This hotel is quaint & very clean. Don't expect all the frills of newer hotels, but the staff at the hotel are very accommodating. The best part is that it's one half a block from Yale, so you can walk everywhere.

I know what I love (and I know what I hate...) I love old hotels that pre-date the cookie cutter sameness of 90% of today's lodging options. Take ANY of the major brand mass market hotels that dot the National map - you know the chains, I'm not going to name them here - they are literally everywhere you want... More

I had a conference at Yale and discovered when I got there that they had mixed up with my arrival date and I had no place to stay. I called Hotel Duncan and was very grateful that they had a room available for the night. It's an historic building; I had a room at the top floor. It was quite... More

Came to New Haven for a weekend on my own and didn't want to spend too much money. It is not luxury by any means. It's an extremely old hotel that hasn't been renovated in many years, but this adds to it's charm. You have to be willing to stay in a place with little/no AC, and few amenities. However,... More

This hotel was conveniently in the center of New Haven. The room was comfortable, but old (and remember to bring your own toiletries, as none are provided). The internet is pretty poor, but there are many coffee shops nearby.

This hotel has good reviews and my interaction with the staff was very positive. The halls, rooms and public spaces are very old, dark, and smell very badly of cigarette smoke. I did not feel safe there and chose to move hotels. While the location was ideal for me the smell of smoke, the very old bed and dingy bathroom... More

I CANNOT believe anyone ever voted that this hotel was acceptable! This is the worst place I have ever stayed and I have stayed in many, many places! Forget that the location is not great...I was in a room with cigarette burns on the sheets, exposed box springs, dirty walls, and shag carpeting all over - in every room and... More

Well let me start with pros and then I get to the cons! Location is great; close to yale university art gallery and old campus, lots of cafe options! problems come to the building itself! I am assuming you should see the hotel as a historic site! So unless you are not ingo a historic building, it doesn't worth the... More

I stayed at the at the Duncan Hotel for while attending a conference at Yale. I was looking for a less expensive alternative, and found the Duncan. It is an older, historic hotel, so the rooms are a little irregular, but the bed and the bathroom were good, and all was reasonably clean. The internet in the room was fine.... More

The hotel is doing its job with providing comfortable bed and daily house keeping. It doesn't offer much else, and you shouldn't rely on it on anything but the accommodation. Also, the staff are very nice.
