As someone who was born and raised in Greenwich, my memories of the Stanton House are of a horrific boarding house from over 40 years ago. No more! On more recent visits to see family, I’ve stayed at some very expensive hotels that offered very little for my money. I’d read some recent reviews for the Stanton House and decided to give it a chance. Great decision! For any future visits, the Stanton House will be my first choice. The front desk is covered from 7:30 am - 3:30 pm. I arrived late. No problem. I was texted the front door code and instructions. My key was in an envelope along with a welcome letter at the base of the stairs. I’d chosen room 26 for the early morning light. The room was well appointed and the bed was very comfortable. The next morning I had a minor issue in the bathroom. No big deal. I texted the owners and a few moments later a host appeared and the issue was corrected. Breakfast begins at 8 am and it was delicious. My first morning I had some quiche with fruit and a toasted bagel with a variety of cream cheeses. There were many choices available and I was pleased with the coffee. The hosts are wonderful. The grounds are lovely. In a town where every piece of land is now crowded with mini-mansions, this place is an outlier and truly a slice of heaven. Next time I’ll be sure to bring my bathing trunks. This is a short trip. Heading down to breakfast shortly and then off to the airport. Next time I’ll bring my wife.…
On a recent driving vacation of southern New England, we found a challenge in this time of pandemic concerns to find a B&B that would take bookings shorter than 3 nights. Almost being relegated to the hotel route (yuck), I looked one more time and the Stanton House Inn popped up as an option. It was a little out of my search area and at the top of my planned budget but so so worth it. Staffed by mostly millennials they struck the perfect balance of being attentive and staying out of the way. Our room was of ample size for our two nights. When we come back, if it’s for longer, a larger room to spread out more is definitely within consideration. On our second night some guests, who had skirted the rules against large parties booking blocks and individually booked their own rooms, had a late night party in the common areas complete with masses of people tromping through the inn to their rooms at 2am, obviously with hard soled shoes on wood floors. They left a mess in the dining room that the kitchen crew had to clean up when they arrived, setting breakfast prep back. The staff handled the obstacle professionally and sensitively, with genuine concern for other guests being disturbed or delayed. I am terrible with remembering names so I won’t even try, but I will try to learn them on our next visit…
We originally booked the King Bedroom but had to change our reservations to one day earlier. This room was already booked so we used a ground floor Queen room. The room and bath were clean and decor pleasant and restful. I felt the room needed a glowing, digital wall clock as I awoke several times during the night...just my doing nothing else. We left just after 7 am so we did Not have any Breakfast. We checked-in after 5:00 pm so only one young man was there. He helped with obtaining Ice for the bucket and Coffee for the French Press. He was willing and happy to help us. We will stay here again next year.
The staff is very friendly and helpful. Upon our arrival the inn keeper gave us a brief history of the property. We had a spacious suit with a fireplace and small kitchenette. This was the first time we were provided a French Press coffee pot. So much nicer then a nesspresso or kcup. The breakfast was delishous and plentiful. Greenwich is a nice town with many places to eat. We highly recommend staying here.
This is a great place. Convenient to explore Greenwich. If you are going to shows at the Capitol Theater in Port Chester, less than 4 miles away, it's perfect. Relatively little traffic going to the show and none on the way back afterward. Staff is welcoming and helpful. Plenty to eat for breakfast, including real bagels. Would definitely stay there again.
We loved our stay at the Stanton House. Formerly residents of Westport Ct. we returned for 4 nights of family and friends get together. The inn is a beautiful older home. Our room, 10 was delightful. Large bedroom, extremely comfortable bed, separate small closet and kitchenette area set up. The bath is tight, in this room but that did not bother us at all. The ac was great! Breakfast is fine. The weekend is lovely with breads, sweets and there is a constant order list of 5 items that are varied from avocado toast to yoghurt with fresh fruit and Granola to quiche Lorraine. During the week these options still exist but the bread selection is a bit skimpy. Just English muffins and toast. However, the staff is friendly and there to help and it’s just a pleasurable home to relax in while visiting the area. We would definitely return.…
I grew up in Greenwich and recently stayed at the Stanton House Inn while back in town for a family gathering. What a great spot. The room (room 25) was fantastic and they were very responsive to any needs that we had. Off street parking was easy and the cleanliness of the property inside and out was impressive. I would for sure stay there again! My only reason for not giving it 5 stars was that breakfast was a little lacking, in both flavor and size but really was not an important part of my stay.
We had such a wonderful trip! We rented three rooms and were all quite comfortable. The grounds are beautiful and the rooms/beds were so comfortable! We loved walking into town for breakfast. Although there was breakfast served on site, we were up for more sustenance. Thank you! This was our third stay and we will be back!
We have stayed at the Stanton House three times in three different rooms. All three stays were wonderful getaways. The rooms are lovely and very clean. Two of our stays were during COVID and we felt perfectly safe with a private room entrance, lovely outdoor patio and contactless check in. Highly recommended.
We come to Greenwich regularly to visit family and always stay here. We look forward to being here almost as much as we look forward to seeing our family. The owners and employees are welcoming, the inn is clean and pretty, service is top-notch, and breakfast delicious, with various options.
