Built in 1833 (surprise!), this home is filled with period pieces and details. I could have spent a week looking at the paintings, posters, and objects and still not exhaust this wonderful collection, many from Robert's own family. But this is not just a period piece. All amenities are available, and the hosts are eager to accommodate guests. We're a... More

A lovely and unique B and B full of charm, warmth, and history. Evan could have not been friendlier and nicer. The grounds and rooms are lovely and everything about this home is very special. Robert knows how to cook and we REALLY enjoyed his breakfasts. My teenage son was hesitant on staying at a B and B and could... More

A last minute decision to get away with the missus during a projected few days of perfect weather led me to consider House of 1833 on what appears to be the border of Old Mystic and Stonington. They had most of what I was looking for for this particular getaway. Proximity to Mystic Seaport. A romantic feel. A king bed.... More

Unique B&B. Over the top Victorian decorated Inn. A bit frayed. If dust and dogs are a problem for you, skip it. Quiet and away from hustle and bustle of downtown. Can ride bikes from Inn to town easily on River Rd. Pool area needs a little tlc but is clean. Had room with cool porch overlooking gardens. Excellent breakfast.

Loved this place! Our hosts were absolutely charming. Made us feel really special. The room was beautiful, huge, romantic, lovely view with private veranda. Large hot tub in the room, complimentary sparking chilled wine for our anniversary. Breakfast! Gorgeous. Romantic, relaxing setting, eating outside under cover, nice music playing, loved the food, and Ethan was such a charming person. We... More

Just returned from a stay at this historic mansion - amazing! First, the wonderful vibe of the house starts with its incredible owners - Evan and Robert. From the moment I called to inquire about making a reservation, Evan was a wealth of helpful information. In person, he is charm personified and incredibly gracious, intelligent and informed. He responded to... More

This 2-story + cupola home is fascinating. It is full of eye and thought catching antique treasures -- furniture, lamps, pictures.... Our hosts, Evan and Robert, are most thoughtful, helpful and attentive. The breakfasts they provided us, prepared with great care, were delicious, unique, and special. Because of a late booking, my husband and I stayed one night in the... More

I decided I wanted to eat seafood on my birthday. I found The House of 1833 when I searched for establishments which allow dogs in Mystic. We were so happy to find this gem. Evan and Robert made us feel comfortable and at home immediately. We stayed in the Dog Friendly Peach Room Suite with Jacuzzi. It was clean, comfortable,... More

We were referred to the House of 1833 by my work colleague, who has stayed here many times before. The moment I spoke with the proprietors I knew we chose well. The House itself is situated just 10 minutes from Mystic Seaport but don't rush out as the home inside has incredible history in each room while the garden outside... More

i cannot say enough about the hospitality and personal attention to detail that the innkeepers Evan and Robert have given us. Our 37th anniversary included a two night stay in the House of 1833, and the overall experience was nothing short of exceptional. The house was, in fact, built in 1833 and has both the charm and the challenge of... More
