond. I think about mornings savoring the best coffee in the hemisphere… evenings trying the region’s best rums… days hiking the trails of Marinilla and beyond, spotting 20 species of beautiful birds in as many minutes… I can’t wait to go back.

Cannot express enough how much I enjoyed my two nights at Cannua Lodge. Great staff, great Location, Great Service and Great Rooms. We stayed in bungalow which were quirky and fun and had fabulous views. Loved the restaurant and servers were outstanding. Food was fabulous. Wish the menu was more extensive. All food natural and local. Loved the eco-friendly design and food. Owner Brian is super friendly. Had an AMAZING fun and learning Rum Tasting one night. Staff helped us secure car service, guides etc. I will be back.
