The Interlaken Inn is lovely. Nestled in the Connecticut countryside, this Inn provides the perfect getaway for city-dwellers who need a a break from the hustle and bustle of the urban grind. I attended a wedding in July, which took place at the lake directly across the road from the Inn. The lakeside nuptials were as idyllic as they were romantic; the sunlight shimmerd the waters and a gentle breeze cooled the July heat. It was stunning. In addition to this rustic perfection, the staff at the Inn were extremely friendly and accommodating. They were eager to help guests with all their needs, and had menus and car service phone numbers at the ready. If you're looking for somewhere to stay in the Connecticut countryside, look no further. The Interlaken Inn is the place!

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a complimentary review! I am so happy you enjoyed your time here and shared your wonderful experience at Interlaken with others. We had some pretty amazing weddings this July at the lakefront and I'm so glad you were able to take all of the beauty in. We will agree that our location is the perfect spot in the Connecticut countryside and in the Fall it is just breathtaking. We hope you have another visit planned soon to see all the colors. Thank you once again for posting!

The hallways were dirty. The rooms smelled. It took1o minutes of the A/C to get the smell out. Also, they may have the noisiest A/C units ever made. Toilets ran all night unless you took off the top of the tank and pushed the flopper down. Our sliding door would not lock. Our parent's would not open. Thern interior handrails were sticky. The handrails for the "handicapped" ramp gave you splinters. Also, the ramps were made out of cobblestone that was very uneven and difficult for my father with his cane. The bar was closed by 9:00pm on Friday! Housekeeping did not make up the rooms. We had to take what we needed from the maid's cart - there was no maid around. For the price, it sucked!

Thank you so much for taking the time to post a review. I wish I had a chance to speak to you to save us both the time. The comments that you have posted are not entirely accurate. Depending upon the time you checked in, yes, you may encounter housekeepers bustling to clean rooms but this does not go on into the evening. I'm sorry that impacted your stay. The locks on the sliding guestroom doors are safety bars located at the middle of the door. When I went into the room you stayed in the safety bar was intact. When I went into your Father's room it was also intact. I am not sure why you had difficulty using these doors but I certainly could have helped you figure it out so you did not feel it necessary to write about it. The rates we charge are not the rates of a standard hotel Guestroom. Interlaken has a lot of resort amenities and people choose our property to take part in those amenities. Tennis and pickle ball courts, kayaking and canoeing, lakefront swimming, basketball, outdoor heated pool, 40 acres of grounds to walk through the gardens. All of these add to the pleasure of a Guests' stay and the maintenance of those items are all included in the rate. Unlike some resorts that charge up to an additional $75 "Resort Fee" for water and a newspaper, there are no additional charges for these activities. Time and time again I get this confusion from Guests that are just stopping by and really just want a hotel and not necessarily the Interlaken. I'm sorry you did not find value with all that we have to offer but I hope responding to your comments will help others to see they should choose the right lodging to satisfy their needs. If you take part in all that Interlaken has to offer I'm quite sure you would find tremendous value in our pricing structure. Coming soon is our screening room, complimentary to all Guests, as well as a state of the art fitness room with community classes. Both of these new activities will be in place by November 1st or possibly earlier. Thank you again for taking the time to post.

Had good experience at Interlaken a few years ago. Has it changed for the worst. Upon arrival our key would not open the door. Sent to 2nd room which had not been cleaned yet. On to 3rd where sink was clogged & no soap. Maintenance cleared sink (we think) & it was soon clogged again. Used vending machine for coke; took $ but no coke. Staff gave us 2 from dining room +4 back. Used pool at 3 pm but all towels were in used bin. At family birthday dinner 8/16,food was very slow to arrive ; one guest received his after everyone else almost finished. Guests had to move / remove plates to make room for main course. Staff generally friendly. Will not return for a long time

Thank you so much for choosing to leave a review on Tripadvisor. I do agree with you - it's the details and the small things that really make a stay enjoyable. I know you understand that many properties are dealing with the severe labor crunches across this country. I also know that my staff is working very hard to achieve a balance in all areas of service. Dining room personnel are helping to clean Guestrooms, Administrative staff are serving buffets and handling dishes in the kitchen - I am so sorry this was not enough to make your visit more pleasurable. Many restaurants have chosen to do the grab and go and not to offer any service at all. We have not gone down that route yet but each day it gets increasingly more difficult to serve our Guests the way we would like to and have done so in the past. Thank you again for sharing your comments as it does help to gain some insight into our direction. We can also reflect on how it will be possible to serve Guests in these new Covid times.

This was our second annual week-long visit to the private Waterfront cabin and once again it was just perfect. We canoed, swam and fished in the private lakefront that is right outside our door. We loved our screened-in porch swings after our evening campfires. One night we did take out from Morgan’s – the Fried Chicken dinner is bountiful and sooo good! The other nights we just cooked on the charcoal grill. We went into town a couple of times (the area is so scenic and quaint) but we really spent most of our time right at the cabin. We did, however, head to the main property and swam in the pool and that was refreshing too. The staff we encountered were super friendly. We already reserved our week for next summer! A special thank you to Jodie at the front desk. She was so pleasant and helpful at check in.

