Went for a weekend "get out of the city" trip and could not have made a better choice. It is a serious drive out into the country but you end up in a beautiful area of the river basin and a lovely, well kept historical inn. We were greeted warmly and welcomed to our room. We stayed in the main... More

We checked in, expecting to stay in an old inn room, which we are usually okay with... except that older rooms can be creaky and can make it hard to charge your phone... The inn is a gorgeous building, though, so we figured it would be nice... we were really excited, though, when we saw that our room was in... More

Overall a lovely experience. However, they emphasize their culinary talents (which were quite excellent) rather than their hosting talents. The deluxe room while while large and lovely, had physical ailments easily fixed with some management attention to detail. Could have been a five star experience. Hope they improve. Now the restaurant, THAT was an amazing five-star experience with top chefs... More

I booked this inn last minute recently and the place was fantastic and very relaxing. The room had a king bed and Jacuzzi spa and was very private with a deck. In the mainhouse they had a nice little bar that was perfect to have a couple drinks. Highly recommend this place!

My husband and I went here on our wedding night. It was such a special room, but the warmth was lacking. We are used service at Rabbit Hill Inn in NH so were expecting at such a fine inn more of the same. We were sorely disappointed!

We stayed for 2 nights with 2 couples. Service was superb from check in to departure. We had dinner, breakfast, and drinks at the bar and everything was great. The staff from top to bottom is very competent and well schooled in what they do. Rooms were nice with typical old inn charm. Sarah handled everything for us with show... More

The Copper Beech Inn is a beautiful inn. We (2 people) only ate there, so can't comment on the rooms. The restaurant is beautiful where you can eat outdoors, in a "sun room" or in a more formal dining room. We ate before a show at the Ivoryton Playhouse and were there around noon. We took the waiter's recommendation for... More

The place was beautiful to see and we had a lovely location of a table in the porch area looking over the garden. The lunch meals were not impressive. I ordered the Chicken tarragon salad on a bun. The bun was cold and the chicken salad was thin. The waiter did not ask if I wanted salad or French fries... More

The Copper Beech has been a fixture of CT fine eating for decades. As with all such institutions, it is sometimes hard to tell when reputations were made and if changes occurred etc. But when I friend and I were meandering around Essex villages [the historic town near the river; Centerbrook, the original farming center of Essex; and Ivoryton, where... We chose to sit in the atrium rather than the outside deck because of the very warm weather. And it turned out to be a pleasant experience. The wait staff was exceptional, the food nicely prepared and the chef accommodated our dietary restrictions...no chorizo in the mussels! We recommend the restaurant for pre theatre dining. The Ivoryton Placehouse is just... More
