Hotel's Favorite
We stayed here for 2 nights of our 3 week New England trip and it was my favorite place we stayed. The rate was average (even a bit less) than all the other places we stayed and the accommodations and extras were way above the rest. We stayed in a hot tub suite. It was large, comfortable and beautifully decorated. The bed was so nice. The front desk staff was so kind and helpful. The housekeeping staff worked so hard and did so many little things above and beyond the call of duty. The breakfast was amazing. It is unheard of to have an omelette bar and eggs made to order in a free breakfast. There were amazing pancakes and baked goods and fresh fruit. The breakfast staff did a great job meeting everyone’s needs. The welcome cookies and snack bar with cookies and wine was great. The fire pits in the evening were a nice touch and a nice way to enjoy the surrounding countryside. We will definitely be back!

We spent two midweek nights here. This is a luxury 2-story country inn on lovely, expansive acreage about a 5 minute drive from Litchfield's main commercial area (including all of the higher rated restaurants). It's a boutique hotel---no full service restaurant or bar. No pool, and just a basic fitness room. We had a king room on the second floor. The room was very large, with a comfortable bed, nice sofa and two large TV's. However, the bathroom was pretty small given the overall size of the bedroom. The room had three windows, so was bright and airy. The inn has plenty of free parking right outside. Breakfast is included with the room. It's serve-yourself in a large dining room. There's an excellent selection, and they will make you waffles, any kinds of eggs, etc. So it's much better than what you get in the chain hotels. There were two issues which impacted our rating. On the first morning, there was a problem with the master water heater, and we had no hot water in the shower, etc. (just tepid). This was fixed quickly, however. The other issue is that the exterior floodlight outside our window was flashing all the time, and was annoying even with the window shades down. I complained the first morning, but it had not been fixed by our second night. Not sure why they didn't follow up on the same day as my complaint. Overall, a nice stay---good spot for enjoying the beautiful Litchfield area.

We stayed 2 nights in 2 different bespoke rooms. This is a terrific property. It is located conveniently to shops and restaurants of Litchfield ( though not walkable). It’s a great starting point for exploring the surrounding countryside and charming towns nearby. The common areas include a lovely large sitting area as well as a more rustic gathering area stocked with soda pop, snacks and cookies. Great for playing board games! Our first night was in the bridal suite which is large and spacious. Our second night was in the cloud nine suite which was equally roomy. I thought bed in cloud 9 suite was a bit more comfortable. Place was super clean and fresh with nice towels and bedding. Staff were friendly and helpful(especially night shift). Breakfast was free and a level above the usual hotel freebie though one morning they were short staffed and had to wait for omelets. Overall though this is a terrific property especially for the price!

Enjoyed with my husband a 2 days and nights at this lovely Inn. We booked the GARDEN room, with a canopy bed, natural stone flooring, and a soaking tub. The bed was very comfortable and allowed us the best sleep. The special complimentary touches, such as fresh baked cookies, hot coffee, hot tea, and hot chocolate to warm your tummy. Also beautiful grounds full of color. Lit fire pits and lit fireplaces all made this an ideal romantic vacation. Thank you, too all the amazing staff, especially Chantel. Can't wait to visit again, maybe we will stay even longer next time! PS: The breakfast omelets were amazing!!

Fantastic stay over the weekend for my friend's wedding. The staff from the moment we checked in until check out were attentive and polite. The property is absolutely stunning. I could not stop staring at the chandelier arrangement throughout my stay. Can't recommend this property enough to anyone looking to host an event or coming for a fall stay in the area. Will be back to stay at the hotel with my girlfriends very soon!

The grounds, lobby, and common spaces are beautiful. The hotel provides cookies at check in, which was nice. They also have snacks, including chips, granola bars, sodas, water, tea, and coffee. Given how many hotels now charge for the water in the room and breakfast each morning, it was nice to have those provided. We only stayed one night on our way north to Maine, but had the complimentary breakfast the morning of our departure. I was impressed with the large selection of items, including pastries, made to order eggs and omelettes, sausage, pancakes, juices, several types of milk and creamers, etc. Again, so many hotels are charging for a mediocre breakfast, but that wasn’t the case here. Some reviewers have commented on the price, which was steep, but also comparable with breakfast and snacks included. Many reviewers have commented on the smells in the hallways and lobby. It seems like they have some sort of air fresheners plugged in to the outlets. I enjoyed the smell, but it could be off-putting to those sensitive to smells, as it was quite strong. The hallways were fairly warm (they were also undergoing a heat wave), and I found the room to be a bit warm as well, even with the air conditioning running, and given that we are from PA, we are used to heat and humidity, but the temps in the room weren’t comfortable. With it being an older hotel/structure, this can be somewhat understandable. The staff were very welcoming; however, we did receive a call from the front desk just before we were about to check out stating that there was a noise complaint regarding our room. The room below us was traveling with a baby, and the front desk staff person stated that there was a lot of noise early in the morning that woke up the baby. Now, we were on the second (highest) floor, so I have no idea what we sounded like walking around. We were up early (we are early risers!) at 6 AM, and both my husband and I showered. I accidentally dropped the diffuser from my hair dryer on the hard floor outside the bathroom, so perhaps this woke their baby, and having traveled with small children many times, I can understand that frustration, but also something kind of expected when traveling. Like I said, the front desk person was very polite about it all, but I also felt like at that point we couldn’t even move around the room without the people below us complaining, as we were only moving about the room as normal. All that being said, I would recommend this hotel for couples. We were traveling with our two boys (5 and 8) who are well behaved, and that we keep in check while out in public places, including in hotel rooms (we will instantly address running, jumping, etc, because, let’s be honest, they’re kids). We have traveled extensively as a couple and with our kids, and have never had a complaint about noise, so getting this complaint was not only embarrassing, but made us feel a bit unwelcome.

The overall experience was awesome. The rooms were very clean and obviously well kept. We loved the multiple library nooks and the ample areas to relax inside and outside beyond our room. The garden was very cute and there are Adirondack chairs scattered throughout the property available for use. The firepits were very enjoyable and the breakfast selection was great, with excellent freshly-cooked omelettes available. Fresh cold water and tea were available 24/7. It was a great getaway with plenty of recommendations of things to do in the area.

Excellent Inn! Our stay was wonderful. The staff was friendly and professional. Our room was beautifully decorated and very large (so was the bathroom). Bed linens were top quality. Breakfast food was extensive from made-to-order omelets to danishes to cereal, etc. Gorgeous setting and outdoor space with a garden, firepit and relaxing chairs. Short drive into town. Great places to visit while here are Kent Falls State Park (beautiful waterfall with easy hike), White Memorial Conservation area, and Litchfield Distillery. West Street Grill was so delicious!

Our weekend stay at the Litchfield Inn could not have been better. Staff is extremely friendly and professional. Guest rooms & public spaces were extremely neat, tidy, & very clean. We especially loved the availability of bottled water in the common area and guest rooms daily & the lovely ladies who made eggs/omelets in the mornings. The breakfast spread is superb with everything anyone could want. Overall, a perfect stay. I strongly recommend to anyone wanting a clean and conveniently located Inn, close to the heart of Litchfield.
