Staying at this property for the third time. Second after renovation. The hotel is beautiful but service for the price tag is far from what ir should be. Employing foreign students is great, but when you’re paying $1k per night they need to know basics and at least speak English. Very slow, they don’t understand you. Not what you’d expect from a luxurious hotel. Fix service or you won’t see return customers like myself.
We have been staying at Hythe/Marriott for the past 25 years. The remodel was very well done making it one of the nicest hotels in Vail. Nick met us as we drove up and happily welcomed us back. We are titanium members and the upgrade went well but the request for adjoining rooms was challenging. The first two people we spoke with said they were non available. Finally on our third try Pilar (who was super and seem to go out of her way) spoke with her supervisor and was able to make it happen. Rooms are nicely appointed, house keeping staff, wait staff, ski boot attendants and all others were very personable. Breakfast buffet was delicious although miss the chocolate chip and oatmeal cookies they use to offer at 4 pm. The short walk to the gondola and having our skis waiting for us makes the hotel location ideal. We look forward to going back again.…
We recently stayed at the Hythe for four nights and would not recommend this hotel for the quality you get for the price. Important to note that this is billed as a Marriott property but is actually run by Vail, so they don't recognize Marriott benefits for Platinum or Titanium members. Check-in was frustrating. We arrived at 3:40 pm and our room was not ready. No problem, we can have a cocktail. I attempted to complete the pre check-in process and the person checking us in couldn't work the computer and ultimately checked us in but didn't give us our Platinum benefits. I had to request our breakfast vouchers and she had to call a manager to explain what those were. We went to the bar and had a cocktail and around 4:30 my phone was dying after a long day of travel so I went to check on the status of our room. A different agent informed me they couldn't check because "the walkie talkie is broken" and they couldn't call housekeeping. Finally, after speaking to someone on the phone our room was deemed ready. We go to our room and I realized that it wasn't the room I booked. I went back down to the desk and they said that the room I had booked wasn't available. Instead of an upgrade they gave us a downgrade. I had to request a manager and ultimately a room at the level we booked was secured. The biggest issue with the room was having a sofa to sit on and a fridge in the room for four nights. We booked a suite and they gave us a regular room. At this point we are told that they would have the valet re-route our bags. We went to the old room and the new room and we both waited there for twenty minutes - no bags. I went to the valet and asked about the status and the front desk had never requested them. At 7:30 pm we finally settled in after an 18 hour travel/check-in process. Outside of check-in the staff was generally friendly. Nobody went out of their way during our stay but the valet was timely and helpful. We had breakfast two times and never even saw a waiter at the buffet so we just ate and left. A bigger issue was with the maintenance of the property. It was beautifully redone but you can tell it's still an older property. During our stay only one hot tub was open and so in the afternoons there were often 15 people in a 10 person tub. We could see the tub from our room and the max I counted in the tub was 22 people!! We were only able to use the hot tub one day during our stay because it was always at capacity. Two days during our stay one of the two elevators was not working, making for very long waits with people with baggage and ski gear in and out of the elevators. Our HVAC in our room was LOUD. One night we ended up trying to sleep with the sliding door open vs. using the thermostat in our room to moderate the temperature. One of the outdoor firepits was out of order the entire stay. If it weren't branded a "luxury" property where a four-night stay was $5000 I may have overlooked some of the service issues. The maintenance issues were harder to overlook. The hot tub/pool in particular were a big disappointment for us as we like to relax after a long day on the mountain. We planned this trip for months and we came home regretting how much money we spent. We still had a lovely time on the mountain and in the Village, but we both felt we overspent and had buyer's remorse.…
We have been coming for years to this property prior to Marriott to rebranding the property as the new luxury brand the Hythe. Our stay was exceptional. The rooms have been updated and upgraded to a new level of excellence. The breakfast buffet and and omelette station along with so many decadent choices will make you want to comeback for multiple trips. The decor is to die for. Highly recommend this property. It was our first time staying at The Hythe. From the moment we pulled up, to the moment we left, the experience couldn’t have been better. Attentive staff, beautiful room and phenomenal amenities. Special shout out to Ashley C who was our charming server at breakfast every morning. Thank you so much for making it a family vacation to remember!
