Detailed Reviews
I chose The Fitch House as a weekend getaway for my wife's birthday. It was absolutely a great stay and I highly recommend both the place and the owners, Mia and Glen. It was a fantastic stay. The house is beautifully appointed in period decor, with quiet reading areas, tables to play games or do puzzles, and a beautiful sunroom built as a yoga studio. There is a bistro setup in the corner of the lawn in a shady spot, and the breakfast is served on the patio with beautiful views of the grounds. We saw two baby squirrels that kept checking on us in a nearby tree. Mia and Glen are both very friendly and Mia was extremely helpful with dining recommendations. There are trails that leave right from the back of the property, and lots of local places to explore. Diana's Pool was a really cool spot to take a dip, and the flea market at the drive in on Sunday was fun too. The breakfasts were amazing and really crafted with love. French press coffee, greek yogurt, late season berries and peaches from their own property with a drizzle of local honey. Then, foraged chicken of the woods mushroom, a roasted red pepper and herb quiche, smoked salmon, and cheddar scallion biscuits. (That was all one breakfast) Definitely recommend this hidden gem!

We were so happy we found Fitch House online and were able to book a two-night stay. The historic home is beautiful inside and out and Mia is a responsive, thoughtful and detailed host. She asked if we had any food allergies or preferences and I sent a list of things we did and didn't eat. I thought she would just pick a couple of things to work with but she prepared a breakfast for us that was beyond amazing and hit everything on the list I'd sent. The rooms were very comfortable and had everything we needed during our stay. We truly look forward to coming back for another stay (hopefully longer next time) and highly recommend The Fitch House to anyone visiting the area.

+1
The Fitch House is a beautiful BnB. Mia takes great care of her guests. Her attention to detail makes for an amazing experience. The home is like stepping back in time and extremely well maintained. I would highly recommend staying here. I travel a lot for work and I always book this BnB when I am in the area. Breakfast is mouth watering and she accommodates for allergies. Lots of outdoor activities nearby as well.

Very polite owner, beautiful house. Breakfast was good! Did not sleep very well-the mattress was very springy and dug into my back, woke up with bruises. It was pretty pricey too, ended up paying over a $1000 for four nights.

While visiting UCONN and needing only one night, I decided to try a B&B instead of the Best Western or the Nathan Hale Inn. I discovered the Fitch House and have to say why didn't I try this before!! This place is simply outstanding. The "bang for the buck" is probably the best I have had in a long time. The rooms were extremely clean and fresh. Staying at the Fitch House was like staying in a place from many decades ago but with current amenities. The history of the building dating back to the 1830's is very interesting. Letters from FDR, Harry Truman and General MacArthur to the owner's parents and family members are framed and line the upstairs hallway. The colonial and greek inspired interior decorations of the various rooms is fascinating. As far as the the accommodations, the Fitch Room was spacious, clean, nicely appointed. The bed was firm and comfortable. The bathroom was 1940'seque yet well maintained. The shower was a little small, but the water pressure was good and the water hot. Breakfast exceeded expectations. Omelette, sausage, baked pear, oj, coffee, homemade blueberry muffin was all fresh and plenty. I will no doubtedly be returning here for my future trips to this area.

I decided a little to late to book accommodation for our trip to visit the Brimfield Antique Fair in Mass. and was forced to look a little further afield but this was worth it. At night, the drive was about 40 to 45 min. This elegant, historic home is full of charm and interest with it's hospitable hosts, Kay and Tony Holt to help make you feel welcome. A lovely, well established garden would be a sight to see in June with its beds of 100 year old peony crowns. We just missed it. If you appreciate quality antiques, each room is filled with history.
When searching TA for Brimfield this slipped under the radar but take note, fellow antique hunters!

I found Fitch House online and booked it for a couple of days while my daughter attended her freshman orientation at UConn. When I arrived, Kay gave me tour of the house and told me its history. The rooms and grounds are beautiful and the campus is close by. This is a very well run B and B, with snacks and soft drinks available in the afternoon and evening. The rooms are large, with the largest being the Golding Room. The air conditioner is in the dressing room of the Golding Room and has medium impact in cooling the sleeping area. The dressing room was quite cold when entering it though.
Breakfast was served in a large solarium facing the garden. The selection was plentiful and its presentation beautiful; Tony who is known for his eggs. There is Wi-fi available, and small televisions in each bedroom. I would highly recommend this place.

The Fitch House Is without doubt a rarity among B&B's It is an historic jewel of a house dating from 1836 with later additions. The house is filled with period furnishings and many interesting pieces. The rooms themselves (2, 3 with family) are extremely comfortable and make for an intimate stay. The hosts, Kay and Tony are a delight splitting up the day and responsibilities admirably, while providing the guests with a warm and friendly atmosphere that adds immeasurably to the warmth and charm of the House. The breakfasts, prepared by Tony, look as if they are out of Gourmet Magazine (they taste it as well) and are served in a room awash in sunlight. The rates are extremely reasonable. When in the Mansfield area, this is a must.

After reading the reviews here, we booked the Fitch room for a May weekend. This B&B is a polished jewel encased in charm and history. The place was very clean, the bed comfortable & the breakfast superb with fresh fruit, eggs, sausage, juice, coffee & range of teas from Earl Gray to raspberry or mint served in a bright sunny room. There were fresh flowers in both the room & at the breakfast table & the grounds outside were fabulous! The hosts Kay & Tony were gracious, welcoming and full of intersting stories about the house history. I agree with another reviewer the shower on on the small side but clean & the water hot with good pressure. Also the television was small but we were so busy admiring the house and furnishings that it was never turned on (Cable channels according to the card on the table with SyFy, Animal Planet, ect.). Internet access was also provided. I don't know why anyone would stay anywhere else. Highly recommended.
