Haven't been here since we were first married and that is 3 grown children and 4 grandchildren later. It is no longer a classic French restaurant but it is a top notch dining experience with a diverse menu. They certainly know how to make a Manhattan! A great place to go when you want to goose it up a bit - even thought goose is not on the menu!
The staff at the copper beach inn, ivoryton, ct were extremely warm and friendly. The inn is in a quintessential New England setting. There is a lovely bar and terrific restaurant on the premises so there’s no need to go to far. Would highly recommend.
A lovely charming place to stay. The rooms and bathrooms were spacious and lovely. Friendly and helpful staff. Dinner was very good and so was the breakfast. It was perfect for our 1 night stay and would definitely stay again if in the area as 1 night was not enough
It is a nice-looking place, although the grounds could be nicer. The heat in our room was not working so they had to bring in space-heaters. The room was very nice though. The restaurant was OK. Not a typical B&B breakfast, more like a regular restaurant. Dinner was pretty good. Close enough to Essex and the Goodspeed Theater in East Haddam. Go to Ivorytown and Essex, but not in the winter, when all the things to do are open.
The entire venue: rooms, dining relaxing , friendly atmosphere were simply superb. Finest quality, in our opinion, was the magnificent, talented, customer oriented, FUN staff at all levels— from custodial staff to the very engaged Innkeeper/Owner. This true team added so much to our experience. Brava/Bravo!
We stayed overnight after a dinner event in nearby Chester, CT. We stayed on the second floor of one of the guest houses, Room 217. The room was very large and the king size mattress was nice and firm. The bathroom had two sinks which is something you don't often see in a hotel. The next morning we enjoyed a delicious omelet for breakfast which was included with our stay.
Exactly 11 miles down the road from Goodspeed Opera House lies The Copper Beech Inn. The name alone is enticing, the room very nice. The back door opened up to a sitting area. The Copper Classic for breakfast was delicious. The only drawback for us was what I will refer to as "the elepant upstairs." Between 2:10 and 2:30 AM someone above us was pacing. Apparently the problem was resolved because I heard a door close and the pacing stopped. Next time we will no doubt request a room upstairs.
Booked Carraige House Rm 219 directly from the Inn's website, about 6 weeks in advance. Our reminder e-mail listed our reservation as Rm 218, a phone call verified the change and that Rm 219 had been "out of commission for over a year". Our second-floor balcony room, lacked balcony use. A sign indicated it was closed for construction; however, no construction was evident, although the balcony did indeed look unsafe. A patio table and chairs situated on a weedy gravel pad was offered as consolation. In-room pod-style coffee was a disappointing offering, as there were 2 tea and 1 decafe coffee pods in the hospitality basket. After asking for regular coffee, we were told it was on back-order, but coffee was available in the Inn after 8am. The room itself echoed the picture on-line; however, furnishings were worn and the A/C was very noisy. The welcome literature in the room (dated 2021) states the innkeepers seek to anticipate your needs and exceed your expectations. Unfortunately, neither of those goals were met. Highpoints were convenient access to a nice table-service breakfast in the Inn, with excellent lattes (non-gratis) overlooking a pretty garden and easy walking distance to the Playhouse and the Blue Hound Cookery & Tavern.…
The Inn is very welcoming and the staff is extremely helpful. Our waiter Kevin was amazingly helpful and accommodating. Every restaurant needs a waiter with Kevin’s professionalism and personality. We all had the whole lobster special. It was absolutely delicious. It included a whole lobster, Potato Salad and Corn on the Cob. Amazing
Chose to stay here on a recent trip to the Goodspeed Opera House. The stay was busy in the restaurant so it took a bit to check in. The rooms were pretty basic. The breakfast the following morning was excellent. A 3 for the room but a 4/5 on the breakfast so a low 4 overall ...
