The grounds, lobby, and common spaces are beautiful. The hotel provides cookies at check in, which was nice. They also have snacks, including chips, granola bars, sodas, water, tea, and coffee. Given how many hotels now charge for the water in the room and breakfast each morning, it was nice to have those provided. We only stayed one night on our way north to Maine, but had the complimentary breakfast the morning of our departure. I was impressed with the large selection of items, including pastries, made to order eggs and omelettes, sausage, pancakes, juices, several types of milk and creamers, etc. Again, so many hotels are charging for a mediocre breakfast, but that wasn’t the case here. Some reviewers have commented on the price, which was steep, but also comparable with breakfast and snacks included. Many reviewers have commented on the smells in the hallways and lobby. It seems like they have some sort of air fresheners plugged in to the outlets. I enjoyed the smell, but it could be off-putting to those sensitive to smells, as it was quite strong. The hallways were fairly warm (they were also undergoing a heat wave), and I found the room to be a bit warm as well, even with the air conditioning running, and given that we are from PA, we are used to heat and humidity, but the temps in the room weren’t comfortable. With it being an older hotel/structure, this can be somewhat understandable. The staff were very welcoming; however, we did receive a call from the front desk just before we were about to check out stating that there was a noise complaint regarding our room. The room below us was traveling with a baby, and the front desk staff person stated that there was a lot of noise early in the morning that woke up the baby. Now, we were on the second (highest) floor, so I have no idea what we sounded like walking around. We were up early (we are early risers!) at 6 AM, and both my husband and I showered. I accidentally dropped the diffuser from my hair dryer on the hard floor outside the bathroom, so perhaps this woke their baby, and having traveled with small children many times, I can understand that frustration, but also something kind of expected when traveling. Like I said, the front desk person was very polite about it all, but I also felt like at that point we couldn’t even move around the room without the people below us complaining, as we were only moving about the room as normal. All that being said, I would recommend this hotel for couples. We were traveling with our two boys (5 and 8) who are well behaved, and that we keep in check while out in public places, including in hotel rooms (we will instantly address running, jumping, etc, because, let’s be honest, they’re kids). We have traveled extensively as a couple and with our kids, and have never had a complaint about noise, so getting this complaint was not only embarrassing, but made us feel a bit unwelcome.…
