After an afternoon of golf in Canaan, we were welcomed to the Blackberry River Inn by Lucas. He showed us two rooms that we could choose from with a connecting bathroom for when our daughter arrived. We stayed in the Carriage House. Although the rooms were a little small, they were comfortable & immaculate. No TV in the room but we could watch TV in the family room just below us. The best part of the Blackberry River Inn was breakfast! Pancakes were served with warm fruit (strawberries, blueberries & apples) - it was almost too pretty to eat! My husband had eggs, sausage & waffles. We also had fruit cups & yogurt plus non-stop coffee & tea. All staff followed Covid protocols (masks were worn & tables were apart from each other). The dining room had a lovely view of the foliage & mountain across the road. The Inn is located on Route 44 in Norfolk, a good location for traveling about the area.

Our family of three enjoyed the beauty and charm of the Blackberry River Inn for a weekend this Fall. The hosts were warm and gracious, particularly Lucas, whose hospitality and attentiveness were extraordinary. The room and beds were very comfortable, and breakfast was delicious. We are all eager to return! Thank you, Lucas, and the wonderful team at Blackberry River Inn!

The main building is lovely The breakfasts are excellent, there is a friendly staff. A charming Inn in a great location in New England. Breakfast room is delightful. The breakfast room is a treat in addition to the delicious food. Many nearby lakes, ponds, parks and woodland walks.

We had a wonderful two nights' stay at this beautiful 18th century inn, on the National Historic Register. Super maintenance, immaculately clean. Great breakfast. Great service. Lovely grounds and lap pool. We look forward to going back.

No matter the season or whatever else is happening in the world, the Inn is a welcome respite from regular life. I've stayed numerous times over the years, and my experience in July this year was no different. With my company's offices closed until further notice, I spent a week working remotely from the Inn as a break from working from home. The wifi is generally strong in the main house and in the common areas. We stayed in two large suites: M1 and M2 (we switched halfway, both are excellent). Breakfast is outstanding, and the inn staff all seem to take proper covid-related precautions, which is a relief. The pool, especially during this hot summer, was fantastic! Keep in mind that you're still in rural Connecticut: restaurants close early (especially during covid-19) and the closest big stores (e.g. Target/Walmart) are at least a 20 minute drive. But as long as you plan ahead, that shouldn't be much of a problem. Overall, the Inn - and the area - is a wonderful place to spend time.
