Loved this place! Our hosts were absolutely charming. Made us feel really special. The room was beautiful, huge, romantic, lovely view with private veranda. Large hot tub in the room, complimentary sparking chilled wine for our anniversary. Breakfast! Gorgeous. Romantic, relaxing setting, eating outside under cover, nice music playing, loved the food, and Ethan was such a charming person. We... More

Just returned from a stay at this historic mansion - amazing! First, the wonderful vibe of the house starts with its incredible owners - Evan and Robert. From the moment I called to inquire about making a reservation, Evan was a wealth of helpful information. In person, he is charm personified and incredibly gracious, intelligent and informed. He responded to... More

This 2-story + cupola home is fascinating. It is full of eye and thought catching antique treasures -- furniture, lamps, pictures.... Our hosts, Evan and Robert, are most thoughtful, helpful and attentive. The breakfasts they provided us, prepared with great care, were delicious, unique, and special. Because of a late booking, my husband and I stayed one night in the... More

I decided I wanted to eat seafood on my birthday. I found The House of 1833 when I searched for establishments which allow dogs in Mystic. We were so happy to find this gem. Evan and Robert made us feel comfortable and at home immediately. We stayed in the Dog Friendly Peach Room Suite with Jacuzzi. It was clean, comfortable,... More

We were referred to the House of 1833 by my work colleague, who has stayed here many times before. The moment I spoke with the proprietors I knew we chose well. The House itself is situated just 10 minutes from Mystic Seaport but don't rush out as the home inside has incredible history in each room while the garden outside... More

i cannot say enough about the hospitality and personal attention to detail that the innkeepers Evan and Robert have given us. Our 37th anniversary included a two night stay in the House of 1833, and the overall experience was nothing short of exceptional. The house was, in fact, built in 1833 and has both the charm and the challenge of... More

This place is a great escape from reality. The living room, parlor and hallways feature 19th and early 20th century memorabilia. The rooms are similar. Ours had a private cupola. Breakfasts take about an hour, partly because Boston Globe and New York Times are tempting but also because the offerings are unusual, cooked to order and ample. There's a beautiful... More

This was a fun, funky, eclectic place to stay. Location was great-close to all Mystic things and Foxwoods. Breakfast cooked by Robert was fantastic both mornings we were there. Even was a fountain of information. He knows all there is to know about attractions, restaurants, and directions. Both owners were warm and welcoming. The house was filled with interesting antiques, clocks,... More

The caretakers are very hospitable. The house if overstuffed with interesting things to look at: antiques -- both original to the house and many others. The magazine collection alone can keep you indoors. Our room, The peach room on the first floor was fantastic. The antique Chinese carved bed was grand (requiring a step stool) and cozy (with a carved... More

My girlfriend and I stayed at The House of 1833 for Valentine's weekend and could not have been more comfortable. This place is filled with history and old time charm and Evan and Robert made us feel very welcomed. While the house may have been built in 1833, the "Oak Room" was clean, comfortable and updated with modern amenities which... More
