The Copper Beech Inn is a beautiful inn. We (2 people) only ate there, so can't comment on the rooms. The restaurant is beautiful where you can eat outdoors, in a "sun room" or in a more formal dining room. We ate before a show at the Ivoryton Playhouse and were there around noon. We took the waiter's recommendation for... More

The place was beautiful to see and we had a lovely location of a table in the porch area looking over the garden. The lunch meals were not impressive. I ordered the Chicken tarragon salad on a bun. The bun was cold and the chicken salad was thin. The waiter did not ask if I wanted salad or French fries... More

The Copper Beech has been a fixture of CT fine eating for decades. As with all such institutions, it is sometimes hard to tell when reputations were made and if changes occurred etc. But when I friend and I were meandering around Essex villages [the historic town near the river; Centerbrook, the original farming center of Essex; and Ivoryton, where... We chose to sit in the atrium rather than the outside deck because of the very warm weather. And it turned out to be a pleasant experience. The wait staff was exceptional, the food nicely prepared and the chef accommodated our dietary restrictions...no chorizo in the mussels! We recommend the restaurant for pre theatre dining. The Ivoryton Placehouse is just... More

My wife and I stayed here to celebrate our anniversary. The inn was clean, quaint with some beautiful decor and ambiance you could only find in a older classic New England inn. The restaurant was delicious and service impeccable. Our waiter was a wine expert which enhanced the experience. Highly recommend Ivoryton theater when visiting. Great shows! Because it is... More

Located just a few minutes drive from the Connecticut shore is the historic Copper Beach Inn. The main building dates back to the late 1800's and houses a restaurant ,bar and a few rooms. There are two other buildings( one was the carriage house and the other a new construction. We stayed in the only room with twin beds in... More

Our room had a comfortable king size bed and a delightful soaking tub. The water didn't get as hot as I would have liked but it was still nice and relaxing. The food was very good. We had breakfast twice (the lemon ricotta hotcakes were delicious as was the frittata.) We had dinner there one night as well that was... More

Wednesday July 19th We were only going to spend one night while visiting friends in the area, they raved about the inn, so we spent about double $$ from what a local motel was charging. Our room # 218 in one of the back buildings on the second floor, STEEP STAIRS, corner room was WOW when you first saw it,... More

We recently became aware that the Copper Beach Inn had changed hands so we stopped by the Oak Room for dinner. Each of the four of us agreed that the food was among the best we have ever eaten. I had Wiener Schnitzel which was the best I have ever eaten. Our friends had Hanger steak and Mussels and we're... More

We stayed in room 321 on the 2nd floor of Comstock House, which is one of the two newer buildings behind the main house. Parking is nearby, but there is no elevator. Our room was spacious and very quiet. The a/c worked well, but was noisy at times. Lighting was just adequate. The king bed was very comfy. Decor was... More
