We went there for the nature, but at this price-tag you also expect first class service. The lodge is in the land belonging to the Iberá Conservation Project, probably one of the best conservation initiatives in the world. It was started by the late Douglas Tompkinson. We were lucky enough that him and his wife were actually there during our... More

Dear Guests, We are sorry we couldn´t fulfill your expectations. People usually highlights the staff, its warmth and helfulness and we are really surprised you have felt so different. Unfortunately, some of them still remember your mistreatment, from demanding an upgrade on arrival, to the bad time during the check out, when you got angry because not being notified of... More

My husband (an evolutionary biologist/ecologist/photographer) was in Heaven with all the flora and fauna in the area. Knowing about the problems in the Florida Everglades, it was a real treat to see what a conservationist like Tompkins could do. Unfortunately he died less than a week after our stay and we hope that his plans for the wetlands will continue... More

The Estancia is tucked away between Mercedes and the Gaucho town of Carlos Pelligrini. The benefit is that you get to see real gauchos, amazing nature and true Argentinian hospitality. It is impeccably maintained and the meals served are freshly prepared using ingredients from the organic garden. If you are a fan of the documentary 180 South, it’s worth noting... More

Getting there took some effort. But, as we were laying poolside below tens of screaming parrots, watching herds of ñandú and capybara grazing in the vast lawns and the cayman & bird-filled Esteros beyond, we soon realized this place was probably one of our favourites in Argentina

In the middle of solitary marshlands teeming with fauna and flora, but spoiled by luxury one didn´t expect, along with heartwarming friendliness of the staff, made our stay unforgettable. The guides were superb and there was a wide variation of activities from hikes, boat rides and horseback riding. The food was good, adapted to dietary requests.

The physical and philosophical setting of this luxury ‘safari’ lodge could not be finer. Within South America’s second and one of the world's most important wetlands, the Esteros del Iberá, and part of the save-the-world-wildlands brainchild of a generous person with an earth-vision and a big heart — Douglas Tompkins — the hosteria (lodge) and grounds are truly first class.... incredible commitment by the owner, Tompkins, to preserve the wetlands and its flora and fauna---great service and food---the guide Domingo was terrific---we stayed in one of the cottages which was wonderful---suggest you take their plane to this remote location---makes us want to next go to Monte Leon

We have travelled extensively throughout the world but our walks and boat ride from Rincon have rarely been bettered. Oma's driving skills were exceptional on the wet and slippery journeys in and out and Mingo was an exceptional guide.
