To stay at the House of 1833 is to find out and enjoy what a Bread and Breakfast is meant to be. Our host Evan and Robert are warm and gracious and make you feel like loved family members. The house is warm and the decorations are beautiful antiques. The garden could be the envy of most small town botanical... More

This was our fifth stay at the House of 1833 and it wont be our last. We have been going to the House of 1833 since 2010 when we found this gem on the Bed and Breakfast website. We have stayed in three of the five guests rooms, the Veranda Room (three times), the Oak room and the Ivy Room... More

This was our first time booking a B&B and surprising it turn out really great. Great food and great hosts (Robert and Evan) the nicest people I ever met. They made us so comfortable that it felt like home. We decided to book another trip during Christmas and New Year. The house was full of antiques and each rooms was... More

My husband Michael and I went to Mystic for Labor Day, the highlight of our visit was the House of 1833, a wonderful place indeed where we spent 3 days. I can only praise Evan and Robert for their dedication to make the stay o their guests an unforgettable experience. It was with heartfelt warmth that Evan introduced us to... More

Many of the Inns in the area are more colonial in feel, but House of 1833 is Victorian and opulent. We loved the exciting gardens, and the decorations were plush and luxurious. The hospitality is warm and welcoming and both Robert and Evan are very helpful in recommending places to go and things to do. We stayed in the Ivy... More

My husband and I needed some "away from reality time". We stayed two nights at this beautiful bed and breakfast. It was located near Mystic center but far enough away from the crowds. The Inn Keepers, Robert and Evan, were very friendly and helpful. Hospitality was A+. The mansion and rooms were magnificent with so many interesting antiques and paintings.... More

My significant other and I spent two days in the Copula room on the top floor with a stairway leading to an 8'sq (+/-) cupula with windows on all 4 sides. High above - we enjoyed a gentile breeze while relaxing in two wingchairs. It was magical. The main room itself was a wonder - painted in a deep wine... More

My wife and I stayed only 2 nights, but we were very pleased with this b n b. We arrived super early in the day and we had not even checked in, but were asked to join them for breakfast and it was great! We felt quite at home, pet the dog, and marveled at the decor. Evan was congenial,... More

I wanted to impress a girl I care very much about so I insisted that we stay here. Knowing she liked antiques and old fashioned decor I snatched up the earliest reservation I could. Although some would say this is expensive for such an old place The House of 1833 aged like fine wine. Although some of the garden was... More

It was the love of my life's 60th birthday and I wanted to plan something special. We have never been to Mystic so began to research some B&B's. The birthday boy never visited one but was very welcoming to the idea. Thankfully, I choose the perfect place, The House of 1833. We met Robert as we parked in the back... More
