Soednam Zingkha is an immaculately restored traditional farm house nestled in the village of Hatey that combines heritage with modern comfort. Customary paintings, earthen walls, and ancient timbers More complement the comfortable bedding, heated rooms, and modern bathrooms to create an unforgettable atmosphere for all our guests. Situated on two acres of land, the lodge boasts ten guest rooms, a reception area, a fully equipped kitchen, a dining area, and a lounge. Hand-painted murals adorn the walls, and there is an exquisite Choesham (alter room) available for guests who wish to meditate or makeofferings. Soednam Zingkha Heritage Lodge offers an authentic and traditional taste of Bhutan with the conveniences of a modernhotel. Our lodge is located in a quiet, established village in the upper Haa Valley. The 60 or so households that make up the village of Hatey are made from rammed earth and wood and built in the traditional Bhutanese style. The hamlet is nestled high in the valley amidst the wheat and barley fields of small family farms. Cattle, horses, and the occasional yak graze the slopes amongst native flora and verdant evergreen forests. It is a quiet, peaceful place where you can experience a centuries-old way of life in authentic and beautiful surroundings. Whether on foot or on horseback, the village of Hatey has many hidden charms that reveal themselves to the interested traveler. Localguides are readily available for tours to any place of interest in the valley. Guests have a wide variety of outdoor activities to choose from. Our lodge opens onto the narrow streets and pathways of the hamlet, and a leisurely walk around Hatey can easily fill an afternoon. For the more adventurous, a trek to one of our local monasteries will take guests across mountain streams, through pine forests, and up into the surrounding mountains. Multi-day treks lead visitors into high mountain pastures filled with glacial lakes and magnificent views of the rugged mountains that separate the Haa Valley from Tibet. Count on the experienced local guides at Soednam Zingkha to arrange a hike, horse ride, or longer trek into the mountains. Whether it is an afternoon stroll through the village or a strenuous journey to the many alpine lakes in the mountains around Haa, Soednam Zingkha can ensure your adventure is one to remember. At the end of a day’s journey, the Soednam Zingkha guest house is there to welcome travelers with warmth and hospitality. Whether it’s sipping the local ara, soaking in a hot stone bath, or sitting by an outdoor bonfire, guests can relax and enjoy the local culture from the comfort of the guest house grounds. Less