We had a wonderful time at this property and in Vail. Only negative is we had to wait a bit to check in. Otherwise it is a wonderful property. Beautiful decor. Friendly doormen; they took care of us with directions to everywhere we wanted to go. It is a walkable property close to Lionshead Village and Vail Village. Shuttle bus system is excellent. We read ahead and as it is stated we did not need a car. We used the Epic and Peak1 shuttles to and from the airport. Prefer Peak1 shuttle! If you just want to come for skiing and enjoying the property and the walkable villages- a car isn’t necessary. Erin the concierge is exceptional she took care of us totally with great suggestions for dinner etc. She is an asset to The Hythe. Keep her! She made our visit one of the best birthdays ever! Thank you Erin! We would visit this property again for sure especially because of Erin! The Lockharts 😍…
Let me start out by saying there were a lot of good things about this hotel but also a lot of bad. It all started when I was trying to set up dinner reservations through the concierge and it was a nightmare. Christine was extremely unhelpful and we ended up researching and doing everything ourselves. My husband skis so I was hoping to find other activities to do and when I inquired about cross-country skiing she responded with "what do you mean cross country skiing?" and then just told me to call someone else. I had no idea they offered snowshoeing through the hotel, she never told me about anything happening. I did end up booking a spa service through her and low and behold, when I showed up to my appointment, she never booked it for me and they were full. I was so disappointed and could not believe after booking over a month in advance I was not able to get my service. The room was stunning and we had the most amazing view ever! The valet and front desk were amazing although we did have to wait over an hour for our room when they told us 20 minutes. The furniture in the room was not in the best shape, a lot was kind of falling apart. We loved out bathrooms, plenty of towels and bath products. The shower was very small, hard to even move around in but the tub was great - jetted an huge. No full length mirror which is just a personal nitpick but I found it odd that there was none. The. Bed. It was THE most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept on. It was so hard that my husband and I woke up every morning sore from it. The heating and AC was very finicky and we often woke up super hot or super cold and had to mess with the thermostat. The concierge team did send over a bottle of wine and treats to congratulate us and that was such a nice gesture that we really did appreciate so much! The location was amazing...my husband was just a short walk to the slopes and I was just a quick walk from Lionshead Village or Vail Village via the bus which was super easy to navigate. S'more every night complimentary by the fire was a nice touch and the options for our breakfast were wonderful! We were so surprised to be able to use our vouchers for in-room dining and the spread they sent was incredible! There are a lot of good things about this place and we did enjoy ourselves for the most part but I do not think we will be going again.…
This hotel is terribly managed and does not care about guests. We are platinum with Marriott and not only did they not acknowledge our status, they did not have our room ready when we tried to check in at 4, 4:30pm, and now 5:48. Each time we’ve had to wait in an extremely long line only to be disappointed again. They do not have a Gold or Platinum desk, like every other Marriott hotel I’ve stayed at. Service is abysmal and completely unacceptable for the prices we pay to come to Vail. I highly doubt they’re going to make any effort to remedy this situation. 0/10 DO NOT STAY HERE.
We were placed in a room that was noisy until 1:00am. I talked to the front desk and asked to be moved and got the run around. First they told me they would call me back in 10 minutes then when I went downstairs 2 hours later I was told the front desk person was talking to their manger and to check back later. I checked back twice and was told there were no king bed rooms available. In addition, our room was never cleaned after a house keeper approached us and asked what we wanted and we told them we wanted it to be clean. We will never return!
Went there for a conference and ski holiday. The Spa, Bellmen, and car service were excellent. All of the employees were very friendly. The Remodel was beautiful. I enjoyed the bathrobe and slippers and the fireplace in the room was cozy. The bathrooms are lovely with Molton Brown products. The Balconies are nice. I had been there when it was the Marriott for a conference. Despite the lovely appearance ,a few things were lacking for the high price. Rooms were Not well soundproofed. That was the same problem before they remodeled the Marriott. I could hear the other family next door too well!. The noise from the hallway comes into rooms as well. The Grab and go and the Whiskey bar close too early, 7pm. The service at the restaurant at lunch time was slow. There were not may people there dining.…
