I was so impressed with my stay at the Old Lyme Inn - stayed 10 evenings. I had planned to stay 4 evenings but plans changed and I had to extend my stay. The staff was extremely accommodating making sure I did not need to change rooms. My room was comfortable with a fireplace and a large comfortable bed, and full bathroom. Each day the room was completely cleaned and prepared. I was in and out with crazy hours, always being greeted with a warm welcome. The dinners, drinks and service were outstanding. I ‘ll be returning in the spring and looking forward to seeing this kind and welcoming staff.

The Inn is a sprawling mid-eighteenth century mansion, filled with antiques. Each room is different; there is even a sitting room/game room/library. Our first-floor room (Room 3) was spacious and well furnished, complete with a working (gas) fireplace and a nice sitting area in front of the fireplace. Extra large windows made the room light and airy, and gave a great view of the fall leaves outside. The king-size bed was very comfortable, and covered with a lovely (and heavy) comforter. Lesley and her colleagues were friendly and helpful, making at a truly enjoyable experience.
Breakfast was a treat, with a nice menu to order from. A great place to eat a good breakfast while looking out the windows at the beautiful fall foliage. We highly recommend it and we definitely plan to return!

My wife and i stayed 2 days and had a wonderful experience. The hosts were very helpful and attentive, we dined in the beautiful and quite relaxing dining rooms, the menu, service, and the meal was A 5 star. The Room was very comfortable and clean, "BUEATIFU" You will not find a better nights sleep , so quiet! Everyone at the Inn was spectacular, above and beyond. The hosts were very impressive ,including the jazz club (side door) staff which i again will give 5 star for performance art, it was truly an awesome venue, very pleasing, a gem. I thank the staff for their hospitality and friendliness. My wife and i will be coming back, we love it at Old Lyme Inn!

Quick getaway I want to be honest without being rude. I thought this INN was charming and has a very historic New England flair. The women working reception and in bar/restaurant were soo very pleasant and sweet. They gave great suggestions for local activities and we really enjoyed talking to them. I give these women 5 stars!! Loved their kindness. I'm giving 3 stars for the INN itself. I travel for a living and see a-bit of everything. Our rooms were just soo soo for the price I feel. We had room 9 & 11 9 was fine. Basic . The more expensive room.. not sure why. I did miss hangers and somewhere to but my bag instead of floor. 9 was decorated little better, so visually more appealing but bed sunken in the middle and we kept both rolling towards center. Both of our Backs hurt awful In Morning The shower was advertised as small as low and awkward but it really wasn't an issue and we didn't mind it at all. They could've made it look better if they had trimmed the shower curtain as it laid inches onto the floor. When you flush, the shower gurgles … beware. Lol This room also had no hangers and absolutely nowhere for our bags to be placed except to open on the floor. The dinner was preset - a appetizer ( soup or salad) , main course ( meat, ck, or seafood stew ) and dessert. 50 a person. We decided for $100 for the two of us, we would go to a place where we had more of a selection. We only stayed for a beer, which included a service fee. It was just odd to us. Breakfast was fine. Simple . Tasted fine. As I said, the people working here are so very pleasant But for the prices of these rooms, the uncomfortable beds, stained carpets, suitcases on floor, no way to hang clothes….. we will pass next time

After an earlier visit with friends my wife and I decided to plan an escape weekend at the Old Lyme Inn. Warm welcome from Lesley and Tosh, great and beautiful room with fireplace (5), delicious dinner (Duck and Short ribs), took desert and bottle of wine into The Side Door and enjoyed the Randy Brecker Quintet for a few hours. Couldn’t have been a better stay!

This was our second visit. Such a wonderful charming New England inn with fabulous music and food. When you’re checking in your greeted with such hospitality. The Inn is beautifully decorated. We stayed in room three with the bathtub and fireplace. It is decorated beautifully, beds are very comfortable and the gas fireplace really makes the room so cozy. The views are spectacular on the property. We purchased tickets to the side door Jazz club. It’s such an intimate room and The entertainment was awesome. The owner Ken has such a passion for music And he is such a down to earth guy. His wife Chris is also very nice. We had dinner in the beautifully decorated dining room with the fireplace with linen table cloths, Gorgeous huge windows. The dinner and dessert were delicious. I think that was the best cheesecake we’ve ever had and it was made in house. We had the flank steak over lo mein and that was the best ever. Sunday brunch was delicious and Ken and musicians play in the lobby till 2 PM. The eggs Benedict and the steak tacos were delicious. You can hear the live music from the dining room. We sat in the dining room with the bar and fireplace and it is well lit. It is so inviting. After brunch, we sat in the sitting area enjoying the musicians. Truly a fabulous experience at the old Lyme inn. We went across the street to enjoy the wonderful art gallery and the museum. It’s on such a wonderful property with trails so we definitely want to go back in warmer weather to enjoy the property. All the staff were very friendly and service was amazing. Book your stay. You will not be disappointed!!!

The inn has tasteful decor, plush linen and towels, ample parking and a good made-to-order breakfast in their beautiful dining room.
As lovely as all of the appointments are, we cannot say enough good things about the staff! Everyone was genuinely friendly and responsive to guest needs in small and big ways. A server overheard us asking about plastic cups for room and in less than a minute, we had cups in our hand.
Some elderly relatives joined us for the jazz brunch. The music was lovely, but a bit too loud for their hearing aids. Without asking, the staff changed our seating to a slightly more remote table, allowing us to enjoy the food, music and conversation. One of our brunch guests had mobility issues, the staff was thoughtful in explaining an accessible route and operating their mini-elevator during the busy brunch.

My wife and I had a wonderful time here. We stayed in the inn and went to the attached Jazz club both nights. The staff was very nice and accommodating for romantic weekend requests such as champagne and chocolate strawberries in the room. They suggested things to do in the area and made us feel very welcome.

I made a reservation on Friday August 13 for a birthday trip August 28-September 1. Butter could have melted in the mouth of the woman who took my credit card number. She was so nice, I did not get a confirmation #. She promised an e-mail. On Sunday August 15 I telephoned the Inn but could only leave a message to ask for confirmation or let me know that I needed to reserve elsewhere. No call back; no email! Buyer beware!!!

This is a real gem of a place. The inn is charming, the town is beautiful, the rooms are attractive, the service is friendly and responsive, and most of all the jazz club is fantastic! They get the very top people out of New York and we have never been disappointed even though we have had years of experience in the best jazz clubs in New York. In the warm weather, the outside Sunday brunches with local jazz musicians is a wonderful way to spend a weekend morning. We are so very fortunate to have such an incredible place in our back yard.
