I've never had an experience like this. I felt like I was in Get Out - super sketchy vibe. I booked a night as part of me and my wife's anniversary weekend and regret it immensely. The owners of this place are condescending, awkward, and rude. I don't understand the clientele that they are looking for but don't go here if you plan on speaking, watching TV, or being seen in general. We arrived at 6pm to our 2nd floor room. The blinds were drawn and there was no air flow -- very hot and stuffy, but good enough in general. We turned on the AC and ordered a pizza. My wife took a shower and I unpacked our things. At 6:30 the pizza arrived and my wife and I ate dinner on our 2nd floor patio with a bottle of nice wine. At 6:44 I received a text from the owners to mention that there was a room below us with a lovely older couple, so that if we could keep the noise levels down everyone would be so appreciative. As my wife and I were only having a romantic dinner on our personal patio while listening to Dean Martin on my phone at half volume -- I didn't think anything of it. Fast forward to 8 o'clock -- me and my wife are laying in bed talking to one another. No TV. No music. Literally lying there talking. There's a knock at our door and I go down and see a man that I had never met before. He doesn't introduce himself and only asks if I got the text earlier?. I say yes and he goes on to explain that we need to lower our voices and keep the noise down. The sun hasn't even set at this point, but I apologize and explained that me and my wife were only laying in bed talking. I was then told that everyone can hear your conversations everywhere and that maybe if I turned the AC off and closed the windows -- that then we wouldn't have to be so loud to hear one another. I explained that we had no idea the windows were opened (since the owners opened them and closed the blinds before we got there) and that we'd do our best -- then closed the door. EVERYONE CAN HEAR US EVERYWHERE? Besides the fact that they have signs saying quiet hours are at 10pm -- I don't pay over $200 to be talked down to like a child while getting whined at for talking to my wife in bed on our anniversary. Apparently the private patios and spaces to sit outside aren't meant for anyone unless you're reading a book. Windows need to remain close if you plan to speak. There are unwritten rules everywhere with no clear indication on what you are allowed to do or how you are supposed to act. Everywhere you go feels very awkward and uncomfortable and drives home the feeling that you need to be whisper.

We’ve been visiting Abbey’s for 5 years now and I think we will be going back until we can’t drive anymore! This inn lets us relax in a gorgeous setting with wonderfully unique rooms, a great breakfast, a terrific pergola with a bbq grill, fire pit and hammocks. We’ve stayed in 4 out f the 7 rooms. Some have fireplaces, some have a jetted tub. One of them has both. All have either a patio or terrace. Erika is always ready with suggestions for local activities, great restaurants and always a nice chat. We always feel refreshed after a visit to this inn.

Just returned from a two-night stay (in The Mystic Room) a d everything was a lovely as depicted/advertised. With lots of delightful surprises to discover on the grounds. The Inn is well-appointed and the grounds well-maintained--the attention to detail did not go unnoticed or unappreciated! Erika and Peter are gracious and helpful hosts who clearly take great pride in delivering first class hospitality to their guests. (Made to order breakfasts were so delicious!) Only regret was we could not stay longer!

We certainly hope you'll return again SoozSPJ for a longer stay. Thank you for noticing our attention to detail. We really do try very hard to get things right and the knowledge that comes with being in the business for so long certainly helps. Please tell your friends and family about us, as we'd love to host them. Best wishes, Erika and Peter

We had a wonderful stay at this B&B. Very relaxing, quiet place - yet close to the very interesting Pequot museum and the ocean. Very nice room with a balcony. The bed was very comfortable and an extra bed for our little daughter. (If it had darker/thicker curtains to sleep a bit longer in the morning, it would be even more perfect.) Thank you very much! :-)

Thank you for sharing your experience. We completely agree about the room needing different window treatments to lock out the morning light and have a new set of roman blinds on hand to install. The room has been so booked these last couple weeks since the blinds arrived, there hasn't been enough time available to get in there and put them up. We will get them up asap though, and hopefully this week! So rest assured, if you come back this way, the room will be even more perfect!
