Very nice place what got me was I’m into energy, rocks and crystals so when I saw my view in my room I had to appreciate the craftsmanship in building a hotel this close to mountain rocks. Something about rocks I love so Connecticut as a whole is nice place to visit for the energy it creates also this hotel is situated close to a wine and spirits where a good Malbec ALAMOS is a great selection I recommend then mosy over to Brasítos restaurant right next door to the hotel and have a excellent meal! 👌🏾 All good here had a good time!!!

I have been to hundreds if not thousands of restaurants, hotels, shows, etc, and while my review count may not reflect it, I can admit I’m leaving posts out of my honest experience. To any establishment that I have ever given a one star rating to, I genuinely apologize (except the Hard Rock in Vegas), because NOTHING in the world that I have ever experienced can compare to the Even Hotel in Norwalk. I arrived on Friday June 7 to check into my room, and stood at the front counter for approximately 10 minutes with no one acknowledging me. The phone was ringing off the hook, but no one even looked up to make eye contact. I understand when things are busy, but acknowledge that I’m there. A young man was being trained, and come to find out, he had checked someone else into my room. The young woman training him, with long hair (rooted black, and the remaining hot pink) could not have cared less. How could you check someone else into my room when you need an ID and credit card? I was passed over to a gentleman named Marvin, who was an absolute professional, and made sure to rectify the situation as quickly as possible. A manager came over, never spoke to me or acknowledged me, as they attempted to come to a solution. She promptly walked away, and Marvin went through everything with me, assuring I wasn’t going to be charged for multiple rooms, and that the mix up would be taken care of immediately. He printed me a receipt showing that my card was only charged once, which was greatly appreciated. While I was checking in, the other two were allowing people to cut the line and address their concerns for everyone to hear. Who’s reservation was lost, who’s keys didn’t work, etc while customers stood in line unacknowledged. The female who was training actually walked away from the desk with a guest for an extended period of time, while the young man stood there entirely useless. He didn’t even feel it was appropriate to answer the phone, so Marvin was handling double duty. From there, the nightmare continued. The hotel is pet friendly which I understand, but the restaurant and bar is not where owners should be gathering for play dates with their dogs. You have to walk through the “bar area” to get to the elevators, at which point several other guests had to tell me not to be afraid of their dogs who were sniffing and jumping at me. The path to the elevators is also the same as where the bar stools are, and with the customers lounging, you had to step into the “dining area” to get by. The bathroom is closed only by a sliding frosted glass barn door, which is not enough to give privacy or contain odors. The hotel is brand new, so it is spotless (housekeeping was also VERY pleasant and well mannered), the bed was quite comfortable, and everything seemed to be in working order. Outside of this, it is simply atrocious. The customer service is horrific, and had it not been for Marvin, I would’ve promptly walked out. Hopefully the hotel realizes that he is an asset to their staff. In a final insult to injury, my room was $95 for the evening (weekend corporate rate), and the incidental hold was $75 a night. If you are staying here on your own dime, make sure to plan accordingly. $75 a day in holds is quite obnoxious IMO. I’m an IHG Platinum member and have had incidental holds at the Intercontinental and Kimpton at cheaper rates. No vending machines, just a “hydration station” that needs your hand in front of the sensor to turn on, and then spills ice and water all over your hand. No dressers to store clothing, awkward room set up, and you share the exercise equipment with prior guests. They provide Lysol wipes to wipe down mats before hand, but it seems unsanitary and quite gross.

We really enjoyed the ambience, reception decor, and comfort of the rooms. But the housekeeping left much to be desired. The housekeeper totally failed to show on one day and when she did show the next, we failed to receive any cups or soap. Although the front desk supplied the items after we called this was no excuse for the breakdown in service