Wow, thank you for your amazing review! I'm so happy you chose to stay with us and once again had precious quality time with your family. That is what getting away is all about and the waterfront cabin is so conducive for that. Jodie will love your acknowlodgment of her kindness to you and the entire staff looks forward to your return again next summer. Thank you so much for taking the time to post such a great review!

I am always so appreciative when hotels are dog friendly, that I tend to overlook a lot of issues. That’s what this hotel is hoping for with their dog friendly rooms. For the price, I was expecting much more than the room we got— barely above a motel level. The sheets on the pullout for my daughter were filthy and unchanged from previous guests (and the cushions so saggy that you would never want to sit on it otherwise), the chairs outside were so stained from so many old dead bugs that no one would sit on them, and the whole room was musty and damp the entire time, no matter what we did. It smelled of mold and aggravated my asthma, clearly they need to overhaul the ventilation in that building. The “renovated” bathroom was clearly not new from the mold and mildew on the shower door. We never saw a single person working anywhere in 4 days, after we checked in. The hotel has very few amenities that would make it a resort over a hotel, no place to get a snack or quick coffee in the morning, so you have to either drive somewhere or make a bad room coffee. The only redeeming factor for me was the lake, which was truly beautiful. We really enjoyed canoeing and kayaking, and the pool was nice enough. We had one dinner in the restaurant the first night which was fine but unmemorable, but it’s got a limited menu and not open every night so we didn’t go back. Overall, maybe the other rooms are nicer, but I wouldn’t recommend it or go back.

Thanks very much for taking the time to write a review. I certainly disagree with having limited on-property resort amenities – complimentary canoes and kayaks, lakefront and pool swimming, basketball, pickle ball, tennis, library, indoor game room are not typical of any hotel. I do agree with you that it is difficult to offer pet accommodations and an outside building away from all other Guests certainly taxes our ability to offer the same accommodations of the other seven buildings on property. The air conditioning and heating system is very adequate as long as the doors are kept closed but with the high ceilings it can be very difficult for the system to pull the humidity out of the air on certain days of the year. Most of June and early July have certainly had a very warm and humid climate and I’m so sorry that you had to experience that climate. Many days of the year our repeat pet followers love the Woodside house but your feedback has certainly opened up discussions on how to make these pet accommodations more desirable and user friendly. I appreciate your comments and I’d love to be able to reach out and speak to you directly; however, your anonymous critique and response so far past your visit is making it very difficult to contact you. I hope you read this and get the chance to call the property and speak to me directly.

We spent one night at the Interlaken Inn. It was not uncomfortable but did not offer any particularly appealing aspects. The photo on the website is rather misleading. It does not offer a lake view as one would think it might from the website photo. The first thing we encountered in our room was a bedside lamp that did not work. We did walk up to the reception to report it but they did not repair it during our stay. Overall, we felt that the rate was rather high for the accommodation.

Thank you so much for taking the time to review Interlaken. Certainly a 3 star is not what our staff strives for but I also understand it would also be difficult for you to appreciate all that Interlaken has to offer in just a one night stay. Often times Guests confuse us with a standard hotel where the room rate pays for just the room but in Interlaken's case you get so much more. A private lakefront, over 30 garden beds for strolling, 40 acres of wonderful rolling grass where people are not on top of a parking lot. Pickle ball courts, basketball courts, tennis courts, spa activities, and an outdoor heated pool. With over 7 varied accommodations to choose from, on-site restaurant and bar and coming soon our new screening room to watch movies. As I'm writing this I just left a Couple in the lobby that appreciated just being able to take a stroll down to the lake in the evening. I think most people enjoy the simple carefree character of our property. Thank you very much for taking the time to share your thoughts.

We had our wedding weekend at Interlaken Inn. Great venue ! The staff was exceptional. They were accommodating and are extremely detail oriented. My husband and I stayed in the Penthouse Suite which was amazing. My parents and grandparents stayed in the Basha cottage. Our wedding party stayed in the Sunnyside House. They have a huge wrap around deck, where we all hung out the night before the wedding. Our rehearsal dinner was outside in the garden where we had a farm to table dinner. The food was excellent ! The ceremony on the lake was beautiful! Our wedding was perfection, the staff went above and beyond our expectations !

Thank you so much for your wonderful review! I appreciate you taking the time to let others know about your weekend experience. Interlaken really is a special place and the staff we have assembled over the years are so genuine and personable. Your review will go along way with helping their morale as these are very difficult times for anyone in the service industry. We loved taking care of you and your family! We hope you will all visit again soon and we know we will certainly see you for your one year wedding anniversary. Warmest regards, Kevin

We spent the weekend at a family reunion. We had a total of 50 people ranging in age from 3 months to 75. The resort had something for everybody. The meals for our reunion were buffet style, plentiful and delicious. Plenty of room for the kids to burn off some steam. The weather cooperated and we enjoyed the bonfire on Saturday night. My only suggestion is some of the accommodations are starting to look tired. All in all a very nice reunion and I would return.

I organized a corporate retreat at Interlaken Inn and it far exceeded my expectations. The staff were incredibly friendly and diligent. Everything ran according to schedule. The grounds are gorgeous, the food is fantastic, and the accommodations are lovely. I really couldn't have asked for more. Everyone was so pleased and I definitely want to return on my own. Jodie in particular was a pleasure to work with and made everything so easy for us. 5 stars!!!
