The house itself is beautiful and our room was clean. Due to Covid breakfast is cancelled and our friends could not visit our room. Unfortunately this information was not made available to us ahead of time. There was a letter taped to the door with our keys. Our cell phones did not work very well and the room/Inn did not have any printed information about the town, etc. Nothing within walking distance was open until 10:30 on a Saturday, so we had to drive to get coffee in the morning. The room did not provide any extra pillows, blankets, etc. The mattress was very hard, especially in the middle and sagged on each side. The thermostat was controlled else where and the windows do not open. The room was very stuffy and quite warm on the first night, so not a lot of sleep. Second night was a bit cooler due to the outside temperature being roughly 20 degrees cooler. We have stayed in many Inns and this one was just a disappointment for the price. We could have stayed with friends, or in another local community, but chose this based on it's ratings, so we were very disappointed and left feeling as though we wasted a lot of money. This could be a charming place with a bit more effort put into guests' comforts. I did find a mini fridge in a common room that was plugged in, so the snacks I brought were able to stay chilled. Again, there just wasn't any information about anything.…
While visiting Boardman House, we met two couples who make this the destination for an annual winter getaway. No wonder - The rooms at this friendly, sophisticated inn are beautifully appointed, and the small town is charming.
One of the most beautiful rooms we’ve ever stayed in! The pics don’t do it justice. The house is absolutely stunning. Mia was a wonderful host. She also make the best French toast in the world! We will definitely visit again.
Calm, relaxing and care-free. Easy to Goodspeed and area attractions. Mia is a gracious host. Breakfast is just right. French Room was lovely and clean. Bathroom is updated. Quiet and private entrance.
We stayed here for a quiet weekend and enjoyed our stay thoroughly. The French Room which we had was very well kept, clean and had excellent bedding. The location is terrific and this area of Connecticut is a perfect place to unwind, visit wine country, go kayaking or boating on the Connecticut River and have great meals. The only reason I am not giving this property 5 stars is the breakfast. There isn't much of a choice and you get served a waffle one morning (with toast and jam) or french toast the next day (with toast and jam). The breakfast tastes great but why not serve some wonderful farm fresh eggs, especially since right next door is a hen house with a stand serving farm fresh eggs?
