I grew up in Branford and visit family here. We stayed at the Tower Inn & Suites for 4 nights. It is a nice little Inn. There are no frills, but the room is clean and big and comfortable. It's very close to Downtown Guilford and I would definitely recommend it. Other hotels in the area were charging $300/night and we paid just $100/night. We travel a ton and stay in all sorts of hotels. I would absolutely recommend this hotel for a budget stay. One recommendation I would give the owners is to provide plastic utensils and plates for use and to add guest laundry.

We were wary of staying here due to lack of information on the internet and the fact that it's not a brand-name hotel. However, we didn't have much choice due to sold-out hotels the weekend of a friend's wedding.

But it seems that portions of the hotel are brand new (they built a new section), and the rest of the rooms have been remodeled. In any case, our room was spotless and comfortable, with a microwave and refrigerator and a large bathroom. It's not a five star hotel, but it's a good value compared to other local properties. (Our friends paid more to stay at the Madison Beach Hotel, and our room was a lot nicer!)

I stayed here for two nights over New Years while we were visiting family. The bed, bathroom, and room overall, were fine. The heater/AC unit seemed brand new, worked well, and was quiet. A few caveats to the four stars: I stayed in the front, two story part. There are some single story, motel-style rooms in the back which looked of a different era, and may be in different condition. The hotel was almost empty when I was there. Some people came in on the second night and I got the impression it might have been pretty noisy if it were more populated. There was a flickering light bulb above the full length mirror, which I asked to have changed after the first night. This was not done. With the place virtually empty, I would have thought they could have gotten around to it.

I arrived at the inn at 2:30 and checked in. When I went into my room, it hadn't been cleaned. I spoke to the guy at the front desk and he said "oh, well your check-in time is 3. He's going to go clean it now." I was skeptical because the room was a suite and there was no way it would be sufficiently cleaned in 30 minutes, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt. I left and when I came back at 2:55, the cleaning guy was just walking up to my room and hadn't even started to clean it. I explained to the front desk manager that I had a wedding rehearsal at 4 and needed to get ready, and requested a different room, telling him I was fine with a downgrade and they could refund me the difference. He said that they couldn't do that because they were fully booked. My room wasn't ready until 3:40! The front desk manager never apologized or offered any kind of restitution, and was generally rude and smug.

The room itself was fine - nothing special, a little dingy but not awful. However, there were a lot of bugs, specifically silverfish and ants. I woke up the morning of check-out and there was one in the shower, so I said "eff it" and decided to just leave. When I went to check out at 8:30am, there was no one in the office. I waited around for 5 minutes and ended up just leaving the key on the desk and peacing out.

Was put up here by a family member or I would have noped right out of there. At first sight, there were finger prints all over the tables and surfaces which means they didn’t so much as use a Lysol wipe on the desk or coffee table at all. Next, I sat my son on the couch to tie his shoes and there was an empty bag of chips sticking out from under the couch. We also found tons of shredded wheat crumbs by the couch and old, dried up Cheerios under the desk. Was not even inspecting.

There was a child’s stuffed animal left next the bed on the floor, which means no one ran a vacuum, broom or mop around the place.

Wanted to iron a shirt and the ironing board had very odd stains all over it, it honestly looked like someone used it as a snack table. It was also musty and a weird array of color as a result of the cover never being washed.

There is a soap dish in the room. Found two starkly different colored hairs in it that were different lengths so it just seemed like a reserve of filth of previous occupants.

They do early check-in for $10/hour counting back from 3pm. I called twice to confirm that. But when I came to check in at 1pm, I was charged $25. In cash. For “tax.” 25% tax...?

I would never stay here on my own dime. There is really nothing to be said to defend against my experience. The bottom line is the rooms are not cleaned at all, they just change the bedding (I hope).

Also, here is a picture of the stuffed animal I found. For whoever lost it, it is in room 102. And since they don’t clean, I’m certain it is still there waiting for you.

When I travel to Southern Connecticut, I have been known to find “whatever’s available” for my short-term stays. Upon discovering the Tower Inn & Suites in Guilford, CT, I’ve now found my go-to place.

The gentleman who owns & runs the Tower Inn & Suites, Yogi Patel, is exactly that, a gentleman. I enjoy seeing him, however briefly, each time.

That said, the rooms are spacious and kept very clean. I always sleep well there and awake refreshed after my usual long drive from & back to Vermont.

I highly recommend the Tower Inn & Suites to anyone in need of a clean, well-located hotel in Connecticut. Do give it a try when you’re in the Guilford, CT area.

Plan to visit historic Guilford, CT (settled 1639) and Connecticut Shoreline this summer?
Looking for a place to stay?
I recommend The Tower Inn & Suites. This was the second time we stayed here (June 2022 & June 2023). What is important to my wife and I: cleanliness, location, comfort and price. Our room was spacious, bed was very comfortable, staff friendly and affordable ($131.00).
The Tower Inn is located in the town of Guilford. Be sure to visit Guilford Town Center with it's beautiful town green, quaint shops and restaurants and many historic structures. One of my favorite places to visit; Guilford's town dock and Marina with a spectacular view of Long Island Sound, Falkner Island Lighthouse and the little red cottage on Grass Island.
Tesla owners. The Tower Inn & Suites has 2 chargers for its hotel guests.
Thank you,

Due to unforeseen circumstances I needed a weekly hotel and was recommended Tower Inn. I got a very nice room including a microwave and small fridge. You have everything you need including an iron and ironing board. Problems got fixed quickly. Everything is clean and I got more towels than I needed. More than I expected.
