We came in late the night we were staying here and expected (we'd called to let him know) a note on the door, but he was there to meet us. Our rooms were large and so was the attached bathroom. Breakfast the next morning was lovely, and Bruce was nice enough to tell us the history of the house and... More

My daughter and I stayed at the Mansion Inn on a recent visit to Connecticut. We needed to be in downtown Hartford for most of our trip and, since we prefer to stay in B&Bs whenever possible, decided to try the Mansion Inn. We really liked this property. It was quite convenient to Hartford--around 15 minutes at the approach to... More

I stayed at The Mansion Inn Bed and Breakfast November 27-29, 2015. This B&B is located in a very cute town with lots of history and the ability to jump on the highway and travel to other historic places or cities in the area. The Mansion Inn's Innkeeper Bruce is unique, in a good way, I got along with him... More

Truly quaint in a good way. Wonderful rooms with nooks and crannies, great bed, fab breakfasts presided over by the innkeeper and master chef, Bruce. It is in the middle of an historic center, the site of a large silk mill in the 19th and 20th centuries. You can visit the old school house from 1751 and the original homestead... More

We were cordially greeted and given a short tour of the house. Being a Certified Residential Designer I could appreciate the house and it's period architecture. The interior detailing was well maintained. The Inn is furnished with period antiques. The wood floors creak appropriately as do the stairs. For me, this lent a more authentic experience. Our room, The Tulip... More

My husband and I had a lovely stay at this B&B. The owner showed so much kindness to us and to our daughter who came to visit with us while we were there. I checked out the other rooms and all are so inviting. The designs of the rooms and trim and wallpapers about just have to be seen to... More

My wife and I stayed here for one night as we were touring New England, and we had a great stay. I can see how Bruce's manner and sense of humor might catch a wound-up guest off guard, but we found him welcoming, pleasant, and genuinely keen to make sure we had a comfortable stay. We really appreciated his effort... More

I waited too long to book a hotel from the block of rooms for a cheer competition and they sold out. In an effort to be creative I looked up bed and breakfast in Manchester and found this jewel. Less than 10 minutes from Hartford, for less than a chain hotel, my daughter and I luxuriated in a true mansion... More

Despite the very severe weather, the innkeeper welcomed us and accommodated our every request. He even accepted a vague request for one sure and a second less sure stay. We stayed both nights. Breakfast included delicious local maple syrup (authentic and, as New England folks know, that makes ALL the difference). Our stay was in the midst of winter weather... More

The Mansion Inn was a really interesting place to stay. I was in town for a conference and my grandmother joined me. The location of the Mansion Inn was great - close to everything we needed. The facilities were clean, cozy, & unique. The breakfast was delicious. A big downside to our stay was the host - Bruce. At times,... More

“Any room looks fine. We had the Lilac Room. It has lovely views from all windows. The Inn was part of a family "estate" near-by the silk manufacturing building of the Cheney family, who had been in Manchester since the first grist-mill run by the family in the late 18th century.”
