We have stayed at the Tower Inn before, but it has been a few years. We were on our way back to the Connecticut shoreline and we stayed here the night before we checked into our rental. Since the Tower has been under the same management (ownership?) my information was still in their database. The rooms are very large and have a small kitchen area that you can use for an extended stay. My wife is a stickler for cleanliness and the Tower passed just fine. Most hotels and rentals along the CT shoreline are much more expensive so this is not a bad alternative if you don’t absolutely need to be on the water. The shoreline in Guilford or Madison is only a 5-10 minute drive away anyway. Lots of great restaurants and good shopping are also very close.
My husband, 1 yr old, and I stayed here for one night in one of the suites. The layout was great, the bed was comfortable, there were plenty of towels, and the room didn’t smell bad at all. We would definitely stay here again.
Do yourself and your family a favor and pass this place up. We checked in at 11pm and proceeded to our assigned room. When we walked in the heat was off and it was freezing in the room (it’s November in CT). I proceeded to plug my cell charger in to the plug behind the nightstand and there was a used condom wrapper on the floor! We pulled out the sleeper sofa for my 11 year old and there was food crumbs and dirt! We called the front desk to complain by this time it was midnight. They offered us another room assuring that the others would not be like that. How can you clean one room and not another. I asked about the cancellation policy informing them we would stay that night (we were exhausted) but that we would be checking out the next morning and would like a refund for the remaining nights. Long story short, they refused to refund our money despite the young man at the front desk telling us the hotels cancellation policy would allow for us to cancel the last two nights without penalty. Very disappointing.…
We always stay here when we visit family in Commecticut. The location is brilliant and the family who own and run it are very accommodating. There are two king beds and a double sofa bed in each of the rooms we have had.
This review is late in writing but hopefully it will save someone a very uncomfortable experience. My fiancée and I booked it for a week and stayed only one night. I had to use half a can of Lysol and a candle to get the musty smell out of the room and make it so I wasn't as afraid of what might be in the room with us. Comforters immediately went on the stained loveseat and we both slept on top of the sheets in our clothes. didn't get much sleep.
