We had a wonderful stay at the Blueberry Mountain Inn. The hosts were gracious, the breakfasts were large and delicious, and the outdoor pool was amazing. We stayed during the peak of summer and being able to swim and relax in the pool over the hot days and nights was so nice. We basically had the pool to ourselves, which was extra nice.
Great stay for 2 nights. Lucas is lovely. Room was clean; grounds are gorgeous. Breakfast was excellent. Our dog Henry enjoyed as well. Found good restaurants. This little guy greeted us upon arrival. Will definitely be back!
My wife and I stayed here for two nights and our stay was very nice. It is an old inn with many spacious public rooms with period furnishings. It is a very nice property and setting with mountains in the distance. Breakfast was excellent, well-prepared with fresh ingredients, great service, and a lovely breakfast room with many windows and nice views. The inn has a good-sized swimming pool outback, up the hill, that you can actually swim in. The water is cool and refreshing and does not have too much chlorine in it (I'm wondering if it is spring fed). Lucas, who is from Spain, is an outstanding host--friendly, helpful, always present, and a good conversationalist. He was always very accommodating. (He let my wife play one of their grand pianos so she could practice for an upcoming event we were on our way to.) Lucas knows the area very well for miles around--good hiking, waterfalls, cultural venues, restaurants. We attended both the Norfolk Chamber Music Festival and Music Mountain near Fall Village; the inn is convenient to both. The inn appears as if it could accommodate larger groups while still being intimate. A friend of mine told me afterwards that he had attended a conference there.…
wonderful location with beautiful, clean rooms and an excellent breakfast served by Innmaster Lucas and his staff. Friendly service, with a variety of breakfast choices at any time of the morning. We come every year.
Blackberry River Inn exceeded expectations. Was referred but did not get "details". The hospitality was personal and professional. Breakfast!!!! Not just a muffin. Omelets, pancakes, fresh fruit, served in a beautiful sun lit dining room. The rooms and bathrooms were lovely, all amenities you could possibly need. And, most important, spotless wherever you were. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend The Blackberry Inn.
Booked for my parents to stay over Easter weekend. They had a lovely time and really enjoyed the classic style large room. I joined for breakfast and it was delicious and Lucas the manager was very friendly and helpful in arranging the stay. Would definitely book again.
I made an online reservation with the comment that I had a dog. Dogs are allowed according to the web site. I called the next day to confirm my on line reservation. I had a confirmation number. I was told t5hat I was speaking to the owner. He told me he would no honor my reservation because it was for one night even if it was confirmed He also told me they do not accept dogs even though the web site goes onto great deal of detail regarding pets. While I was on the phone with this fellow the email cancellation came through. I do not think the owner is honorable
The Blackberry River harks back to a time when life was simpler & the pace was more manageable. It is a charming inn filled with old fashioned furniture and accessories; some antique, some not, but all collectable and the eclectic mix simply just works. The staff--especially Lucas and Joe--are friendly and very accommodating. Best of all is the amazing breakfasts served in a charming sunroom. It more homey than fancy which is a pleasant relief from more manufactured environments. We loved it!
We were here about 37 years ago for the first time. I wanted a little overnight instead of a long drive home after a show at the Infinity. It was perfect. This time we stayed in the Carriage House. The room was clean, quiet and just charming. The bed was not as comfortable as we would have liked, but for one night it was acceptable. Breakfast is beyond delicious! This is a perfect little get away spot in a quiet part of the state. You are just far enough away to feel peaceful yet close enough to anything you might need. The staff couldn't be nicer.
Our stay was amazing! The property is beautiful and our room was cozy and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and everyone was kind and helpful. Hands down, a wonderful place to stay, and we would stay here again in a heartbeat.
