My room had an amazing view of the city. Room was huge! Comes with a Nespresso machine. Staff were very friendly. Convenient location near Yale University. There is a rooftop which is supposed to be very nice, but I never accessed it. Lots of good eating options within walking distance.
Everything about the Omni in New Haven is First Class. From the desk to the young man who ran our gift package up to our floor. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable . Self parking for a small fee which was very helpful. The Omni is only a few feet from Yale and we didn't even need our car. Breakfast the next morning was wonderful , the sausage egg and cheese English muffin sandwich was hand made not pre made thawed sandwich. The entire hotel is clean and spotless. I would recommend the Omni to everyone.
I am an Omni brand fan. Typically, I am wowed with Omni and enjoy the extra perks of my platinum status . This property was underwhelming to say the least. The property is dated and bordering on shabby - peeling paint and rickety elevator. The services and amenities are non existent. I understand that many hotels have had to scale back due to covid. The prices do not reflect this - my room was 240 per night. I understand no room service however you cannot get any food, not even a snack - bag of chips - or beverage after 11 a.m. Valet parking is only available on the weekends. I do not understand the relationship between COVID and valet parking. I was not offered but had to specifically request assistance with my bags. While they say that the property is pet friendly and charge the customery 125 pet fee, there are no bags or designated area to dispose of waste. This was a stop over for me as a treat after two back to back college drop offs - long road trips. Certainly, not a treat.…
In New Haven on business, we usually stay at a hotel adjacent to campus. We pulled up and no one greeted us in the valet, which was odd but given hiring issues right now, we shrugged it off. We got to the room and the heat would not come on. Sixty-four is a bit chilly for us, and when we called the desk for help, they sent up a space heater. One can only assume this is a common problem if they have separate space heaters. The tv console door fell off, the bracket on the bathroom door was so sharp that it ripped my satin shirt, and the guy at the front desk was rude and did not listen to my question. He also said they only have valet on Friday and Saturday, The hotel is old, really outdated (1990s carpet?), and the rooms are cramped. Save yourselves the pain and go to a better hotel. The Omni brand is having issues, but this location is awful.…
I rented two rooms for our family, booked direct, paid full price as a Select member. Negatives: We were given the two rooms right off the elevator on the 14th floor overlooking a parking garage. This building is old. Thin walls, thin glass, lots of noise from the elevator and all the doors slamming closed. The sounds of the city are truly overwhelming, even from the 14th, especially from 1:30am to 3am when the kids pour out of the clubs. Beds were actually kinda firm and top sheet was kinda scratchy feeling. Online account review/checkout on tv was unavailable. Only slightly annoying but I don't know why hotels can't get their together and have those systems work correctly. Positives: It's a beautiful, old, classy hotel in a great location. Parking was reasonable and easy. Check-in/Check-out was quick. The bar/restaurant on the 19th floor was elegant with a beautiful view. We had a fun night and it was a nice location but it's not a restful night's sleep on a weekend. I couldn't do more than a night here. I would swing by just to have a drink up on 19 though. That was cool.…
The Omni is a busy hotel in downtown New Haven near Yale, restaurants, theaters and shopping. There is adjoining parking garage for a fee. The hotel was clean and followed strict Covid protocol. Housekeeping was provided. The staff was friendly and provided great service. There were limited restaurant hours due to Covid. The rooms were suitable and clean. There was a mini fridge in the room. While we felt safe enough, the neighborhood was not the best. The hotel is great for a trip to Yale or the surrounding area but is not a destination. We had morning coffee included with our room.
We had a 16th floor room facing Temple Street and on Friday and Saturday nights the music coming from the club directly across the street was loud enough that you could not only hear it but also feel the vibrations until it stopped at around 2:30 am! Ugh! If you’re okay with a lack of sleep (or hanging out at the club across the street) the location is very convenient to Yale campus, there’s a bunch of good places to eat within a few blocks and the reception staff was very nice.
We were in New Haven celebrating a wedding anniversary. Our kids surprised us with a suite at the Omni, and it was absolutely fantastic. The hotel was busy, but the staff took good care of us including chocolate covered strawberries and champagne. Staff were very attentive (a shout out to Aubrey in Guest Services), the hotel was very clean, the beds comfortable, and the atmosphere was Yale-y, which is a good thing. There are excellent restaurants across the street (the Ethiopian one is yummy) and the green is half a block north. There is no food on-site except for a small coffee place that's open for a short while some mornings. I would absolutely stay here again.
If management only reads two words of this review, I would like them to be Leanne Caputo. We arrived in New Haven after a day of flying only to find the original hotel we booked to not be in a convenient area for the purposes of our visit. We contacted the Omni hotel and Leanne Caputo (I believe she is the reservations manager) went above and beyond to secure the perfect wheelchair accessible room for us. We were so comfortable during our 4 night stay here. She not only took care of everything we were looking for but also took care of things we hadn’t even thought of yet— parking, WiFi, nearby restaurants, etc— such a pleasure to feel so taken care of after a long day of travel. And overall, the Omni is in a great location (Chapel & Temple streets, across from New Haven Green), with well appointed rooms and a classy (but not stuffy) lobby. We never saw Leanne again during our stay, but we hope she reads this and knows how much she was appreciated.…
My family stayed at the Omni Yale Newhaven for a recent wedding event. Four of the rooms occupied by the wedding party had non- working HVAC systems ( in August). Two of the families actually had to move to different rooms, one of which was supplied with a portable AC unit.. This is unacceptable on all levels especially during a wedding event where basic comfort is expected. Guests occupying rooms facing the street should expect loud noise all night until 1:30 am until which time the police shut down the night-club crowd using sirens and loud PA announcement. Ridiculous. The hotel was very clean and well kept. The staff very friendly and helpful.
