Given the current travel restrictions, we opted for a long weekend at the Homestead Inn. Check-in was a little slow as the front desk associate was on the phone and was unaware we arrived. Once she noticed us she was very friendly and confirmed our stay details. We booked this long weekend a week before so the only room available was in the Carriage House. Our room was on the first floor of the carriage house and we actually preferred staying here as compared to the main house. The main house where Thomas Henkelmann restaurant is located is very noisy and busy. We arrived to the hotel late on Saturday and went to the bar for a snack and a drink, and the place was packed with people waiting around for other diners or until their table is ready. The Carriage House was a great reprieve for the noise and even on the first floor we never heard anyone else. Our room was a good size and well appointed with all the amenities that you would expect from an upscale inn. It was also nice to have daily housekeeping, some other hotels we’ve stayed at in the area have housekeeping on demand. We had dinner one evening at Thomas Henkelmann and breakfast each morning. We went on a Monday for dinner and the food and service were outstanding. Where we really found the personalized service of the inn was breakfast. Aside from the weekend, we were the only guests at breakfast. Since we were there for a few days we got to know our waiter Luis (sp?), and let me tell you he was great. One morning my partner wanted to sleep in so I went to breakfast alone and just as I’m leaving my partner wanted a latte and an English muffin. I placed my order with Luis and mentioned that I would wait and carry it myself, he said absolutely not that he would bring it to our room and I shouldn’t have to wait. Luis was a true gem, he was also at our dinner service one night and despite not seated in his section, he made sure to keep checking in with us to see how we were doing. Overall we had a great stay at the Homestead Inn and will return, perhaps once the weather gets warmer. The staff always wore masks and we saw common services being cleaned regularly. The only negatives were the bar had limited hours on the weekdays and was closed the Sunday we were there. As we live in NYC and took a car service to and from the hotel we had to walk into town, while not a far walk, it is impossible to do at night as part of the walk there are no sidewalks. The Delmar Greenwich has a hotel car that will drop you off in town, I realize the Delmar is a larger hotel but since so many people from NYC visit it would be a nice addition by the inn. Bottom line we will return. There is a great patio that would be fun to try in warmer weather.

My wife made arrangements for a one night stay to celebrate my birthday and it was great! The Inn is beautiful and is surrounded by more incredible properties. Our room was very spacious and comfortable but could use a little updating. The service from start to finish was first rate and the food at the Thomas Henkelmann restaurant for dinner & breakfast was exquisite! There is plenty of parking and all of the great shopping that Greenwich has to offer is only a few minute drive away. We have added the Homestead Inn to our "must return" places!!

We stayed four nights beginning Dec. 23 while visiting family and friends in the area. What a lovely stay for the holidays! Our room (suite 124) was beautiful and comfortable. Uniquely decorated with interesting pieces from around the world and incredibly comfortable chaises for our reading/watching pleasure in the sitting room. The Inn itself is beautifully decorated throughout, mixing the classic New England Inn vibe with more of proprietor Teresa’s amazing collection from her worldwide travels. The downstairs sitting room was beautifully decorated for the holidays, including a gorgeous Christmas tree, and provided a relaxing setting for morning coffee and reading or for family pictures before dinner. We enjoyed a great dinner at the Thomas Henkelmann restaurant on Christmas Eve: lobster ravioli, asparagus, salmon, halibut, apple strudel all very nicely prepared. Breakfast in the beautiful windowed porch was excellent (with great service from Louis). All in all a great experience. Everyone made us feel wonderfully at home in this beautiful Inn!

Beautiful property and uniquely designed rooms. I enjoyed sitting on the verandah outside our room early in the morning and appreciated the beautiful gardens. I would have liked access to tea or coffee in my room or at least offered this as a complimentary service when checking in. An iron and iron board tucked away in the closet would also be a nice touch. There is a light switch located outside the room to turn off the verandah lights at night.

Poor service. Good food presentation but lacking in taste and substance. Room OK but listing severely near door. The experience does not meet the level that we are used to in Relais and Chateaux properties.

Air-conditioning did not work. They tried to give us a room in the attic that was like a sauna. People indifferent. Restaurant probably very good, but don’t stay here just to eat at the restaurant. Very disappointing.

For our 6th anniversary my wife Kristine, our pup Hunter von Kellner and I opted for a little getaway to celebrate the occasion. Friends from Germany had previously recommended The Homestead Inn. What a beautiful find just one short hour North of the city nestled on top of a hill in a quiet residential neighborhood of Greenwich, CT. The general decor of the rooms and the restaurant is traditional mixed with some fun artsy elements (thanks to the exquisite taste of Mrs. Henkelmann) .Dinner at the restaurant Thomas Henkelmann was divine. A big Thank You to Mr. an Mrs. Henkelmann and their staff for a wonderful time !!!! We will be back

I recently stayed at The Homestead Inn on an executive retreat. We utilized the inn for guest rooms, our board meeting and dining. The inn itself is charming and our meeting was flawless. The soul of this hotel is its owner Theresa Carroll. She is charming, warm and funny and obviously takes immense pride in what she and her partner Thomas Henkelmann have created. The food provided in their fine dining room rivals the best you will find in France. The staff is extraordinary. Everyone is warm, attentive and caring - sadly a rare find today. Astley (sp?) prepares a perfect martini, with pride and grace, as though you are a guest in his own home. While this visit was business I look forward to returning with my wife for a getaway weekend. It's a 45 minute ride and light years away from Manhattan.

My husband and I went to the Homestead Inn in November to celebrate our anniversary. The inn is so charming, the people there were so friendly and accommodating and the breakfast was delicious. We had a corner room with a sitting room attached in the main inn. So much old world charm with modern amenities. The dining room has a great sunroom where we had breakfast, and there was so much attention given to everything from the table settings to the warm milk they provide with your coffee. Loved every minute and hope to go back soon.

It was a last minute decision to take a trip that brought us to Greenwich. Actually, my husband read about the highly rated French restaurant located within this Inn. As we were booking the room for two nights just a few days before our arrival, there were no longer many choices of rooms available. Each room is unique. We had stayed in the room pictured above and found it comfortable. Perhaps the decor was a little bit too "flowery" for our taste, but the king size bed was quite comfortable and the large windows made the room appear larger. The bathroom was small, basic, clean, with a modern large walk-in glass enclosed shower. The rest was just a little tight with one sink only and shelf space to share, but good enough for just a two night stay. The Bvlgari toiletries, my favorite, were a very nice surprise. Classy! Staying in the main house is always my priority, in any establishment, that also offers rooms somewhere else on the property. Our room was at the end of a long hallway in the main house on the second floor, and I was pleasantly surprised how quiet it was during the night. We slept well. There are some squeaky floors throughout, it is an old charming inn after all. We enjoyed late breakfast (not included in our rate), served by Luis on the sunny glassed-in porch. The service and food selection were wonderful, it was very peaceful. Most guests were gone at that point, or so it seemed. The grounds are beautifully landscaped, surely beautiful in every season. Parking was on the property... The room daily rate at about $450 with tax, seemed a bit high at first. Easily justified though, considering the luxurious Thomas Henkelmann restaurant located in the main house. The restaurant is well known and highly rated for its fine French cuisine. Michelin-starred. It's relatively close proximity to NYC is an added value.
